2024-2025 Stanford

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
found from previous year's thread:

This is purely speculation, but the review process might go like this:

1. Admissions reviews our files semi-chronologically or according to their own scoring criteria
2. The update button disappears once they start reviewing the file
3. They place us on the staircase analogy -> if you are a very strong candidate, they accept quicker; if you are a candidate who needs further consideration, they compare you with later candidates (hence the different lengths between button disappearance to decision)
4. We either get A, WL, or R

Again, this is purely a guess, so take it with a grain of salt

this makes the most sense

hmm there was a bunch of post-II R's on cycletrack last year, how is this new?

cycle track doesn’t distinguish between pre and post II rejections. the threads of the past three years never had a single post-II rejection, so everyone assumed they only WLs

Were there? I might be mistaken but looking through the SDN thread from last year it seemed like the initial outcomes post-interview were either A or WL

I know last year they were sending out pre-II Rs up until late-January-ish

are you saying no more KHS acceptances will come out, or general acceptances? if the latter, i have a hard time believing that since there was a huge A wave last year that hasn't happened yet
I am a KHS finalist this year, and i haven't heard back from MD if this makes you feel better. Clearly, Stanford is doing something new this year, so I would dare to say that speculating based on previous years really do no good but cause anxiety. And posting those speculations can only cause yourself and others anxiety here. Time will tell. Just wait until Wednesday or Friday, and keep manifesting not all hope is lost.

I think the staircase analogy is truly in play. Thus, idk if we should even expect to hear back M/W/F anymore. Or even this week.

so you think it will be truly unpredictable what day they get back to us? It seems like they've at least waitlisted/rejected/accepted in waves on certain days, but it's been hard to predict what month of interviewees will be W/R/A on what day.

It seems that each week, they've been releasing acceptances somewhat chronologically. This past Friday had a few acceptances from 1/15 interviews. The previous Friday had acceptances for some 1/10 interviews. However, since the waves have been so sparse, it is possible that they have been only giving acceptances to the absolute "top of the staircase" applicants that would get in regardless of how more recent interviewees are evaluated. I'm not sure whether interviews have officially concluded here, but my guess is that once they do, the adcom will circle back and release larger batches of acceptances to fill the rest of the class, pulling from all interview dates. This, of course, is all speculation and seems to be different from how they have made decisions in the past.

maybe they are doing it this way but also I'm confused because they did tell us nov interviewees that they would get back to us in January - so did they change their strategy last minute? I don't necessarily think nov/dec applicants are all cooked because larger waves of A's haven't been released from those months but also nothing seems to make sense anymore 😃

I think all of you guys are right. We've all been following this so closely since around 1/15, and it's getting so hard to predict what Stanford is doing. Of course I hope to hear back today or this week, but man is it draining...

WL email, interviewed early december

Soooo for those of us waitlisted... what's the tea... Is it pretty much over for us? Anyone know if they accept updates at this point? Email says we may hear from them again in May (tragic) but cycle track from last year has rejections/acceptances in March (though not sure if those were for waitlisted people). Just looking for any extra info people may know!

Did you get an A?

this is what i want to know too :'(

bc there are more post II rejections this year and thus less waitlisted candidates, maybe chances of getting off the waitlist are higher?

share!! i lowkey think WL is cooked though… ima just give up hope and try to get into the only other school that gave me an II

Are newly submitted publications worth including as an update?

yes of course that’s probably the best use of an update haha

Also wondering if they accept any sort of letters (updates/continuining interest/intent) from waitlisted applicants?

I’ve been considering reaching out to admissions to see if they’ll accept any sig updates after WL. I feel like since they haven’t “welcomed” any additional info, they probably don’t want anything.

JUST GOT THE CALL! Told me im the realest they have ever seen!

Interviewed in Dec and its been silence. They seem to have accepted Jan interviews fast asf. maybe the california fires burned our apps or something

Is this tea real with the january interviews... i'm a late jan interviewee 🙂

Hey everyone, can someone explain why the update button disappears? For those who interviewed recently (e.g., in January), how long did it take for your update tab to disappear? The wait is really getting to me 😩.

OOS A, wanted to wake up today and check to make sure it was still there. For anyone being neurotic in the future and reading over past years threads it’s not worth. I tweaked over this SO much and spent hours beating myself up over small stutters/mistakes I made during the MMI and ways I could’ve answered each prompt better. I honestly thought this was my worst interview of the cycle. TLDR: neuroticism isn’t worth the time or energy

I have my interview coming up, so those R/As in March are probably for the last batch of interviewees in Feb
