HoWW I Met Your Mother: Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was given specific results from someone who said that her role name was not barney. So I'm not sure I believe that. Sorry.
Have you thought about the possibility of someone changing results?

And I have three conversations between myself (Barney) and other characters that would say that is indeed my role name.

If she were no longer Barney I would no longer be able to communicate with her. I am still able to communicate with her, which implies she is still Barney.

Not really. I think STL is playing it fast 'n loose. I think Ashgirl started out as Barney, is no longer Barney, but for game-play purposes STL is treating her like Barney + her new role because if he suddenly told you "you can't PM with her anymore" ..... that would have essentially clued you in that her role changed. The only reason we actually know she was lying is because of Dy's info.

Okay, let's think for a moment. If I changed roles (assuming to someone evil), do you really think that I would keep my immune-to-everything powers? That would make me totally OP, and not even STL would be that crazy.

Who says you're immune to everything?

And, I still don't see that anyone has said you're evil. You're just not a villager anymore, probably.

I never was a villager, I've always been, and am, neutral.

Anyways, it doesn't matter if anyone thinks I'm Barney or not I suppose, though I would suggest looking into the person that gave Dy the info.

You've been playing fast and loose with whats true and whats not. So I think listening to you is a poor plan.

When is this day over so I can determine in what direction to conduct my rage train?

yes, let's out the potential seer, that makes tons of sense!

So, I've got this much out of Ash: She's Barney. She's neutral. She wins on a predetermined night and can win with any other group as long as that night is reached first. She has a billion abilities, which fits a neutral or chaos character, but not a wolf.

Eh, she's basically doomed at this point, so why not share.

I simply meant to investigate, not necessarily out on the thread, since unless forgetting, there's also potential wolf seers as well. But if you want more potential false info and maybe accidentally lynch a villager that's of value, then please continue.

you're neutral. That indicates not villager. But maybe you aren't lying and are just confused

but she keeps calling herself a villager

I didn't mean me. I mean an actual villager of value.

I don't think you're immune to everything. Didn't DocE say that he was able to use an ability on you last night, that failed N1? That makes me think your invincibility has changed. Whether you're immune to killing or not, I have no idea, but it's not true that you're immune to everything.

This sounds oddly familiar 😡

Yeah, Ash has gotta go - she's definitely lying about stuff, who knows if she's actually just neutral. Also just wanted to say thank you to my wingman 🙂

She has a billion abilities, which fits a neutral or chaos character, but not a wolf.

Lots of roles in STL games have a billion abilities. Fits a villager, wolf, or anything else.

I don't really care what Ash is anymore. She's obviously lied, she's pretty clearly not a villager - she needs to be taken off the table so we can focus on finding wolves and have this mess cleared up.

That game taught me never to blindly trust convo linked roles again.. 🙄
Good 😛 😀
Anyway. I should get back to immunology. But basically, having roles like Ash's (or MJ's in Dr. Seuss) around is a mechanic STL likes to use for balancing purposes. She might be useful to us, but it also benefits her to keep the game going as long as possible and here's the big thing: we can never really trust anything she tells us.
So I would like to get rid of her (no hard feels Ash 😀) but that will probably be very difficult. And since she's been outed, the wolves might not even attempt to attack her.

And that's all based on her original role. With her no longer being Barney...even more important to find a way to get her outta here.

This is the story of how I started dating your Aunt Robin:

Things were initially going great with Victoria. She was the perfect girl. Funny, smart, an amazing baker, very good on the eyes, and always selflessly helping others. However, she started to see my true feelings towards Robin the more the three of us decided to hang out.

One day, she confronted me about it. “Ted, you aren’t truly over Robin, are you?”

“That’s crazy talk! Me and her tried things, it didn’t work out, and me and her are just friends now! You have nothing to worry about!”

“But Ted, I am worried. I know you. I see how you look at Robin. Those longing eyes. I know you love me, and our time together has been great the past few months. But I will never be what Robin is to you. I can wait with you, hoping that a switch will flip, that the way you feel about Robin will become the way you feel about me. But it just won’t happen. I think you deep down know it to.”

Ted looks off into the distance. “Victoria, I don’t know what to sa….”

“You don’t need to say anything Ted. I was offered a spot at a culinary school in Germany. I am taking the spot. Long distance wouldn’t have worked anyway. You are a great guy Ted. You are going to make Robin the happiest girl in the world. Now, close your eyes.”

Ted closes his eyes, and leans in for a kiss. Victoria leans in very close to Ted, but far enough away that their lips aren’t touching. Ted can feel Victoria’s sweet breath on his lips. She keeps it this way, teasing him, almost kissing him, but not quite. She whispers, “Ted, count to 5 for me. Then open your eyes.”

Ted starts to say, “I don’t know wha….”

“Just trust me Ted, count to 5.”

“Okay. 1……2……3……4……..5…..” He opens his eyes and Victoria was gone. Staying with Ted for now, he showed up later that night at Robin’s door with the Blue French Horn. Robin was very much wooed by this gesture, which of course led to sexy times for Ted that night. By the next morning, Robin was officially his girlfriend.

However, the story did not end that night for Victoria. Victoria wasn’t entirely truthful as to why she was “going to Germany”. Earlier that day, her bakery was bought out by a law firm for them to set up another office there. Essentially, she was set up by one of the lawyers there, such that he paid off a health safety official to deem her bakery as non-compliant with safety standards, causing her business to streak to a halt. He then offered her a small sum of money to get her out of this situation, which barely allowed her to break even. Unfortunately, she didn’t have another choice, and agreed. What she didn’t know was that the spot in the Germany culinary school was a complete hoax, completely set up by the law firm.

So later that day, she attempted to call the culinary school, explaining that she was accepting the position. To her dismay, she found out at this point that she was attempting to accept did not exist for her and she was not admitted into this exclusive school. Her life was now in shambles. She was unemployed. She just broke up with her boyfriend. She had no place to live as she had just let her lease expire. And her goals had just been dashed.

She called for an emergency meeting with a local psychiatrist. The psychiatrist talked to her for an hour, but to her it seemed that the psychiatrist was more trying to get information out of her as opposed to trying to actually help. At the end of the session, he prescribed her a thing of 60 pills for depression, but noted that serious side effects can happen if too many are taken, and instructed her to stick with the given dosage.

Unfortunately, she had lost her will to live. She paid for the pills with what little money she had left. This was her way out. Her way to escape all of this pain. She walked into a dark alley, a small bottle of vodka and the pills in hand. All of the pills were chugged down, washed down by the entire vial of alcohol. At this point she lay down up against the bricks and went to sleep. And she never woke up. Several minutes later, a man in a very expensive suit walked up to her, laughing. “So predictable, so weak, they all just have no will to live.” And with that, continued on with his evening.

Dead is Ksmi117, Victoria, who could enhance other MALE’s powers by leading up to a kiss with them, or could make a variety of baked goods which would grant extra abilities to those who decided to eat them.

The night did not end here. We next follow Barney throughout the town. He heads out from Maclaren’s bar with his trusty driver, Ranjit, ready to give him a ride. Interestingly enough, the same sequence of events are followed as two nights ago. Ranjit heads over to a booth to start getting his drink on, while Barney meets with his guy, guy to obtain some information on a person of interest to him. What neither Ranjit nor Barney noticed was the person following the two of them. She stayed in the shadows initially watching. After Barney picked up the letter from his contact, the girl immediately approached him. “Hey sexy, can I buy you a drink?” She asked while biting her lower lip.

“Yowza.” Barney immediately rhetorts. “ I mean, I can’t say no to a free drink from a beautiful girl.” Barney didn’t notice the powder that she put in the drink; he was too focused on more important things, like boobs. He started sipping on his drink , and immediately felt fairly light headed. The rest of the night was fairly fuzzy for him. He remembers vaguely being screamed at by his boss. He remembers being punched in the face by one of his loyal friends. But he doesn’t remember being tape recorded.

The next morning, he woke up in his own bed, with something on his bed. It was a tape, with the note on it, “Play me.” He grabs a tape recorder of his own and presses play, and to his dismay hears his own voice. “Of course I am a wolf. I mean I wasn’t originally, I was simply just awesome originally. Now I am awesomer. In fact, possibly, if I may, even awesomerest. Too bad it makes me vulnerable now, that really is a drag.” Barney looks around both panicked and confused. Then he hears the women’s voice. “Gotcha. This is your copy of the recording, but everyone else will hear this recording as of tomorrow. Hope you enjoy your final days in New York City.”

Also to provide a little comedic relief for those who would like it: One of our lucky people last night was rode like a wildebeest on top of the bar, while a separate bartender was filling his mouth up with hard liquor. Oh and a third person was watching all of this, ensuring that the male would be okay.

As usual, important information was found last night. Lynch deadline is set for 8 pm. Only Lusty Leopard may continue pming. Apparently they are the lucky ones this game…Also note that group members may have changed!

Ok, so I feel like it would be a lot easier to understand what was going on if I knew the theme, but this is what I understood...

- ksmi died because of some set up, I don't get what the part with Ted means

- Barney was either hit with truth serum or its all made up. I'm assuming the person with the recorder would know

- Other people were doing other things as per usual

Yes? No? Sorta? Sorry, will likely be less than useful.

The part with Ted is pretty verbatim what happened in the show, minus the lawyers and Victoria actually dying. Victoria left for Germany, Ted gave Robin a blue french horn and they became a thing.

Gotta figure out this Ashgirl thing.
She tried to get elected, and she was.
Probably one item she needed to accomplish.

She had some power by being lynched last night, but note, she was trying not to be lynched.

I would guess she would have put up less of a fight if she were invulnerable to lynch.

I think it is worth trying to lynch her one more time. If that doesn't work, maybe someone has some ability to work on her.

Short of any new info..... (and the writeup hinted there may be something out there.....)

lynch ashgirl

I could see lawyers as wolves maybe - looks like major ex girlfriends probably are out though, since Victoria was a villager.

****lynch ashgirl****

by the way - didn't we lynch two people the first day? Is that not happening anymore? I must have missed something

So I'm gonna say two things thay won't make much sense together.... but mostly because I'm torn.

Lynch ashgirl

Are we sure that constantly going after ashgirl is the right move? I have been really busy (and will remain so until late afternoon today) and haven't been reading the write ups and posts like I should. I want to try to get into STLs mind (scary as that is) and see if I can't get any better idea.

That happened because Fancy died and it was part of her role 🙂.

I agree with this. I'm more inclined to believe there's a wolf that's messing with night results or something to that effect. STL wouldn't hand us a wolf on a silver platter like that.

Just some info for everyone, there are neutral and chaos players (shockingly). Also, in addition to wolves, there are "traitorous wolves" and a "villager charmer" which might be the half faction I mentioned earlier. Also, villagers are capable of winning with at least one other faction.

For what's worth, MJ's explanation of finding Barney and starting a convo matches what he said in the double date two nights ago. However, there seems to be enough evidence the other way right now.

lynch ashgirl

As a heads-up: I was intimidated two nights ago. This cancelled reading the headline the next day and prevented me from talking on the main thread, voting during lynch, and taking any night actions last night. Unless STL does something weird and posts the headline from two nights ago, Sandy won't be on TV today.

I am pretty convinced ash is chaos, as others have said, a la the cat in the hat.
We have seen in STL games that chaos is quite chaotic, and not benign.
It has been stated on the thread if she survives to a certain point she has a win condition. That is not neutral. I like neutrals, they help villagers, but not chaos with win conditions.

I can definitely see her as chaos. I don't disagree with this lynch as much as I'm convinced that it won't get us anywhere at all. STL wouldn't have handed us a sketchy (potentially) chaos character right from day 1 unless she's incredibly difficult to kill off. I know the only way to find out is to try and lynch again; I'm just throwing things out there.

We're likely not going to win with the wolves, but I don't see traitorous wolves being that much better. So is there another one? I guess neutral or chaos.

***lynch ashgirl***

I'm not entirely convinced this will work either, though I fought about peej last game and was all sorts of wrong the whole time pretty much.

I'd guess the villagers, wolves, traitor wolves, and chaos. I don't buy Ashgirl's claim that's she's neutral.

It's the "at least one" part that is a bit weird.

lynch Jilary
I don't think lynching Ashgirl is going to get us anywhere and, since almost all conversation has been focused on her, I don't have much else to go on besides mild feels.

I know i'm a noob in this game but i believe that instead of lynching ashgirl we should look into who this mystery lawyer is because they are obviously a chaos player or a wolf. Jilary is not a wolf i used a block action on her the first night and two people still died. Lynch SOV

I agree with this. I don't think ashgirl will turn out to be a wolf, but I still think she sounds like chaos.

Lynch ashgirl.

Maybe she only had a one-time lynch avoidance. If it doesn't work this time, though, then I agree with stopping trying to lynch her for now.
We're likely not going to win with the wolves, but I don't see traitorous wolves being that much better. So is there another one? I guess neutral or chaos.
Or maybe with the villager charmer, if that's a separate faction. Or with neutral.

No, only 1 person died n1 - FML/Daphne. So far, that's been the only night only one person died.

unlynch ashgirl

What does everyone think about lynch jilary?

Just so you know, blocking someone and still having a kill occur only clears them if we know that there is only one wolf in the game. This early, it means they could still be a wolf and they just aren't the one who did the killing.

I thought wolves killed as a group? Not individually?
