EDIT: I realize this question has been asked but classic SDN wont let me delete comments.. Any additional advice would be welcomed, otherwise thanks already.

While I 100% agree with @AlteredScale on these choices, I would highly suggest Q39 or Joe's. Kansas City is famous for BBQ, so having anything else while here may be considered bad form. After all, you may not be in KC again (either by your choice or not). I'm not saying that to be a downer, but I know the food helped play a factor in choosing where I wanted to peruse my medical education

100% agree. Q39 is out of this world!

I could have sworn I read that KCU offers a peds track but now I can't find it on their website. Am I making this up? I could be confusing KCU with another school.

How long does it typically take to hear back from KCU about your status after the interview?

Really excited about interviewing here!! Hope to meet my fellow SDNers on Wednesday!!

anyone know how reliable Uber is here to get you to KCUMB in the morning?

So uber is always good but I honestly think super shuttle has done a fantastic job of getting to places on time. Very very convenient and not as bad as some ubers or taxis 🙂

Also don't know if you're staying at the 816 hotel but if you are there is a complimentary shuttle I believe. Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile

I'd like to know if Uber is reliable during the morning as well, as I won't be staying at a hotel that offers shuttle bus.

I just interviewed today, and I got an uber for the morning, but there was like one uber within 15 minutes. But I wasn't downtown, I was a little bit out of the city, so depends where you are. Downtown it's very reliable according to the students today

So checking out all of the logistics prior to making the flight. 816 does have a shuttle to and from campus and includes breakfast.

Question for locals:

It looks like Supershuttle will be MUCH cheaper than Uber, but would it also be much slower with getting to the airport, considering it is shared?

tomorrow is going to be week 4 of being complete for me! I'm getting so anxious to hear from them!

You pick the time your plane leaves and they will pick you up 2.5 hrs before that. They are very timely 🙂

For those that haven't interviewed yet.

What they say is true: the interview is a very relaxed conversation. If you be yourself you'll get a lot out of it.

Glad to meet all of you guys and gals today 🙂 you were all a fun bunch to hang it with!

Interview went really well. Definitely very relaxed and conversational.

They told us don't expect to hear a result until 6 weeks.

They literally just got the pre-accreditation approval TODAY (for Joplin campus) so they will be modifying their secondary to reflect that and sending out a survey to ascertain your campus preference (at least for interviewees).

Pre-accreditation for the Joplin campus I'm assuming?

Dang 6 weeks. The wait is going to be killer. But are you allowed to share the type of interview format? 2 on 1 1 on 1 panel?

6 weeks?! Did they say why so long?

I believe this has already been addressed in previous posts but since I was never told not to share anything about the interview, I can say that it was either 2-on-1 or 1-on-1 for 30 min and they only had access to your secondary. Questions will vary depending on your secondary content and the faculty/staff member you have.

I'm guessing that it's because we're the first group of interviews? They are in the middle of a website upgrade too which could possibly be a factor?

Ohh okay thanks! So but wait. They dont ask you anything about your primary? Hmmm the primary has so much info that's surprising. Like they dont want to clarify anything or whatever

The interviews are screened and blinded so that they don't know your grades to keep it unbiased as possible. The committee has ready received your primary extensively, the interview is just adding another piece before it gets sent back for review 🙂

Pre-accreditation for the Joplin campus I'm assuming?

I believe the school received provisional accreditation, not pre because that is a step before and the school should have already gone trough that in order to start recruiting.

So yes at this point, all incoming secondary app invitations should now have an option of choosing which campus you'd like to go to and more information about the Joplin campus will be shared (because the school received provision accred).

okay so the interview is based on secondary. then the remarks that the interviewers make about you that gets sent back to adcom who will review the interview comments along with the gpa/mcat/primary app and ultimately make a final decision?

what about arriving to Kansas and then requesting a super shuttle to 816? Do you have to make that arrangement prior or does the super shuttle run on like an hour basis or something?

did they happen to talk about the clinical rotations/ residency and how the class structure is set up?

@AlteredScale is on the committee and in the next two weeks will tell you what the decision on your candidacy is and how they made the decision.

Edit: in all serious you can't expect a serious answer because no one really knows how decisions are made man. Go to the interview be yourself and see what happens.
