I have a question about sending gre scores...I took the gre on 9/5 and I sent the scores to my schools at the test center but I just checked online and my scores from 9/5 still arent online yet...did they send them out without adding my newest scores?

If you requested your scores to be sent while at the testing sent, then they will be sent out once those scores have been posted/recorded. 🙂

Thats what I thought but on the website it says report date as 9/14/12 next to the schools I sent them to but my scores from 9/5 still arent online. 😕

Maybe it is just taking them longer to post the scores online, not sure. I never had a problem, but I also never looked online. Maybe try calling them to be sure. 🙂

My scores were sent before they showed up online as well. I checked with the schools, and they got the scores, so I'm betting it's fine for you as well.

Those of you who are waiting to submit your VMCAS b/c you are waiting on your evaluators to send in their LORs...you do realize that you can go ahead and submit your app without them, right? That's the one thing that doesn't have to be completed before you hit the submit button, as long as you have all of your evaluators listed.

Just an FYI...

They're waiting in case an evaluator flakes and they need to add another one.

👍 I've heard from enough people to not submit before LORs are in for that reason.

Yeah, you probably could call the VMCAS and ask them to resend the email, but still. I won't be sending until everyone has submitted. I've asked for my last writer to finish this week. We'll see!
Edit: Just looked and saw that my last one is "in progress". At least she's finally opened it! Haha.

My last one still is "new" and not "in progress" despite weekly emails. Ugh!

I've got one that's still "new" despite being one of the first ones I sent. I'm going to have to call the clinic tomorrow; I'm counting on that letter!

Supplemental essays done! Just need to edit and submit all those.

And then really need to get on LOR writers. Kind of starting to want to freak out a tiny bit about that.

Well, I'm all submitted. Although only 2 of my 4 evaluators have turned in their letters. Luckily, the 2 that are in are from my evaluators OOS, and the 2 that haven't submitted yet are people I see every week. Makes it a lot easier to bug them!

Had a LOR submit the night before... I sort of expected it from her, but don't freak out! Just keep them gently reminded that it's due and they'll get done.

And no freaking out everyone!

So apparently my LOR never got the VMCAS email, either time I sent it. I definitely have the right email, though...Really glad I called, and really glad I didn't submit already. I might have to re-do that evaluator with the clinic email instead.

I had to do this for one of my evaluators last year too. It would not send to her regular email so I had to delete her and re-add her with a different email. Good thing you had not submitted yet.

Has your evaluator checked spam folders?

Final checks on essays and submitting supplementals today. :scared:

I just want to fast-forward a couple months!

Good Luck, 2017ers!! You guys are going to do great!! Just think that in one year from now you will all be stressing out over exams and telling this same thing to the c/o 2018! :luck:

YAY!!!!! Almost there!

yeah! I'm going to let it settle there for a day and so long as it looks good on Wednesday, I'm submitting VMCAS. Supplementals, transcripts, GRE scores are already in, so that'll be it. I can't believe I'm so close to being done. :whoa:

...and by "done," I mean getting ready to stalk gmail and my mail carrier. At least we bonded last week over both owning bulldogs.

Well, that's a start. At least you won't be stalking him in a creepy sort of way...😉

I just submitted my supplemental for Iowa, my contract school. Now I only need to submit my VMCAS and my third LOR writer hasn't even started. I'm beginning to feel very pessimistic about this cycle just like last year.

This is me right now:

I'm working on that one right now. But don't worry Hedgie! We can do it!!!!
Right now I'm blasting some awesome essay writing music from my new obsession:
And trying to get **** done. I have a ton of quizzes/exams until apps are do so I need to get my butt in gear!

I have one of four LORs in right now. Eeep.
I work with two of those daily, except one is off starting Saturday for a week and a half for an eye surgery. Only freaking out about that one for now. Trying not to worry too much, because there's still plenty of time left to freak out!

I hope she/he is going to do your letter before they have eye surgery. Might make it a little hard to see the computer screen...

I'm just waiting for one more LOR and I told her I wanted it this week. She's been working on it so hopefully she'll have it in today or tomorrow and then I can submit the VMCAS. I just finished Iowa State's supplemental. Just need to re-read the essays later and pay some monies! This is getting real!

Yes! The evaluator who didn't get the email until the third re-send has now completed my evaluation! Just one more and it's in progress (and conveniently from the person who is actually at my school and therefore easiest to bug about it)!

:scared: Ahh, I'm getting so close to submission now! Why is this freaking me out so much? It didn't freak me out so much when I was going to submit like three weeks ago!

Long time no see everyone! I'm back at it again for round 3. Good luck to everyone applying this cycle.

One of my evaluators just emailed me asking how he should format the letter.....what should I tell him?

My understanding from my LOR's is that you answer a series of questions, have space for comments and then there is an "additional notes" section where they can actually write a letter. And that's like any other letter. They write about their experiences with you, why they think you're going to be a good vet, give some specific examples.

I'm applying to a dual-degree program, and they say they want a CV or resume. They also look at the VMCAS. With that in mind, should I put all my veterinary experiences on my CV? Right now I have the ones that were long-term on there (internships, volunteer positions, research, jobs), which accounts for most of my hours, but there are 6 more short-term shadowing experiences I could put on there. I'm hesitant because they've got the VMCAS, and I don't want to clutter up my CV with "and then I shadowed this vet, and then I shadowed this vet," etc.

Any advice?

I had a section of short shadowing positions under that heading on my CV.
It was kinda like
Academics
BS in micro from this school with gpa
GRE scores

Research
Year doing plant organ culture, PI, techniques/responsibilities

Year cutting open gophers for parasite collection

Employment

Clinic, contact info
Dispatch job

Shadowing
10 hrs ortho surgery at x clinic
6 hrs equine radiology at y place

extracurriculars/other qualifications
Undergrad bio club secretary
Etc

If that makes sense.

But really, put meaningful stuff on there. If you did 8 really cool hours with someone doing cow repro in the field and did a fetotomy and you like LA stuff... It should be there. But if it was an unremarkable 8 hr with an unremarkable vet... It can go by the wayside for clutter.

The problem I'm running into is that all 6 shadowing experiences were meaningful to me. One with a high-tech equine internal med specialist, one with a small animal internal med specialist who is probably the best vet I've ever seen at explaining things to scared/worried owners, one with a mostly-equine large animal vet who is totally my role model for remembering everything about every patient and making sure to recheck everything, one at a small animal hospital where the vets explained every move of every surgery to me, one at a high-tech small animal hospital with really, really cool canine reproduction stuff, one with a small animal/exotics vet who taught me more about rabbits and how to do phone consults than anyone else.

And yet, if I put them all on, I'll add at least 2/3s of a page to my CV, based on how it's formatted. Plus, I did very little but observe and ask questions at all of them.

That all sounds like excellent personal statement fodder. And it goes in your VMACS but honestly each one doesn't need a separate CV entry.
