I think they are waiting to hear back from their accepted students and more notification will go out around May 15th (whether that's before or after I don't know, but I think that's when we should start hearing).

I really believe that this is the case. After the second-look weekend, ppl will begin to make their choices. There are also a lot of other ppl (NOT me), that are holding onto their acceptance just b/c they are too lazy to write a letter, or will just wait until the last possible minute (May 14th) to write/email a withdrawal letter. I predict movement post May-15th. Good luck everyone!

I think why I am confused is that assuming the class is not filled yet, wouldn't they want to have at least 24 accepted students identified PRIOR to second look weekend? It would be frustrating to hear on Friday that you have been accepted, and then have to frantically make travel arrangements.

Agree with Flop... don't they want 24 people prior to second look weekend???

ya I don't get it seems that people who have been rejected or waitlisted had a fast turn around when they were notified... now I still don't get why there some people from the Feb 11th group who haven't heard anything or even Feb group in general...

I think I give up... I will not guess when we will hear... I'll just go with the flow now....

Yeah, I have no idea if the class is filled yet, or if they overaccept. As for the second-look, its this Friday from 4pm-5:30pm, which is rather short and unlike other second-looks...but your right, that would suck if they accept right before the day.

Hmm.... I wish they would just give a date (frankly I don't care when, just SOME reasonably accurate date) and then actually tell us our status. This goes for all schools actually. It is very frustrating to have to rely on rumors as to when we think we might hear something. It is even more frustrating when officials at the school tell you "30 days" then "60 days" then "next week" then "early next week"

Geesh.

That other thread is about UCLA Geffen, which is a completely different process (121 spots), compared to Drews (24 spots). Since Drew is a joint program with Geffen (first two years), then they need to have Geffen approval for each of their own candidates. Sum it up: Different processes, and they are not linked.

I just called, and it sounds like we won't be hearing anything until after the 15th. The impression I got (although the direct message was a bit unclear) is that they are waiting to see how many slots they have after people start declining the acceptances to give out the rest of the acceptances. Sounds like we won't be hearing anything this week.

Agreed - totally frustrating. I think they have designed this process to assess how calm and professional we can be in the face of annoying and irritating situations. SO, let's just sit back and enjoy the sun. Pass the guacomole please. Can I rub some lotion on your back?

What makes you think that they overaccepted? I think that we are in a unique category of people that they don't want to accept (no slots?) but for whatever reason don't want to waitlist or reject. I think Norma secretly just likes talking to us on the phone, and knows that if she gives us a decision we might stop calling.

HAHAHAH well I thought that is what Elastase just said that they overaccepted... ya we are the forgotten people... I honestly think our files slipped through the cracks and now we are just entertainment for admissions

I don't know how much they have overaccepted...and since they have such a small class, I would think it varies year to year on how many ppl keep their spot...I am guessing that they have not overaccepted that much, and are just waiting until May 15th when ppl finally withdraw to do some kind of massive acceptance for ppl that are waiting. Personally, I am considering Geffen more than Drew, but I am very interested in working at Drew during rotations at Geffen, so I am taking the opportunity to see Drew/MLK again, and meet students that would be in the Geffen class. I know you guys are waiting, and I feel bad holding onto it, but I am considering ALL of UCLA vs. Stanford right now, and that includes both Geffen and Drew. I also mentioned that I have ppl at another second look that had not withdrawn their spots at Drew, even though they are definitley NOT considering ucla in any ways...ppl procrastinate on their final decision, but it will all be over soon. Good luck! I hope you guys hear shortly after May 15th!

WOW........ 😱 I hope I am not one of those rejections. It sucks to be waiting for one of only 12 acceptances. With waiting this long I keep forgetting just how small this class will actually be.

The Drew second look was cool on Friday, I didn't realize that it was also along with Geffens which was on Saturday. There was probably around 15 kids there, and they have only accepted 24. Out of all the people that I met, I think over half were a hundred percent sure that they were attending next year. Although, after yesterday there were a couple of kids that were convinced about attending after visiting the UCLA campus.

The Drew class for next year is going to awesome though, I met a lot of cool people. However, I will be withdrawing from Drew, and am now highly thinking about Geffen. I hope if I attend UCLA next year, that the Drew class will let me hang/chill with them! Good luck to you guys/girl waiting, I am sure you will hear back shortly post May 15th.

For some reason I believe I'm on the waitlist but have not received a letter stating that it is the case... But then again I'm OOS 😱 I'm losing hope though and ever since reading Elastase's update that they have accepted 24 and about 1/2 are for sure attending... we are looking at about 9 more acceptances that will be going out

I have not received anything yet. I think we won't be getting anything until after the 15th when they know exactly how many slots they have. Seems like they would rather drag it out and send a direct acceptance to people instead of waitlisting them now and then pulling them off the waitlist. Seems like semantics to me - the class is full, we are waiting for openings, we haven't been rejected. We are for all intents and purposes waitlisted.

I just hope we find out soon - I want to start apartment hunting in June.

Officially withdrew from Drew yesterday! Seriously if Drew is your top choice, I would send in a letter of intent/updates (especially reminding them about your commitment to the underserved, because this program is especially focused on that).

I wouldn't worry about housing, its guaranteed for the first two years...you can live at the Weyburn apartments with most of the Geffen/Drew kids.

I wouldn't worry about housing, its guaranteed for the first two years...you can live at the Weyburn apartments with most of the Geffen/Drew kids.

Thank you for withdrawing Elastase! Can you tell us anything more about the guaranteed housing at Weyburn? I don't know much about it, and the website doesn't explain much about it.
