Death Nommy - Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The game feels incoherent. I accept some of the blame for that, since I have been so turbulent in my own reads.

That needs to change regardless.

Could everyone share their top 4+ town reads? The more the better. Let's try to forge some sense of a team.
Clem, Dubz, April, Rae

No, it was a legitimate question since this game is a yeet when majority is reached, it seems a bit haphazard to make random votes without good reason.

Though, I did forget at the time I posted that, that the yeet majority thing starts on Day 2.
The majority vote with 14 players alive would be the 8th vote.

You were this concerned about one vote for Zenge?

I think I'd like Jay to stick around today but have the option to have him on the board tomorrow?

Like in my perfect world we yeet Stagg today and tomorrow our options are fruit, PSV, and Jay I think. Mostly because there is enough distrust of Jay among my village reads that I think that would be important, but I also think given more time he could clear himself if village, and I don't feel strongly enough to vote him out immediately.

But also the odds Stagg doesn't remember to submit his choices regardless of his affiliation are high, so tomorrow in that scenario maybe random!
You just wanna yeet staff lol

Dubz might be town. I should probably town read her.

I am a bit incredulous that she seems to think I'd be more careful as town than as mafia when I think that defies sense, but perhaps I am being a baby.

I want to hear more from rae, potentialsheltervet and indy
How would you describe the posts all three of those players have already made? There's not really a shortage of them.

Part of it is Zenges on my Dubz read.
Unless exactly Dubz and Zenge are wolfing together Zenges doesn’t put that Dubz village read on the thread like that.

No I think you're maybe misunderstanding. I think you'd be equally as careful/that mistake could have happened as either affiliation, I dislike the narrative that because it happened you absolutely can't be a wolf.

That's a good Dubz process. I'll follow that.

Well I didn't say that! AUGH!

You got nothing to base it off ma’am lol
Last time you pulled me in you were wolfing lol
That pop in was wolfy as hell, that is a legit read

That time I made up some crap about his meta that nobody fact checked lol

Current reads:
Zenge
Clem
samac

WZ
genny
fruit
JJJ
SAR
_rae_
April

PSV
Indy
Stagg

Honestly these keep changing as more chatting occurs, so this may all alter as I read through more posts.

Stagg is an obvious choice as they haven't really posted, but they may just be busy and I don't want to go for a low hanging fruit either.

Some concerns about DVMDream

I mean, wouldn't it be a wee bit suspicious for someone to vote for anyone if they didn't think they were wolfy?

Just kind of an obvious thing to say that doesn't lead anywhere. Small point, so feel free to ignore.

I have never played with clem... is this a normal clem thing? Or is this a game mechanic?

This is a response to Clem's self-vote. There's no easier post for mafia to make than the token "what?" response to other players doing token weird things (like self-voting).

Meh, that questioning doesn't convince me of village or wolf. Anyone can ask someone if they have played with a particular person before, that isn't inherently a villager line of questioning.

This was a response to my explanation for town reading samac at the very start of the game.

It's a very easy refutation to pose. "Anyone can say that". Sure. Alright. That doesn't mean anything. Anyone can say anything. We have to make judgments of posts. This just undermines my read.

Kind of an early yeet vote, any particular reason why zenge?

DVM explained later that this question was inspired by concern over the majority vote mechanic. If we take that seriously, we have to believe that DVM thought a single Zenge vote warranted questioning when the majority vote would be the 8th vote for Zenge.

Asking about the vote is fine. The reasoning provided is doubtful to me.

Villagery for now:
Samac- I am kind of trusting other reads here, for now.
JJJ-- only because it would take some boldness as wolf to lead this much in the thread, not saying it isn't possible, just seems less likely on day 1.

Middle ground (honestly just no clear village/wolf vibes from these peeps):
Clem
Zenge
Fruitsalad
Rae

Getting sus:
WZ-- posting but they don't feel as generally villagery as her typical village vibe, but has been some time since I have played.
genny- but then I always find her sus
april- but I have never played with her, so not sure how much I can trust my read right now.

This was a very easy reads list to post when it happened.

Samac was the most consensus town read. The town read on me based on my "boldness" is not uncommon for wolves to use when reading me, because they feel like it's obvious when it isn't. They also dumped me to yellow in their most recent reads list (moments ago) without any visible progression that'd drop me there. The thread is definitely colder on me though, so DVM is following the wave.

The three "sus" reads all come with a "but" that takes away from their meaning. genny and April were both consensus suspects at this stage. It's just an uninspiring set of stances.

All three of these players have made meaningful posts. Wanting more is "fine", but why them?

Spoiled for visual convenience.

Actual town reads of some kind
samac
rae
Indy
Dubz

Would be town reads if they didn't want to kill each other for reasons I cannot understand
Clem
Zenge

No strong feelings
April
PSV
genny
SAR

Suspicion
fruitsalad
DVM
Stagg

Colors are ordered, names within colors are not.

Spoiled for visual convenience.

1. I was legitimately asking if that could be a game mechanic or just a thing Clem would do. Because A. I haven't played in a long time (years) and not sure if games are still doing weird things like giving someone a post restriction. B. I don't know Clem, I need others to help me learn their "normal".

2. That was legitimate and other people pointed out the same concern on your read of samac at that time.

3. I put in the "but" because people often ask me my full reasons for "why" I have those as suspicious and I wanted to be fully transparent.

4. I was going off people I haven't seen post quite as much, names that were sticking out when I looked at the list of players that made me go "hmm, I don't recall any particular feeling off their posts."

You have dropped down on the list because you are all over the damn place and I hate when a single person has probably a fourth of the posts in the game. It reads as trying too hard.

You just said "weh", as a "vibe", when I suggested it's unlikely you're both town. Shouldn't one of you die?
I mean yes I should die obviously

But I'm not super convinced you believe I should die lol

This game feels like a disaster in progress, and I don't feel like anyone else feels that way.

lol

We're never voting out Clem.

Inevitably, later in the game, when people forget why they town read Clem and say "Clem is inscrutable, dead null", return to his start of the game. Mafia will be tempted to throw him into any pot of three just because he's Clem.
Apparently "later in the game" meant like 12 hours

lol

Honestly, I used to get all worked up over these games to where it started to affect me negatively. I just don't anymore. At the end of the day, it is just a random game online played with mostly strangers and some semi-acquaintances.

I refuse to allow it to take up a ton of my time and drive me crazy, it isn't worth it.

That's certainly a good point of view, and I don't mean to suggest people should be obsessing over this thread.

I am referring to the state of people's reads and their postures in the game. Folks are behaving like they're comfortable with the state of affairs when I don't get the impression town is well-positioned at all. I could certainly be wrong about that, but it leads me to feel like I am playing a different game from everyone else.

I think scramble!Jay feels village tbh. He was much cooler headed in the last wolf outing I remember. This feels more like genuine village effort and concern
Though this is true. He definitely had a steady hand when he had a clear agenda.
Unless the wolves don't know who each other is... But not fair to read someone with that assumption

unyeet JJJ

So while he hasn’t felt great and has felt a little flounder I also haven’t felt a lot of resistance for him.

Also doing important things

Wheeeee
