Has there been any waitlist movement?
Its honestly probably way too early for that - expect it to start early March and then mostly into April/Early May. I’m hoping tho too over here lolHas there been any waitlist movement?
Okay thank you.If you’re going to do it (opinions vary on if LOIs even do anything), do it now. Why wait? It goes into your file the same way no matter when you send it.
I think that’s likely and they probably sent it to all those who applied but were not accepted or interviewed this yearDid they send reapplicant workshop email to everyone on waitlist

There’s only one frat, it’s more like living in a co- op and sharing cooking/ cleaning dutiesWhat's the consensus on being in a fraternity and the Greek life in general at UTMB? Going into my first year, I kinda wanted to just get my own apartment and chill, but being in a frat would cut my expenses significantly, it seems. First questions that come to mind:
1. Would I have to give up a lot of time for frat activities/life, or is it flexible?
2. What's living at the frat house like?
3. Are there any frats to avoid? Is there hazing?
4. Are the frats different from each other?
5. If yes, what should I know about each?
Any insight would be huge because I cannot, for the life of me, find any "geed" or insider student opinions/perspectives on the frats (other than the advertising). Don't wanna join then end up bamboozled![]()
I just want to note that the new cat profile pic is adorable and feels like an unexpected SDN plot twist. There’s only one frat, it’s more like living in a co- op and sharing cooking/ cleaning duties
Do you like living in a group or need your quiet?

I like both, and have done both, but I'd slightly prefer living in a group just so I don't sit in bed all day. There’s only one frat, it’s more like living in a co- op and sharing cooking/ cleaning duties

Honestly, I wasn't initially interested in any, but since only TKY and PX offer housing, those are probably the only two I'll consider. Could you expand on the "distinct personalities" you mentioned. Everything I've read about TKY and PX in their advertising sounds cool, but I don't really know what being involved in each actually looks like (day-to-day, or even just what the people are like in each). There’s more frats now. There’s one co-ed, two true men-only fraternities, and one sorority. Two of them have housing. They all have very distinct personalities; the frats will “rush” (as in, there is a process to apply and they select members for bids, but nothing as extreme as true Greek rush), the sorority is more or less open enrollment.
It’s certainly not like undergrad Greek life, so if that’s what you’re wanting, that’s not it. It is very much a “you get what you put in” experience. I know some folks who are in frats who only show up for events once in a blue moon; others are very active. It just depends on how involved you want to be. I’m technically in the sorority but I only show up to maybe one event a year and participate in the mentorship program, and I treat it like any other student org I’m part of.
Is there a particular one you’re interested in?
Keep in mind that the "personality" of the house's residents will change from year to year as grads leave and new people come inI like both, and have done both, but I'd slightly prefer living in a group just so I don't sit in bed all day.

I would not take myself as an expert on fraternity lifestyle or personality. I’m a 30-something crochety cat lady who does not interface with the typical fraternity scene. I know some TKY brothers and quite a few Phi Chi brothers but solely through academic small groups and research collaborations, not socially. I highly recommend you reach out to some of the brothers who have posted in the FB and other groups to get a sense of the social vibe. You can also PM me and I can get you connected directly with a few folks too.Honestly, I wasn't initially interested in any, but since only TKY and PX offer housing, those are probably the only two I'll consider. Recruitment ones would have been granted either before the match or shortly after (to entice you to come to our school- doesn’t make sense for it to be much later).Hello, does anybody know when scholarships would be announced for this school. For recruitment and through the application?
Yes, a lot of people get in via waitlist, especially towards May.Any current students know how many of their class got in through WL, if any? And if you got in through WL did you do anything post-decision?
Through my research it seems like it is 10-15. Even from SDN roundup the last couple years, the number in and around that range. Official Admissions sources say 20-25 offers made, and that 10-15 get off the list.Any current students know how many of their class got in through WL, if any? WL movement should start in a couple of weeks.has anyone gotten off the waitlist?
thank youWL movement should start in a couple of weeks.
You are eligible for an offer from your TMDSAS WL schools until 5 pm on May 15.And on April 30th, people with an acceptance to another Texas school are locked in on that one, right? We can’t get selected off waitlists past that point?
For TMDSAS May 15th but it is open if you have something in AMCAS based on CTE timeline on your current school. And on April 30th, people with an acceptance to another Texas school are locked in on that one, right? We can’t get selected off waitlists past that point?
So will offers to Texas Residents on the WL not be made after 5pm on May 15th? I thought WL offers can be made until the week before orientation. You are eligible for an offer from your TMDSAS WL schools until 5 pm on May 15.
May 15 is the last day Texans who already have a TMDSAS acceptance can get an offer from a TMDSAS Waitlist. So will offers to Texas Residents on the WL not be made after 5pm on May 15th? I thought WL offers can be made until the week before orientation.
If you are only holding one acceptance at this point you don't have to do anything. When does UTMB require the Plan or Commit to Enroll?
What about an OOS A? I have not selected plan to enroll for either, and the OOS has a CTE deadline in June. Can’t find one for UTMB.If you are only holding one acceptance at this point you don't have to do anything.
If you get an offer from one of your WLs after April 30, you will accept it if preferred, then directly communicate with prior A to withdraw from your spot.
You do not HAVE to take a WL offer, the choice is yours.
What's holding you back from deciding at this point? What about an OOS A? I have not selected plan to enroll for either, and the OOS has a CTE deadline in June. Can’t find one for UTMB.
I’m just waiting on my final counteroffer from the OOS, which will be end of next week at the latest. What's holding you back from deciding at this point?
UTMB will be lower cost, so look at your other factors and make up your mind. It's time.
If you want to stay on your last WL, then mark one school as PTE but you need to toss one acceptance back in the pool pretty soon.
PM&R is not a required rotation and so not having access to a specific residency in house does not disqualify a program. You can normally do one sub I internally and you will need externships.Just got an A off the waitlist, but I plan to decline tomorrow.
The reason I ranked UTMB above Long was because it was Pass Fail and i wanted a chill m1 and m2. However, i was under the impression that basically every school had a pm&r residency, and UTMB is one of the schools without one (Residency & Fellowship Training Programs).
I am planning on doing pm&r and fellowship into sports medicine, so that's a no go for me. Best of luck to whoever takes my spot (for any UTMB students in this forum, you have 24 hours to change my mind, looking at you @chicandtoughness View attachment 402844) !
You will get an emailHow will we be notified about WL decision, do we get email or check the portal?
Sometimes it does. They just can’t go over a certain # of OOS matriculantsCan OOS withdraw go to an In state applicant?
Thank you, I think I'm the one who got it! OOS WL and now A!Just withdrew my OOS A. Good luck to everyone, hoping it opened a spot for one of you!
Congrats! Did you get the A just now? OOS waitlistee impatiently waitingThank you, I think I'm the one who got it! OOS WL and now A!
OOS enrollment can be at most 10% of the class.Congrats! Did you get the A just now? OOS waitlistee impatiently waiting
so they prob would take 1-2 people OOS off the waitlist. Rip but huge congrats to the one who got inOOS enrollment can be at most 10% of the class.
WL movement is barely started in Texas.
