I'll likely end up taking it while I'm on an externship. Not ideal but at least I'll be at home? I can cry to my mom when it's over?
My roommate did something similar a few years ago because of the chance of bad snowy weather preventing her from getting to the testing center. Definitely seems to help with getting into a zen place before the exam too!Since ours is the same for either OKC or Tulsa, I stayed the night before so I didn't have to get up early and drive. If you can, I highly recommend it. I stayed with a classmate taking it the same day to save some $$.

Do you also need a career counselling/(former) class mom pep talk? SAR already came to me a few weeks ago!I feel ya
My friends are all doing job interviews or starting to work on stuff for the match and I'm just like "Doo dee doo gonna be in school forever"

Well I'm not at school as much as I'd like since hitting my head, but you know where to find me!I mightI haven't had a life crisis in a few days but I'll let you know when the next one hits hahaha
It'll be amphibian infectious disease and pathology related 🙂Do you know what you're doing your PhD in?! I decided this summer to do a PhD after veterinary school as well!

It’s fine a first year I apparently met before but I didn’t know her name until like last week but she knew mineFirst years know my name and I've legit asked, "I'm sorry; I don't know who you are."
This is the story of my life, as I can't recognize anyone and have done a lot of stuff with classes below me/undergrads, so lots of people who I swear I've never seen before in my life know me and say hi. I'm probably a little on the face blindness end of things thoughFirst years know my name and I've legit asked, "I'm sorry; I don't know who you are."
Literally all the time. I've had people stop me outside in a park to say hi and I'm like oooook? I'm sorry I don't remember you. Between my volunteer time at Mercer, being a school ambassador, and teaching suture labs to undergrads, it seems like everyone knows me but I know no oneFirst years know my name and I've legit asked, "I'm sorry; I don't know who you are."
Yayyy welcome to the crazy "in school forever" train!
I mean, my prelim exams are disturbingly close on the horizon and I still don’t know what I want to when I’m all done with this program, sooo...Yep! My mom said something similar when I told my parents. I'm still not 100% what I want to do with a PhD. Having my own lab, being research support/model development or being a principal scientist are all interests. Just found myself being more interested in the research itself along with study design and stuff. I've had experience with neuro and cardiovascular, but am pretty much open to anything translational or studying human disease in an animal mode.l.

What is your PhD in ?
That's a good question
I usually tell people cancer genetics because that's probably the closest?
Alright fam time for a check in.
NAVLE is nigh, the match is nigh, job hunting is nigh, etc.
How we doing? How are we holding up?
Thanks! All my friends are taking it in the first week so they've all gone super study mode, but I'm like "Eh, I've got another 4 weeks" lolI literally just realized that the November-December NAVLE testing window opens up next week. Whoa.
Good luck, everyone! You'll all knock it out of the park. 😉

I thought I had more time and realized today that I've got 12 days left. Thanks! All my friends are taking it in the first week so they've all gone super study mode, but I'm like "Eh, I've got another 4 weeks" lol
Hey, I just want to know that at what percent your vet prep test mode goes, like I just wanted to be more confidentEarly on I was sure I'd finish 100% of VetPrep, then decided I'd be happy if I got to 80%... now 50% is probably a realistic goal.I've been making a giant document with the explanations for questions I got wrong (or just guessed correctly on), which slows me down for sure, but I feel like it's helping. I'm trying to keep the panic at bay, but I really should have been studying more when I was on easier rotations 2-3 months ago. 14 days to go now...
This is just from our internship selection committee here, so other committees may feel differently, but they told us they don't care for rotating internships what variety of vet is writing your letters, it's more about getting the strongest letters you can. If you think that is going to be your strongest option, go with it.Just had one of my letter writers for VIRMP fall through due to unexpected circumstances.
Debating which of my back up possibilities would be the most helpful option... one of them is a large animal clinician (boarded) and I think they would write me a strong letter, possibly the strongest letter out of the other options I'm considering, but I'm applying for small animal rotating...? One of my other letter writers is a boarded small animal clinician, so maybe it would be okay to have a large animal letter too...?
Ugh.I will be glad when all of this is said and done.
