Downstate vs. NYMC

Not in a million years would I think I'll end up in the position of choosing, but here I am

I was leaning toward Downstate for obvious financial reasons. I just found out that NYMC offers me a 15k/year scholarship, which brings the price of the two schools to almost the same level.

So for the same price, Downstate or NYMC?

It's up to you. Do you prefer living near the city or a more suburban feel? Granted, Downstate is in Brooklyn and the city (Manhattan) is a train ride away, but are you IS or OOS resident? Another thing you want to find out would be the NYMC scholarship. Is it renewable for the four years that you're in med school?

I can't speak for NYMC, but DS so far hasn't disappoint. The faculty are great and students truly help one another out and we have a good time after exams. DS's match list is also impressive, with the majority matching in the city.
