hi, i'm an RN in CA and am interested in studying medicine in the Philippines. What exactly is the application process? I've looked at several school's website (e.g., UP, UERM, UST, FEU) and they seem to require a lot of documents.

For those of you who were in the states and then applied and got accepted to med school in the Philippines, how did you obtain all the documents and obtain the proper seals from the embassy, etc. and had it sent to them? And what was your timeline (i.e., when did you do all this prior to going to medical school?)

Also, how did you get contact #'s from the school? The website does not seem updated and I've sent emails (I don't know if it's valid) but have not heard a single reply.

I'm currently taking my pre-req's (bio, g.chem, o'chem, and physics) at a local university. Also, I just want to know if 9 units of math is required or can i get by without it.

Please reply so I can get on the ball with things. Thanks.

In order to apply to PI medical schools you need to take the NMAT exam. If you wish to start med school this June, you need to take the NMATs December 15th in Manila. If you want to start June 2008, you can either take the NMATs in April or in October in the US. When you register for the NMATs you receive the packet with all the schools and their phone numbers listed.

Keep in mind that the pre-med pre-reqs for the PI are different from the US, and in many ways less stringent. However the NMAT exam I found to be far more challenging than the MCAT. I am currently applying for next year's admission in both the US and PI.

i'm planning to take the NMATs late 2007. in the meantime, i want to get all my paperwork in order. that's why i want the contact #'s asap so i could put together all the things they want.
