Hi all, I have decent stats but have yet to receive a secondary. I think it has to do with the fact that I barely added this school early last week. I'm still worried, because I've already received secondaries from all the other schools I added at the same time. Do you think it's okay to send admissions an email?

it took them three weeks to send me a secondary.

My stats are about the same and it took me a few weeks to get a secondary, I just got an interview scheduled today for Dec 3rd. Submitted my secondary mid sept.

Thanks dude!

II yesterday! OOS Lizzy M 64. Excited for this interview as I have heard great things about KCU. Interviewing 12/1 🙂

Congratulations! When did you complete?

Also, can anyone tell me language of the complete email? I got two emails after I submitted my secondary but I'm not sure if the second one is the 'complete' email. I submitted my secondary on Oct. 7th, got a 'received' email right away and then got another email on Oct. 9th. Not sure if this is the 'complete' email...

This is my top choice and I'm getting nervous that that even if my application is good they'll run out of interview slots by the time they review it...

Awesome! I'm also interviewing 12/1 so I guess I'll see you there!

Primary app: 06/03/15
secondary invite: 08/13/15
secondary sent: 8/19/15
II: 10/05/15
Interday day: 10/29/15
so excited to hear back in a couple weeks! Their interview was so informal and so much fun - especially being there when the royals were playing in the world series. the students had nothing negative to say about the school and the campus is beautiful with lots of great student resources and facilities!

my stats: 26 MCAT 3.7 cum. GPA 3.7 science GPA with lots of research/clinical/and medical employment experience! fingers crossed! good luck to all of you applying and interviewing! you're really going to LOVE kcumb!!!! 🙂

also - i stayed at the 816 hotel in old westport! it was awesome - 2 free drinks at the bar during happy hour and free shuttle to the university on interview day. old westport is amazing, great food, great nightlife. highly recommend eating at Q39 or the Char Bar while you're there (paul rudd was eating there while i was!!) have fun!!! 🙂

Interviewed on the same day! It was def a great experience, despite the chill during the morning tour lol. Here's hoping we hear back closer to 2-3 weeks instead of 4 😀

Does anyone know whether the classes are pass/fail?
They're graded on an A-F scale, where 94%+ is an A, 90-93 is A-, etc etc. However, they're all curved to an 85% so that the average student is getting a B. For example, if the overall average of a hard class like Neuro is a 76%, everyone gets 9% added to their grade. So if you were at a 76, you go up to an 85, and if you were at a 91, you go up to 100.

Does anyone know about the grocery shopping in the area? Location/Proximity? Are there any health food stores in the area?

@AlteredScale or any other current student

I see KCU'S core sites online; however, they have hundreds of hospital/clinic affiliations and preceptors, which is definitely good. My question is do all 270 students get year-long core sites? Or are they're only a limited amount of year-long positions and all other students are scattered to preceptors?

Thank you for your help!

Whatever city you match at will be where you stay for one year. Some places like KC require you to commute for the preceptor sites while others will all be at a hospital system so you dont need to drive. Either way its a year long clerkship!

That's awesome to hear. I hope having another 150 students soon won't halt this pattern of year-long clerkships for all students.

A good majority of the students if not all of em at the joplin sight will be rotating at Freeman Health in Joplin to hit their mission statement so we will e in the clear!

To any current students:

Is the Year II curriculum on KCU's website updated http://www.kcumb.edu/academics/college-of-osteopathic-medicine/curriculum/? It's in a different format (different classification for classes) compared to Year I (which looks to be correct based on the new curriculum). And it has Neuroscience I repeated in second year which looks off.

Thanks!

if u have an interview in January/Feb, do you still have a shot or is it pretty much waitlist crew? :hungover:

Its different because the new curriculum is first year on the web site the old one is the second year, they havent gotten around to changing it yet!

If anyone wants to share a taxi to the airport after interviews tomorrow (11/10), feel free to message me. I have a flight out at 6:30pm

I am interviewing on Thursday and wanted to look at my secondary app again but there's no way for me to go back to it. Does anyone know how to? I have it on a Doc but not all the questions are on there

Soo Excited! Complete as of last Thursday (11/5) and received my II this afternoon (11/10)!!!!! :soexcited:

Interviewing 12/3 as 12/1 was full. I was expecting to be waiting a while.

I live in the KC area and would love to meet with other interviewees the day before if anyone is interested. 🙂

how long does it generally take to become complete?
I got a "we have received your secondary application" email more than 3 weeks ago but haven't gotten a complete email yet...

It seems variable from what I've seen. Mine took 3 weeks, but others have gone the full 4 weeks and beyond.

You can always call and ask admissions what week they are processing. They are extremely friendly and willing to answer any questions they can answer.

Mine took like 2 months from completion until II, seems we have the same interview date too.

I'm a "non-trad" applicant. As of the the end of this semester roughly: s3.6, c3.7, postbac 4.0, Master's degree in Microbiology, publications, 10+ yrs research experience (academic, small biotech, pharmaceuticals), currently an asst. prof teaching undergraduate microbiology and cell + molecular.

Have known for some time now that I wanted to become a physician. Hopefully this is my chance!

This makes me so happy! I majored in microbiology and helped teach it for a year in undergrad good luck with your interview!

Has anyone else reached out to admissions, received a reply from someone else in the office saying that they'll get back to you, and then...no one ever gets back to you? What is going on?

And yeah it would be good to know if the class is full already or not so we know when to expect waitlist movement.

The honor would be all mine! I believe the opportunity to become a physician and at an amazing institution such as KCU would be an incredible privilege!

Switched my interview to Dec 1st! Would love to interview even sooner if a spot became available.

Thank you so much, I have only received this e-mail.
"KCU-COM has received your secondary application. Once your file is complete, we will review your application to determine your eligibility for an interview.

If you have not already done so, please submit 2 letters of recommendation to the Office of Admissions. Questions about the required letters can be emailed to [email protected]. "

Awesome!! I'm interviewing then too!

Sweet! Well as I said earlier, definitely up for meeting with anyone prior to interview day! So if you or anyone else is interested, let me know!
