Does anyone know how much the international waitlist moved last year?
My student ambassador said that if you got an interview, you have a pretty good shot at eventually being accepted even if you're waitlisted, because a lot of international students decline their offers.Does anyone know how much the international waitlist moved last year?
Hi! I am going to be a new student in the fall coming from TN. Any information you could provide regarding applying for a study permit, getting a bank account, finding housing, and general transition to life in PEI would be so helpful. I briefly studied in Saskatchewan previously but never needed to apply for a study permit, so I'm a bit overwhelmed haha. Thanks! If anyone has questions about going to AVC as a US student, I'd be happy to help! Probably most useful in answering questions about making the transition and the school itself; it's been a long time since I actually applied/interviewed so I'm sure my information in that realm is out of date. Good luck![]()
They look at your 10 courses (25%) and your last academic year (25%). Though this year, GRE is not required so each component would be worth 30% I do believe.Does anybody know how AVC calculates the GPA averages?
I think they were asking about the formula to convert letter grades to percentages, which I’ve always wondered about, too. Unfortunately AVC isn’t transparent about it.They look at your 10 courses (25%) and your last academic year (25%). Oh!! Yeah, I have no idea.I think they were asking about the formula to convert letter grades to percentages, which I’ve always wondered about, too. Unfortunately they aren’t transparent about it.
I believe that whatever letter grade you have in a course gets converted into a number grade. Therefore, if you get an A+ in a class, I believe it gets capped off at a 93. If you get an A I believe it equates to an 89. I think B+ might be 78. Again, I don't know for sure, but I remember when I asked before they had told me 🙂Does anybody know how AVC calculates the GPA averages?
The last two years, they have come on the same dayI can’t believe that it’s almost time to hear about interviews! Can anyone confirm if rejection emails come out the day before interview invitations? Good luck everyone!
Yeah, same! I think last year was March 27th! 🙂 I keep wondering how the lack of GRE will impact scores? Like if it will help or hurt in some ways. 🤔Getting anxious about interview invites (NS applicant)! I wonder if it will still be around the same time as previous years (besides last year). Seems to be around the second Thursday of March when reading previous threads but maybe different again this year because of COVID-19?
I seen on the UPEI website that our calculated academic average is now 60% of the final overall admissions score instead of 50%. I hope it all works out to be helpful. Ok, nice! And no I'm not but I'm an Atlantic Canada applicant! 🙂 GRE was never my strong suit, so I really hope it does! hahaI seen on the UPEI website that our calculated academic average is now 60% of the final overall admissions score instead of 50%. I haven’t heard anything. Hopefully we’ll start hearing around the decision deadline!Have any international students who were placed on the waitlist received an offer/been removed from the waitlist yet??

1. I was on my own insurance, not student insurance, so I can't really speak to healthcare. Canadian healthcare is a lot more limited in terms of immediate availability, though; my Canadian neighbors had to wait like weeks to get an x-ray at one point. Appointments for general stuff were also harder to get.Hi there! I have a couple of questions for any current/past students willing to chime in (or future students who know the answers)! An international perspective would be helpful for questions 1 and 7!
1) Would any of you be able to comment on the price/ease of process for acquiring health insurance? Also, have you or anyone you know needed to use the healthcare services in PEI? What is the availability of health services on the island?
2) Do students get to use UPEI facilities or engage in UPEI activities? Like using the fitness center/gym or participating in intramurals? What kinds of activities or clubs are available for vet students? (This is not super important, but good to know!)
3) Are there opportunities for students to work at the vet hospital? Can first years spend time shadowing at the hospital?
4) Is the style of teaching mostly lecture-based for the first couple of years? How do you like the teaching style?
5) Are there study abroad opportunities?
6) Are there research opportunities?
7) Were there any surprise costs/obstacles when moving to PEI as an international?
I know this is a lot! If anyone can answer any of these questions, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!!

I asked about this and was told that we should receive a letter in June about our financial aid options. I am coming from the US though (and need the FAFSA to be processed) so it may be different for Canadian students.Does anyone know when/if accepted students get a financial aid package?
I’m wondering the same thing, being hopeful! What are the chances we hear about interviews tomorrow?
Me either! C/o 2022 heard about invites on March 16th, and c/o 2023 heard on the 14th according to past threads. Last year they heard much later (bc covid) but I’m hoping we have good odds of hearing in the coming week like the other years🙂Nothing today!
Yeah, usually the Friday before St Patty’s is the norm, that’s why many of us thought today would be it!Me either! I haven’t yet :/Hey, did anyone from Newfoundland get an email?
That’s what I’m thinking! Don’t panic! The registrars office closes at 4 so I’m taking a wild guess that they sent a few emails out and will continue tomorrow 🙂 it’s a new admissions coordinator this year so I’m assuming that she’s doing things differently and not sending all emails on the same dayOk in panic mode! I guess good chance the rest of us will hear tomorrow?
Yes I did!Anyone from NB hear today?
Yes, heard at 3:52 pm yesterdayAnyone from NB hear today?
My friend heard this morning about her interview, yes!Has anyone from Prince Edward Island heard if they got an interview yet?

Yep haha I just want the bandaid ripped off so I can try try try again! 😅It should be illegal to send out rejections and acceptances separately 🙄
Do you think that’s what they’re doing? 😩 I’m from NL and haven’t heard anything yet, I’m so nervousIt should be illegal to send out rejections and acceptances separately 🙄
