HoWW I Met Your Mother: Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Oh wait... Got a clarification from STL. The trash-talker and the demoralization were two separate things. So we've got the llama role that has to trash talk and likely knows me and a second role that can demoralize. I was popular with the haters last night, it seems.

Since MJ is so adamant about this being a bad idea unlynch ashgirl but still don't have a stellar feeling about her

Also, I can't vote because we've got a demoralizing role that broke my spirit last night. Likely a WW 101 player, as they mentioned my past llama role. Also likely to be someone close to me, as they called me em jay.

I really can't believe everyone is falling into this ridiculously obvious STL trap. Ashgirl isn't a wolf. And lynching Barney will mess some things up seriously bad. I would strongly encourage you not to unless we've got someone that can revive him after this obvious mistake.

IDK how to best strategically say what I need to say here..... but it boils down to I do NOT think kiling Barney is a bad idea and I have vague enough reason for it (and no. its not wolf dna in me). There is A LOT of redundancy in this game, that much is clear from my own role and its "uniqueness". And my role didnt work on Ashgirl, which was a major "what the hell..." moment for me since it should work on anyone except wolves (though I hope it works on wolves the same way because its just plain fun). Plus I sort of figure ashgirl wont die, but I need to test the theory by actually putting them up on the stake.

Suit yourself, but we need Barney alive for reasons. If this kills a non-wolf Barney I'ma slap the **** out of you.

May I redirect you to my whole purpose this game?

I agree barney could be a villager (STL game. normal rules dont apply). But thats irrelevant to me if I also know they can use their power before I use mine. Which is a game-design issue that implies wolf or immunity to powers. I'd kill to figure out which.

Don't mayors usually get a kill and/or lynch avoidance? Could that explain priority?
Depends. Ashgirl already said she gets to be a tie breaker and her vote counts as 2 votes or something. There could be more that she isn't disclosing but it's not the same abilities every time.

...Aaand the mod liked my post above. Didn't know they did that. I'm guessing it's a message that leaving Ashgirl as mayor will lead to an "interesting" game.

Was actually a mistake lol. Must have pressed it while scrolling tbh.

Based on what happened to me at the Lusty Leopard last night and MJ's comment I would say that lynching ashgirl isn't a great call.

regardless as much as I hated the day one write up, the mods wouldn't hand us a wolf that easy and even if they did there would be some giant string attached so let's maybe not do what they want us too.

THIS JUST IN!

Everyone, quick, turn on your TVs, it's time to watch Sandy read the headlines of today's newspaper!

"Press supports Ashgirl's coronation 100%, asks him to show mercy on village uppercase O period lowercase O"
Can we also discuss this... What?

Lynch DocE

As a wolf he's dangerous and as a villager he cares a great deal more about himself than others, which can be dangerous.

But mostly I don't think the ashgirl vote is a good idea and I can assume that having no one but her up for lynching come deadline when two heads must roll is a horrendous idea.

This talk about chaos is kinda reminding me of cat in the hat though (someone who actually played/modded the game can chime in, I just followed). So I think it's something to remember for later if they're useful for now at least.

I've never seen the show either, but I read the wiki page on Barney today, and they basically describe him as chaos. So I understand where people are coming from with that idea, but it just seems too easy from the write ups, and nothing that easy is ever what it seems.

I'm convinced the lynch probably won't work on her. Still willing to test it though.

:rage:
I should interject that STL loves his powerful chaos roles that have very little chance of winning the game. So there is that. But MJ helped the wolves a lot more than he helped the villagers in that game ( :punch: ). Would not like to see a repeat.

I'm pretty sure the press release came from a player and newish one since they referred to Ashgirl as a he. Could be SOV/LIS I suppose but they don't seem very likely to use an emoticon like that.

Press release seems very similar to the newsletter from OITNB 2.

ETA: If it is, hey STL, you're welcome for the idea 😉
Unfamiliar- what role did that play. I have three midterms between now and next Tuesday. So forgive me for not going and reading another game thread.

No worries. It was an item that was passed around like normal items, and allowed the recipient to submit a post that we (the mods) would post on the thread as the "Prison Newsletter". Nobody was allowed to discuss the existence of the item. I believe the wolves used it once or twice as misdirection, though it also got some useful info out there for the villagers.

RNG lynch snowwhite96

I could see Barney as chaos, but he seems unlikely to be a wolf. Also, Arthur Hobbs (Barney and Marshall's boss), and Zoey are also characters I could see as wolves.

On that note, Ted's original boss (I can't remember his name right now) could also be wolfy.

I don't know, Ashgirl is a pretty blatant gender clue. Could it be deliberate?

For now, lynch @NilocDent because I don't know you.

I agree. Which is why I briefly considered SOV/LIS since they are the only two who could possibly gender switch someone with that name 😀

There are exceptions to every rule

Unlynch doce

Ashgirl lynch is still almost certainly a bad idea given my knowledge

Survive in a game next time. You'll realize all of this is just the same stuff coming up over and over in different permutations. Its all been done before, brah.

btw... i may not be right in *this* situation. But killing the willing, especially the ones who openly admit to a complex role that could be used for mischief, is just good strategy (aka, will succeed more times than not)

your attitude makes me want to change my mind about the lynch vote. but that scooby doo pic you posted for me coupled with your ample endowment make me wanna grind all over you. cognitive dissonance

Out of curiosity, what did you read?
I don't even know. I was in class and misread it. I wouldn't lie about being mute.

This is my first game so lynch or not, I'm learning.

Just checking in...bf made the mistake of introducing me to Civ so I was just playing that for a solid...dear lord like 6 hours.

Definitely think the whole Ashgirl/chaos potential is shady, but it seems a few people know a bit more so I'm willing to hold off for now. Will check in again with a vote. Going to make some food, write some surgery reports and do some laundry.
