What’s the difference between HPWL and WL, and does it tell you in the email that you’re one vs. the other?

Regular WL here, but just answering your question, it does specify in the email which waitlist you're on. HPWL is high priority, so presumably any initial openings will go to them first. My hunch is that there is one ranked waitlist in which "x" positions at the top are deemed HPWL, and the rest are rg WL as those at the top are very likely to be offered As given past cycle movements. That being said, looking at previous cycles threads for Stony, both HPWL and regular WL have been offered spots. Whether the ranking is dynamic (or set in stone) and whether it's possible to move from rg WL into HPWL is unclear, but that's the situation. Also, it appears that HPWL is going to people who interviewed way more than 6-8 weeks ago (ie late nov-late jan) who just heard back now (could be wrong tho).
Regardless, for now, the waiting game continues. Remember, it isn't over till it's over. A number of people will give up their As, and not everyone offered HPWL or rg WL will either accept the WL or accept the A given financials and juggling offers from other schools. Patience is a virtue, so I'd say just sit tight, do your due diligence with significant updates/emails, and manifest seeing that acceptance email!

My interview was also late Feb but I haven’t heard back… I’ve been checking my email all day this week. Hopefully we’ll hear back tomorrow or next week.
I interviewed the last week of Feb with an A early this week - So hopefully soon!

I think anyone who hasn't heard back post-interview for a while (more than 8 weeks) is ending up with either an acceptance or HPWL spot

I got interviewed 3/6 and haven’t heard a thing 🙁 I’m guessing I was being interviewed for the WL at this point… hate that SB weren’t upfront about that.

are you referring to the AMP portal for your supplemental application? or the amcas choose your med school portal. I'm fairly certain based on what they told me on my interview day that at this point in the cycle they dont use the AMP portal as much anymore and stick to email communication. I also didnt have any sort of update through the AMP portal, but it did take a few days to update in the AMCAS portal if thats what youre referring to

if the WL is ranked, is there any use in sending another interest letter?
I'm sure if a substantial update is included within the interest letter there would be consideration for candidacy. Will it move spots around just depends on how strongly the update is aligned with what they value within the applicant's profile.
Is there a way to find information about waitlist movement trends other than stalking SDN & the public MSAR waitlist information sheet? I'd really like to know if RSOM HPWL classically gets cleared in most cycles.

The way I look at it, you have nothing to lose and potentially everything to gain lol. In the email, they said it is ranked (pretty sure this is the same WL email prompt they've been sending for years), but also said to upload/send any updates, so idk. I don't think the adcom is obligated at all to abide by the WL as is. Theoretically, they could admit whoever they want in whatever order they want 🤷♂️

If you look at cycletrack it seems that last year all the rejections listed ended by March. This year it looks like the last wave of rejections came March 17th.
My guess is that unlike some other schools (like Einstein), they didn't interview 1M people where they have to flat out reject 90% of the people they even interviewed. Thus, if you were interviewed and haven't been rejected already, you are at least under consideration.

Did anyone get finaid?! I haven't gotten it from SBU despite getting accepted back in October!
Visit day somebody asked, and they said they would get back to everyone who requested it by Wednesday or something. I think you may want to send financial aid an email requesting a breakdown though. Not completely sure it was kinda confusing.

Are they done releasing direct acceptances or waitlists (HPWL and WL) post-interview? Has anyone still not hear back from them post-II? I am still in the waiting loom, and I hope I get some kind of decision before May 1st... and not be ghosted (T-T)
