C/O 2017 Applicants!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I had a minor panic attack earlier when VMCAS sent out a mass email saying they were having problems with processing credit card payments. I submitted Friday, but of course it didn't get processed right away. My vmcas status is "Mailed" so hopefully it went through. I'm still :scared: nervous that something went wrong and they'll be all like "Nope, no apps for you loserface." It doesn't show up as pending in my bank account yet, but my available balance is a nice exact $725 (8 schools) lower...
I submitted mine yesterday and it doesn't say MAILED yet (still MEETING VMCAS REQUIREMENTS) but I got an email this morning saying it was officially submitted. I poked around a little trying to find the place where I could possibly pay and I didn't find anything.

On an unrelated note, what is everyone's policy on calling schools about whether the official transcripts got there? I ordered mine like 5 weeks ago, except for one which I ordered last week and they said went in the mail Wednesday. I've ordered them a bunch of times and they've never failed before. Do I need to call Auburn and make sure they all got there? Should I wait a few days to make sure my late one got there?

I had called all my schools a few weeks ago to check on transcripts/GRE scores. Most of them said that a) they wouldn't be able to tell me until they got VMCAS and they matched my materials with my app and b) they would contact me if I was missing anything and it was ok to send stuff at that point. I don't think there's any harm in contacting schools, just try to poke around their website first and see if they say anything about that.

To be honest, I'm just going to wait it out. I called a couple of schools earlier this month, and some of the admissions offices got a little biOtchy. ahem... illinois. So that is up to you. Auburn was probably the only school that was actually helpful when I called. Fl has the wonderful portal system. The rest of my schools were much less organized and told me to sit tight. Like sitting tight is possible.

I really kind of adore Iowa State's portal system which has been update so quickly for everything. I'm just going that they've received transcripts and GRE scores, so all other schools hopefully have it as well.

1. I've applied before, and there was a school that didn't get a hard copy of something. They emailed me and asked me to send it asap. Now, I know that doesn't mean they will all do that but some will.

2. I just had a panic attack. The community college I went to eons ago called while I was in class and said they didn't receive my electronic signature and they haven't been able to send out my transcripts. 😱 I mean, there isn't much on them but....they HAVE to go out! So I rushed out to Carson (45 min away) and signed the stupid paper and rushed getting the school to overnight them....... But it's done. They'll be there.......

It'll get there! I'm sending good vibes! :xf::luck:

I called all my schools about a month ago and check with them. They were all super helpful and told me upfront what they had of mine. I'm glad I called through because all the schools got my transcript from my primary school except for one (Purdue). I rechecked the address I sent it to and it was exactly what they wanted so something must have went wrong in the mailing process, but if I hadn't called I wouldn't have known! I would definitely recommend calling just incase!

I think that's the key. I called one of mine three weeks ago and had the same experience. I tried to call another last Friday and not so much. 😳

I called three of mine on Wednesday. Missouri said they'll just tell us when they get to it if we're missing something, and the other two found my stuff. The two schools I didn't call have tracking pages...and my LSU tracker missing my transcript was the only reason I called in the first place.

You're totally right I wasn't even thinking that. I bet people at admissions are wayyyy more irritable now haha

Should we count down the minutes? 10...9...

Good luck everyone!

So now that we're only a few weeks away from apps opening up, I thought I'd check in and see who's planning on applying this year and how far along everyone is. Has anyone finished their PS? Gotten all their recs squared away? Gaining some more fun experience before apps are due?
I've written 4 pages of junk for my PS, but haven't really made it remotely cohesive yet. That's the thing I'm most nervous about, I really have no idea what it's going to look like in the end...
I am an AL resident and a first-time applicant. I have applied to Auburn University and Tuskegee University. I hope that you had luck with your personal statement. I had nearly four or five drafts myself!! To me, that was the toughest part of the application.

yay! I didn't miss the deadline! lol I'm relieved all my references got in in time. 🙂

GOOD LUCK!!!! And I better see you guys at Ohio next year!

First interview news!!!

I had a dream last night that I got an interview. That counts, right?😀

Yay us!!!! I'm glad to have some time to wait. And so so thankful this has been a relatively stressless process so far! Well... Except for crying every time I tried to work on my PS except for the last month I worked on it. But hey! Other than that, mostly not cry worthy. I've forgotten already!

Hey guys! I'm a new member to this forum, but I just wanted to share my excitement, like the rest of you, in submitting my VMCAS! I feel pretty young compared to most other applicants, being only 19, but I definitely share in your stress, anxiety, and impatience during this process.

This year was good for me too. Last year (my first time) was much harder. Last April, my hairstylist wanted to know what was stressful in my life, because she said my hair had fallen out in a way indicitive of stress (go figure, I didn't know that was possible). I told her nothing... she said "It would have been a short, extreme stress about six months ago". October 1. There we go 🙄

Oh snap! Maybe that's why I've been avoiding the hair dresser.. I'm afraid of what she'll say about my stress? Nahh... I'm just cheap and lazy 🙄

Second timers! Woo! :xf:

Welcome and good luck but I still want to slap you 😛

Don't worry, I won't slap you. I'm only recently in the normal age-range since I took a few years off after graduating. I was an 18-year-old junior. 🙂 (I'm 23 now).

Gah! I didn't say I was going to, only that I wanted to.... 😀

(I'm a nice girl, don't worry. I'm only a bully when I get around Emiloo, she's a bad influence 😎)

Lord, ya'll make a girl feel OLD! Age is only a number, right?!?! :scared:

Just wanted to wish everyone good luck with the 2017 VMCAS as a long time creeper. :luck::xf::luck::xf:
