Did anyone who has paid both deposits and gotten an email have an associated gmail account? I have the email but no access to gmail and they said to regularly check the email.

Anyone get the scholarship reminder email? I haven’t even gotten an interview yet lol

Should I bother to keep waiting? I was complete back in early August and have not heard a word except for the incessant “explore our school” and “application workshop etc” emails.

I just received a II here!!! Only available date was 3/20, this is definitely for a waitlist spot huh

I keep getting follow up emails asking me to confirm alternate status but I’m on the waitlist 💔

anyone else seeing both "waitlisted" and "accept offer to alternate" on their portal? So if my letter says I'm waitlisted, am I just waitlisted or actually an alternate? Is there a difference?

Learn from my mistake, if your letter says WL, then thats what you are BUTTTTT still accept the offer of alternate status

Is the Pomona campus primarily interviewing higher stat applicants (ex MCAT 512+?) anyone know the median MCAT for the incoming class?

I had a 509 and interviewed at the CA campus

Congrats! And thx for sharing. I guess SoCal doesn’t want me back for med school lol (for reference I applied with a 508) . I got the positive sounding “consideration for interview” email so I guess this goes to show it doesn’t matter what wording you got for your “secondary complete/app compete” email

You can email them saying that you have ties to SoCal. I don’t know how much this is going to help, but if it works, it works right?

I was somewhat excited to get accepted to WesternU—not only because it meant staying in California, but also because I’d heard good things about the school’s match list. But as someone who is proactive, curious, and eager to do big things, I have to admit I was disappointed when I visited the campus.

The entire university, with eight colleges, is just a handful of old buildings clustered together in the middle of Old Town Pomona. Anyone can stroll across the campus in minutes and sit on the few chairs set out to foster a “collaborative atmosphere” (though you do need a badge to get inside the buildings). The infrastructure feels really underwhelming—honestly, I’ve seen trade schools in Southern California with better facilities. And for the tuition we’re paying… 😞. [I was also harassed by a homeless man while I was there and had to frantically called 911 to scare him off]

I genuinely want to love this school, and I know that a great education isn’t just about the buildings. But I can’t shake the feeling that I’ll be so sad bringing my family here for my white coat ceremony and graduation. This isn’t just venting—I’d love to hear from people who know Pomona well and can share their perspective. Maybe there’s more to it than meets the eye?

Interviewed 1/30, WL 2/12, A 2/24!!! I’m so happy! Sent letter of intent prior to WL decisions, was particularly interested in the program and sent followup emails after WL!
Congrats!! can I ask what you mean by follow up emails? Like you asked checking on your status or you just asked general questions about the program to stay in touch and show interest that way?

does anyone know up until what time we have to fill out the deposit? i was told i would be hearing from another school on the same day the deposit is due

You have a @westernu.edu email now right? You use outlook not gmail for emailing. You do have a google drive associated with ur email though.

WesternU is one of the best DO schools imo and is very underrated on Reddit for example, you barely see anyone talking about it on there. At the end of the day you're going to be a doctor, there's a great DO community here with faculty and DO admin that really care about your education and want you to be good doctors. Every single medical school has their problems that people are going to complain about, they don't like how this professor teaches, this was graded poorly, etc. Just nobody posts about it because you just complain to your fellow classmates cause you're in it together and at the end of the day you move on and continue your education.

The HEC where our didactic lectures are held is a fairly new building and doesn't feel old. Literally the only thing I don't like is the OMM HSC building and the bathrooms there. They're old and cramped lol. If you feel unsafe crossing campus at night you can call and ask for a security escort at any time. The white coat ceremony was held at at the Pomona Fairplex, not the school and the Graduation is also outsourced to another location to accomodate all the students. There is amazing Mexican food in Pomona, and the surrounds cities are good like Chino Hills and Diamond Bar.

Lastly, yes, the surrounding Pomona area can be sketchy at times but they do have security around.

Honestly you should reach out to Tom Fox, Director of Outreach & Strategic Partnerships and schedule a tour with him if you haven't already. I can't recommend it enough, he's a great guy and you'll have the best school tour of your life and learn a lot about the history.

Is it recommended to send a letter of interest rn if we got waitlisted but don't really have any significant updates or anything? Or should we wait until around May-ish? I've never had a WL before so I have no idea what to do lol
