Cornell University CVM c/o 2022 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know when our fall 2017 transcript is due? On the website, they mention June, and if they let us know about admission decisions as early as January, it makes sense that we don’t need to send our transcript before, but I don’t want to miss the deadline...
I emailed admissions about this last week and they responded saying:

"Thank you for your email.

If you are an admitted or alternate candidate we require updated transcripts by June 15th. You would send them to the address on our website or the one below. We also accept electronic transcrpts.

Let us know if you have any further questions and have a great holiday!

Best,

Elena"

hope that helps.

The anticipation for next week is killing me. I'm not going anywhere without my phone Monday and Tuesday lol
I doubt they will be working on Monday. Are you sure they don’t start working on the 8th?

Do they only call those who are accepted ?
In previous years they have called those accepted on the first day back (this year it is the 2nd, last year was the 3rd) and then waitlists and rejections go out in an email a few days later.

Gotcha ! Thank you 🙂

Last year, it looks like some of those who were accepted saw an "enrollment deposit" line pop on their tracking page a few days before they were called. Anyone see something like that yet?

I feel like that was an unintentional leak last year so I’m assuming they figured it out for this year... that doesn’t mean I’ll stop checking my tracking page like a maniac though😉

Yeah pretty sure that was a glitch.

Is there a part of the GRE they look at more than the other? Or overall GRE scores? And does anyone know how many IS applicants there usually are?

At my file review last cycle I was told to retake the GRE to increase my verbal score because supposedly they have data that if you do well on the verbal section you will do well in their program:shrug: not sure about number of IS applicants

If you don't mind me asking, what were your verbal scores that they told you to improve?

I originally got a 154 verbal... but my GPA is also below average so at my file review they said to try to do better on the GRE to make up for that, since GPA and GRE are weighted at 25% each in the admissions formula

Oh no!! I got a 154 on my verbal and a 165 on my quantitative. If they consider the verbal more heavily that sucks

I wouldn’t panic!! A 165 quantitative is super impressive and it’s not like they don’t consider that at all. And if you have a good GPA and experiences it could even it out. I was told that a 154 isn’t terrible it just would’ve helped me to have a higher score since my GPA was lower

If you don't mind me asking, what was you're gpa around? Because I Feel that mine may be considered low for Cornell is well. And may hurt me considering my GRE score for the verbal

What did you get on quant? Most schools I know of value the quant section more than the verbal so I was just wondering where your score was for that for them not to also say to improve that one! I have a better verbal score than quant so I was wondering if maybe it would be ok for Cornell

So nerve wracking !
are we sure they are calling tomorrow ?

I read the past few years posts for Cornell CVM and all the accepted students get a call on January 2nd, assuming that day does not fall on the weekend. Then if you are an alternate/waitlist, or rejected, you should get an email either that Friday or the following Monday.

Was there any mention of a time? Do they do it early in the morning or afternoon?

If they are calling everyone who got accepted, my guess is it is gonna take a big part of the day!

It is going to take most of the day, I think they have between 1 or 2 people calling everyone, starting with IS first.

If anyone needs a laugh before the stress of tomorrow, I just received one of those emails that you send to yourself in the future from 2013 and it said:
"I hope you still want to be a Vet. Don't let boys distract you." 🤣Glad to know 17 year old me was just as, if not more, focused on getting into Vet school hahaha.

Does anyone know how early they call and if it is an unknown caller? So nervous! Cornell is my IS and my top choice!

It should be a 607 area code number, i believe. Good luck

Given how it's 9:15am EST and no one has heard anything, I think they're probably not doing it today. 🙁
We should probably consider they may do it differently this year. As far as I know, they never said they were calling people as soon as school starts again. That’s just how it worked last year. On their website it says that admission decisions will be sent electronically..

Yeah they've never really advertised about doing the phone calls, it's just been a courtesy that they've been doing for years so we assumed they would do it again. But like you said, they could have changed it this year. There's no way of knowing. But I agree that if no one has heard by now they aren't doing calls today...

You just know there is an ad com member monitoring this site and laughing at this panic right now haha. But yeah, I agree that it will not be happening today, or at all if they have changed up how they do it. We might just have to wait for the emails, whenever they decide to send those out.

I was thinking the same thing, must be pretty entertaining

Well this is just painful.

On the bright side, at least this year there isn't that cryptic deposit update thing to the portal! That seemed to be really stressful for last year's applicants.

Dang it, I was really hoping to know by today. 🙁

Congratulations!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you!!

Side note, I wonder if they just started late or if no one on SDN got an early morning call.

THANK YOU!!!!

Gonna throw this out there...the weather is kinda ****ty in NY at the moment, maybe they got a late start because of road delays? Took me an extra half hour to get to work this morning. Not sure how it is in Ithaca though.
