What happens if one applies to a match and a non-match participating programs at the same time, and got accepted to both?

For example:

1. Program X participates in match and you ended up matching there.
2. Program Y does not participate in match, but you got accepted there too. Let's say this program happens to be your top choice.

Can an applicant turn down Program X in this situation, and go with Program Y - even though he/she matched in X?

I know this violates the rules of the matching process in X. Just wondering if anyone knows how this works....

For the non-match programs in specialties that participate in match, they will accept you well before the match deadline and you will be required to withdraw from the match as a condition of acceptance.

We are not in the match... We accept long before the match. We the student wants us, they are told to withdraw from the match. We generally hold positions post match also.

We want the students to be honest and ethical... we are... we try not to break any rules that will compromise the match or compromise any of our candidates.
