Finished my last supplemental essay (until I get Wisconsin's) HORRAY! Now I just need to submit them all and spend more money. Double horray!

Also, just need to submit VMCAS since is basically done besides freaking out over LORs (who have all reassured me to stop freaking out and two of whom I knew would be rather last minute, but still freaking out). But the $$$ for that is scary!

Yeah, the money part does not make me happy. But I was pleased that I chose 6 schools because after 6 the price for each one went up.

Same here! Was planning on applying to 6 anyway, but it was really nice when I divided it out and noticed that also.

Now just being too lazy to get out of bed and go find a credit card to submit Illinois' supplemental. Snuggling with the puppy and watching TV is much better than spending hundreds of dollars!

I know. I know. There are people that won't like it, and no, she isn't the only one who's read it but I am in panic mode right now so everything sets me off. I wasn't like this last time. But this cycle I'm a wreck

I know. I know. There are people that won't like it, and no, she isn't the only one who's read it but I am in panic mode right now so everything sets me off. I wasn't like this last time. But this cycle I'm a wreck

You can do it! Just keep telling yourself, this is YOUR personal statement. First and foremost, it should be what you want it to be.

Also, I have a very low opinion of people who tell you they don't like your peice of writing but don't offer any real constructive criticism. Saying an essay is "story time" is not constructive.

Only one of my four have submitted! I'm seriously freaking that I'm going to be sitting there at 11:45 (central) tuesday waiting for them! One contacted me on his own and assured me it would be done. I've prompted my boss, according to her the form can only be sent from a PC and she has to find time to go somewhere she can use another computer?

I'm worried about the only professor I asked (who I need for a requirement!). He gave me trouble about only giving him a month to do it when I asked him, so I don't want to nag him- he's kind of a spitfire, but likes me. I am thinking about delivering a plate of cookies by his office with a "I really appreciate you doing this for me" note. Overkill? 🙄

When my employer (I'm a writing center tutor) finished his LOR, he emailed me to say he'd turned it in and said it was a "damned good letter" for me. 😀

Not overkill. I once got an internship at a place that doesn't give people internships unless they're already in vet school because I sent a handwritten thank-you note to a vet with a book he said he was interested in for letting me interview him. Then, four years later, I called him and asked for an internship and he made it happen, because he remembered the thank-you and the book. No joke. I gave another vet a box of chocolate for letting me shadow him for a few weeks, and he emailed me to say that he wanted me to keep in touch and that if I was in town again I should just call him and see if it was a good day for me to come shadow again, anytime. Cookies and a note will get you far in life.

I gave thank-you notes to all my evaluators last year, and I put a lot of thought and work into them. One of the thank-you notes was autographed by someone famous that I had a chance to meet. You would have to know a little more about me and my relationship with this person to understand why the autograph made it so special (other than it was someone famous). 😛 I also cooked for the clinic that let me shadow them, and I bought souvenirs from my VIDA trip that occurred around the time I was working on the application.

I have 5 LORs, and none of them have submitted theirs yet! Only one of them is in progress. I am really freaking out over it. To be honest, two of them don't surprise me since they submitted evaluations last-minute last year, but I wasn't expecting no one to have submitted yet. I sent reminder e-mails out today, so hopefully they get done.

I did not, but my personal statement also isn't completely finished yet. My experiences since I applied last year are a big part of my personal statement, though.

I didn't. My plan for this essay was basically a revised version of my essay last year, adding in more detail about my experiences working at the animal hospital and dog groomer and what attracts me to the field. When I went through last year's essay, I noticed I ended up putting a lot of negative things in there and made up a lot of excuses for things such as a low number of vet hours and a few B's in bio classes. I'm actually embarrassed I put that kind of stuff in there and after going through it again I'm surprised I got the interviews I did. I didn't want to make my essay seem negative again, and I felt like mentioning not getting in last year would just lead me into having a pity-party rant again. If you can add in a positive spin to what not getting in has affected you, then go for it. I just don't think a personal statement should have a lot of negativity in it though. You are trying to sell yourself, you don't want to make yourself seem undesirable.

LSU doesn't have my transcript. 😱 I sent it August 6, and I have the email from my school that says they sent it. I double checked the address and it's 100% correct, the only difference is the order of two of the lines. I'm freaking out right now and frantically wondering if my other schools got the transcripts. AHHHH!

Amazingly, the Registrar's office was open (I wasn't expecting it to be since there's no classes today for Yom Kippur).

Good news: My other 4 schools all have both of my transcripts and my GRE scores.
More good news: I got them to re-send my transcript and also fax it to LSU.
Bad news: LSU won't actually accept the faxed transcript, just the official one in the mail. So I really hope it gets there by Tuesday...LSU is particularly important for me since it's my IS!

Three of mine were submitted today! And my adviser finally approved my personal statement. I'm going to send it around to two more people to read, and then it will be finished! I'll finally be ready to submit my VMCAS.

So after finding out none of my schools got my GRE scores even though I sent out for them from ETS 3 weeks ago and the check was cashed for it, I got an email this morning from ETS saying they have finally been sent. Anyone know how long it can take for them to get to the schools now that they are pending? The earliest school has the deadline set for the 2nd and I'm freaking out right now

The schools can access them online starting the Wed or Fri after ETS releases the scores.

Definitely not the sob story kind of cry, but more of the "wow our little girl is growing up" kind of cry.

I also had my PS approved by my advisor and one of my LORs.. I think its finally time to stop obsessing over it and hit the submit button on my VMCAs
