On y'all's status page, is spring transcript the only which shows "incomplete“?How about the last row "transcripts"?
Yeah, everything is checkmarked except for the spring grades.

For last year’s class, they accepted 23 biomedical science majors, 23 humanities/social science majors, and 5 computational science/engineering majors. I’m a computational major, so do you think that means that they don’t favor these types of majors or that less people are applying from these fields? For reference, these stats are from their webinars from the fall.

Anyone with a sub 2200 get an interview? I am a HS senior contemplating retaking the SAT for flexmed

Iirc, yes people do get interviews with that score. Obviously, not as common as higher scores (but being from an ivy can help boost your chances a bit). I personally used my ACT score to get the interview.

I would say definitely it's because of few applications. Most of the applicants are still traditional "premed" students. Engineering majors' workload makes premed harder so fewer people will be premed as those majors

Also since I stumbled onto this thread, word of advice to people who get interviews: chances are you sold your flex factor well enough in your essay. MAKE SURE YOU SELL IT IN THE INTERVIEW. I think this was my biggest downfall last year, and my flex factor was not convincing and meaningful enough when asked about it. The flex is what makes or breaks you. Good luck guys!

Thanks for the advice hchou. Is that kinda the focal point of the interview? As in what they ask the most about?

No it was a pretty standard interview, but they will definitely ask it. Remember, this is called Flexmed for a reason. If you don't have a flex, they are better off accepting you in regular cycles when you apply.

I think they give out pre interview rejections a bit after the interview invites. All acceptances and rejections are told by beginning of July though.

@Chandra1234 According to last year’s thread it was March 12, 2018 when the first (and I think only) interview invites were issued and received by email by the Flexmed applicants.
Wait do you mean that everyone that got an interview found out on the same day?

Does submitting my application early have an advantage like applying to medical schools early, or should I take my time before applying?

No I submitted like two days before the deadline

I think this was the case (at least a large majority on the same day)

Any idea how long would they review the.applications @Hchou17

They used to be quicker, but now it usually ends up being done in the beginning of March if I'm not mistaken. I scheduled my interview in April I think

You should be fine!! I got an interview last year and my ACT was only a 31, which I think is like getting a 2050ish on SAT ( I could be wrong)!!! I would not stress too much on that!

Nothing here. Hard to believe only one person on this thread received an interview invite. Anyone else? Hopefully more invites will be sent out next week.

To be quite honest, that is what I was thinking but didn't want to say it. It is a little odd that this forum isn't blowing up like it has every single year when the first batch of interviews came out. However, there is the benefit of doubt so I apologize if that person really got the invite!

When you applied, did you get your adviser sign any type of paper? My adviser will be on sabbatical next semester and I am applying during that time.

No. You need to get LoRs so if your advisor isn't one of them, you're good to go.

Did anyone come across any info on the percent of people being accepted via Flexmed this year? They've been talking for a while that they were planning to increase Flexmed students from 1/3 of the class to 1/2 of the class soon. I know last year's applicants were still accepted at the 1/3 ratio so just wondering if this year is the first time 1/2 will be accepted. If so, that's good for us!

Is this accurate? How do we know?

Has anyone emailed them about when they will send out responses?

What do you mean accurate? https://medicalschoolhq.net/mshq-016-interview-with-mount-sinai-all-about-flexmed/
This is an interview with Dr. David Muller, the dean for medical education at Icahn. Plus, webinars they host noted the same fact. So my question is, they have been talking about it for awhile, but wondering if this cycle is the first time they will actually go the 1/2 route.

The interview was done in 2013. How do you think it will happen this year? What would the number change to in comparison then.

When do we find out??

Do you know how many people applied?

To be quite honest dontknowifimpremed, your guesses to all these questions are probably as good as anyone else. Nobody has a secret connection that lets them know how many applied, when we'll hear back, and so forth.

What's everyones "flex" Factor? dont really have one..

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but you don't have one?? What did you write on your essay question? If you don't have a plan, why are you applying? If you didn't give a clear plan as to what you will do with an acceptance, then your chances of getting accepted are slim to none, since that's the whole point of this program.

whats yours?

As a baseline, I think around 800 (definitely 700+) or so people applied last year and 130 got interviews. From there I'm guessing 50ish got in? I didn't get accepted post interview so idk the number of accepted students last year. And based on last year's dates, I would think an email will go out next week for interview invites since mine came March 12th or so. That was the first day they came out.

As for accepted students this year, it could definitely change this year since the STEP exams for the first flexmed class happened last year, so they said they wanted to compare flexmed scores vs traditional cycle scores on step to see if there were any differences. Depending on the difference they found, I wouldn't be surprised to see them change the accepted students number a bit (higher or lower)

Has anybody called the admissions office this past week to see if they sent interview invites? Last Friday (March 1) post #70 above, someone on this thread said they received an interview invite. Unless that was a hoax, then everybody else still waiting most likely won’t be receiving invites. Because in past years they seem to send the interview invites all at once or at least within a few days of each other. But it is hard to believe that only 1 person on this network received an interview invite. And that poster has not responded to any inquiries to verify the invite was received. Last year they were issued by March 12. If no invite is received by this time next week (March 15) then i guess it’s safe to assume none will be forthcoming?

I believe it was a hoax. The person probably knows we are all anxious and freaking out. He/she most likely did it for the gag. If anyone does call the office please post what they say here. Good luck to you all.
