Hey guys, I checked my online page this morning... and I seem to have a matriculation agreement as well! I seriously hope this means what I think it does!!! 😀

Hey, I didn't get ANYTHING updated on my online status, so I was pretty sure I either got WL or rejected.

BUT I called the office this morning just in case, and it looks like I got accepted!!!

So for those of you still waiting (and don't see anything online yet), don't despair.

I inteviewed on 1/23 and met so many wondeful people. I hope we all made it in. Good luck everyone! 👍

congratulations to those who got accepted!

Congrats to the recently accepted peeps👍

Anyone know when the second deposit is due?

Anyone else call today and was told to call tomorrow?

Hmm, it seems that they should tell you today. Everyone who was expecting something should give them a call. Congrats to all acceptances!

i'm in!!!! soooo awesome!

Joe, have you decided where you're going yet? Have you heard back from Nova?? If you do decide to attend, we should totally start a professional string quartet like we discussed earlier... I'm sure we can find a decent violinist somewhere or I guess I can do violin if we can find a violist... and we should call ourselves the MWU String Quartet or the Glendale String Quartet available for hire at weddings, receptions, formal events, and charities 😀

*edit* I was told official letters will arrive sometime next week, along with the deposit due date.

I walked in and spoke the admissions councelor this past Friday due to my application being on pre-interview hold and handed in a LOI. She told me that there are less than 125 students that are accepted thus far and they go for about 250. There last interview date will be May 5th. I checked my email 5 days later and i got an invitation for interview i scheduled it for 5/2 anyone else scheduled for that date? I was pretty excited b/c azcom is my first choice since I live in phoenix.

Does anyone know when first years can move into the on-campus housing?

That was pretty tricky of the adcom to tell us to wait till today to call, but after seeing the previous posts I frantically called in yesterday to find out I was also accepted!! (but my matriculation agreement thing hasn't changed online)

Congrats to everyone else who recently heard! This is my first acceptance so I'm REALLY excited! 🙂

Hey guys, I'm thinking about putting down my matriculation and housing deposit today (I am about 95% sure I'll be attending school here).

Any current students have particular feelings on living on campus? Are there a lot of D.O. students who live on campus? I am single, and don't have pets... so it may be a good idea. I was trying to find apartment pictures to help me decide which one to pick... but I can't find any pictures. 🙁 If any current students have pics of their place, I'd be most grateful.

In fact, I am thinking about coming down to Phoenix for the weekend, so if anyone's around this weekend who would be willing to show me (and possibly my folks) around the on-campus apartments, I'd be most grateful. 🙂 My family has never seen the campus, so I'm sure they'd love to check it out. I'm currently thinking about the 1bdr/1den apartment or the 1bdr luxury apt, though both of those are pretty costly ($730-$885, respectively). Maybe sharing a 2 bedroom with someone might be a good idea, though I am wondering if it's better to try to find someone through SDN or just let the school assign me someone.

Update: I just talked to my family, and they are totally interested in checking out the campus/apartments. If anyone is around this weekend to give us an informal tour of the place, that would be really sweet. Thanks!

Hello everyone. After my interview on 1/23, a fourth year rode in the same supershuttle on the way to skyharbor. He had nothing but praise for the quality of the rotation sites and mentioned that he was able to deliver over 30 babies at one hospital. I was thoroughly impressed with AZCOM during my interview, and my only reservation is the class increase and its effect on rotations. Goodluck!

If you click on the 'accepted student checklist' tab on you MWU online page, it says the due date for the $1,000 deposit. Mine happens to be Feb 25th, so I assume your date must be around the same time, as I was just accepted 2 days ago.

Congrats on your acceptance!

Hey rkaz, about on campus housing, I'm applying for it now but it seems that assignments will go out in the middle of March. If you ask around the Osteo thread that has a few living arrangement threads going, someone might able to help you out.

Congrats nerds on the acceptance! Are you going to be there in Fall?

I had the same problem. Call the admissions office, the secretary was very nice and she fixed it. I think it has something to do with the system not automatically updating your page or something like that. So she just went in and did it manually.

By the way, congrats!

Has anyone received the letter/packet yet? Is everything in there the same as the online pages?

My online status still hasn't changed yet and I'm too lazy to fix it.

Funny thing is I don't think I ever got a packet. Everything has been taken care of online. I think it would be a good idea to fix your online status; that's really all you need anyway.

Hi Renny. I haven't heard back from NOVA. I actually hope AZCOM delays the acceptance letters so I'm not sending thousands of dollars in deposits to multiple schools. I'm with you on forming a quartet; it would be a great way to decompress from studying. What are your other options for schools?

No kidding. I think if you called the office and asked for an extension they would be okay with that -- I did the same thing for another school and it was no problem.

As for other schools, I got WL at Creighton and won't hear back from them until after May 15th, and should be hearing back from both UA (Arizona) schools by the end of this month. If I get into any of those three I will be attending, but if not, it looks like AZCOM 2013 for me 🙂

I'll be coming to campus this Thursday afternoon, and will bring my parents with me to check out the campus (as they haven't seen it yet). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any students offering to show us around this weekend (I don't even know where to ask current students), so I figure that if we go on a weekday then maybe the school will be able to provide some resources. I am also hoping to check out the on-campus apartments, so I am hoping that if I can't find an on-campus student to show me around, then maybe a staff member from the housing office will be kind enough. It's a bit frustrating though, as I don't even know who I can ask to show us around.

I am wondering if there happens to be an interview group on Thursday. On my interview day, our student 'tour guide' didn't take us to see the on-campus housing. So I have no idea what the housing facilities are like. However, I've heard that many interview groups go to see the housing. Thus I'm wondering if me and my parents couldn't tag along with an interview tour group...I'll have to ask the admissions office. I wouldn't wear a suit again now that I've been accepted, but I'd at least dress up a bit so I don't look totally out of place amongst the interviewers. 😉

There is a guy at the student housing office who will show you around. I think you can find a phone number and set up an appointment just be sure, but I can just go whenever, so it wasn't a problem.

If I have time, I'll look it up. I promised someone earlier that I was also do the AZCOM SMP thread soon but I've been lazy with that too.

Thanks guys for the deposit info!!! Still debating between LECOM Erie, ATSU-SOMA and AZCOM .... choices, choices, but I'm going to have to decide soon!

My online applicant status finally got fixed today, but I am still confused on how we apply for the new on-campus housing for the fall. Is it online or do we have to pay the deposit first to get the information? Also, does anyone know if spots have already been filled? I remember they were pretty much full when I came during the summer for the master's program.

I want to split a 2 bd/2 ba with somebody (the newer ones with W/D and dishwasher) and I'm wondering if there's another thread started on prospective roommate options. I'm not really picky except I hate when dishes clutter in the sink (esp. if there's a dishwasher available) or when the common areas are left messy, but I think most people have the same basic standards of living 🙂

U should stay through the weekend. Its all star week here in AZ. All major artist are performing throughout the clubs take your parents to a tour there? Just an idea 🙂

are there any statistics on how many people get interviewed. how many people get offered admissions? The out of state students? Student demographics?

Thanks Flu. I've talked with Jose in the housing department, and he has offered to show me around the apartments when I come to campus on Thursday afternoon. You are correct - the assignments go out in mid-March, but now is a great time to apply.

Hi Renny, you can apply for housing only after you submit your matriculation deposit. Once you pay the matriculation deposit online, then the tabs change and there is an area to apply for housing on your online page. You can also pay your $500 housing deposit online, and rank your on-campus housing choices. Last year housing was already full at this time. Jose said that this year housing has been filling up more slowly - they are about 60-70% full at this time. The new apartments are not yet available, as they are still being built - but those should be ready right before school starts.

All star week? I must be totally out of the loop... what's that about? I'll think about staying back for the weekend... which artists are performing this weekend? Where? I'll be glad to hear more if you have any info. 🙂

I don't know the exact numbers - but I can give you some pretty ballpark info, from what I've heard from the admissions office. They've had about 3,000 people apply. They give out about 500 interviews. They accept about 350-400+ people (this includes getting accepted off the waiting list), and 250 people enroll. So the hardest part is getting the interview.... once you get the interview, it means that they are already okay with your numbers/stats and just want to get to see if your personal characteristics fit well. Once you get selected for an interview, your chances are VERY good.

Is there a second deposit? If yes, when is it due? I've emailed admissions and lookes on the site/portal but all leads to epic fail. Anyone?

NBA all stars. Pretty much the best of the best basketball players are coming to AZ to play. Huge event. So far Ive heard Chris Brown, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, maybe Rheanna and more are performing. Axis Radius club will be rent out by Snoop. If you want to enjoy the night life I would recommend going to Old Town Scottsdale. There all there. As for locations of performance, Im not quite sure yet.

Hey Rhaz,
Would you mind posting, or PM'ing me, what you thought about the on campus apartments after you see them on thursday? I'm not planning on paying my deposit for a few more weeks, so hopefully that's not too late to apply for on campus housing..but I also may be be coming down with my parents (from Michigan) so they can see the school, but it would be nice to hear about the apartments a little more!
Thank you!!

Hey Guys/Gals I'm a third year at the university of iowa and I'm basically asking anyone who applied too or is going to AZCOM on their general admission statistics. GPA, MCAT, strength of LOR and extra's. I got alot of information from the school in general but I never feel that a School's admissions advisor gives the correct Stats out. I wanna know from students like myself how the application process was at AZCOM....the more details the better thanks guys!

<------ Just start clicking everyone's mdapplicants 😉

Yeah, TeamZissou and I have almost identical stats and we both made it in, so that should say something 👍 Good luck!!

Hey guys! I'm canceling my interview for the 23rd so if you're looking for an earlier date the 23rd should be open online 🙂

Does anyone know if the school will give you an extention to pay the deposit?

I expect to hear back from other schools roughly the same time my deposit is due, and I don't want to have to rush the decision.

I don't know about extensions; I would just call them and see.

Good luck on the 27th Dr. Frankenstein. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks Flushot Ill be needing it. AZCOM is my first choice if I had to pick especially since I live here. Plus my older brother got accepted for the 09 year so us two being in the same med school same year would be so awesome. Any advice for the interviews? Any would be appreciated.

I checked the interview schedule right now and found an earlier spot. Ill be interviewing this friday 2/20. I first signed up for 4/2. Thank God for the people who cancelled 🙂👍

I believe that is also the last day of the class for this quarter (not counting finals week), so it might be crazy then.

Good luck on your interview! Check the AZCOM interview feedback because it is pretty accurate. I was going to write one but laziness overcame me and I also didn't have anything really new to add to the existing pool. I might just suck it up and do it.

Do you have anything specific you'd like to know?

Hi guys, I visited campus this week with my parents and was really impressed. The housing is directly behind the school... only a 2-3 min walk to classes. I have put a housing deposit, as I personally think it's totally worth being that close to class (though some people who need a more distinct separation between school/home life may want to live off campus). Unfortunately I still couldn't see the insides of the apartments, as I didn't have anyone to ask to show me their place. The clubhouse is also nice too, as it's open 24/7 with your student id, and has an exercise room and a kitchen and place to hang out. There is also parking right next to the housing, though covered parking costs a bit extra. Pets are not allowed in on-campus apartments. I like the fact that the housing is so close to class, that I could easily go back to my place to have lunch instead of eating on campus, as the on-campus cafeteria has limited choices.

For those arriving from out-of-state (especially those without families), I personally think living on-campus seems like a good idea. It makes you feel more connected to the school, especially as you will be near other students and can participate in student clubs/organizations etc. I heard they have resident assistants and such... which may remind you a bit too much of dorm life in college, but at least it would help people to feel more involved and less isolated. The housing director told me that approximately 30% of the med students live on campus (most for the first 2-3 years, though they don't live there for 4th year). So all-in-all, it seemed fairly nice.

thanks for the housing description. i myself wanted to know a little more, so that really helped. how much is parking, exactly? and how much extra is it for covered parking?

anyway, i'm glad i had put my deposit down, especially after reading your review.
