KSU out of state acceptances/rejections

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
not yet...but I have a feeling that all the bad weather up there may push back our decision date a little...this waiting is awful...

I called KSU because I hadn't heard anything, and I spoke with the dean, who was very nice. He told me my application was "on hold" pending some reason to interview me (he told me I was on the border for interviewing), and I might not hear from them until April 14th.

I also know that Kansas State doesn't get state funding in the same way Purdue does. Purdue can allow people to fall out of the program and not lose money; KSU gets paid by the head, and if students fail out after the first semester, they readily pull people from the Carib. to fill spots.

I haven't heard a peep from them since my interview.

I havent heard anything either. Didn't they say we should find out within 2 weeks from our interviews!?!

hey all

last year I got my acceptance from them around jan 27th i think...so you should be hearing soon!

They'll be sending there acceptances/rejections to out of state applicants in the next 2 weeks. I spoke with the admissions office and that's their plan, they send them via physical mail.

Did anyone from out-of-state receive a rejection letter? I definitely have not received an interview invitation, but no rejection either... I think my application is hanging out in no-mans-land.

I'm waiting on pins and needles (as are, I'm sure, about 200 other of you!) to find out whether I got in to KSU out of state. I know the letters should be arriving any day now, and when I imagine going to the mailbox, I shudder...what if the envelope's a small one? What then?!

I know, I know, I'm freaking out. 🙂 But does anyone have any information as far as whether the envelope is a big or a small one? I'm envisioning a very stressful elevator ride up to my apartment. 🙂

Thanks in advance...and good luck to everyone! Hopefully we'll all be classmates next year! 🙂

i would think we would get a large envelope if we are accepted, but with all the diffferences between schools--who knows!!!
I certainly had the biggest frown on my face today when the mailman just handed me a new W2 and nothing else...uggg. Last year everyone knew already...damn weather~~~
the waiting is so torturous!!!
Good luck though,:luck: we should hear this week or next supposedly... (why does that not seem to change, even as the weeks pass???)

also, its good to open the thread again...👍 👍 👍

I've been stalking my mailbox for that K-state letter...and everyday there's a big envelope...and it's not for me. sigh...

As someone who's now applied for the fifth (and last) time (though first time to KSU) and never even gotten an interview until now, I'm certainly stressing out...part of me still doesn't want to know yet, though! I know what it's like to have that last bit of hope dashed. As long as I haven't heard, I still have hope! 🙂 A helpful thought, perhaps...good luck, guys!

I was accepted to the class of 2007 (started in 2003 but chose another school). The envelope was small, and certified (So I had to sign for it). Alternates and rejections were also in small envelopes but not certified. Do not know if they have changed that or not. Good Luck all!:luck:

Have they notified everyone who's getting an interview? I have heard nothing. I got an email in Dec. that said everything's complete with the app except GRE scores. I sent them, but nothing since. Guess I'm out.

Don't despair! If you read the entire thread, you'll see that some people are still on the borderline for being interviewed...so you still have a chance! I think it all depends on how many offers get accepted--I presume there will likely be another round of interviews at some point in the future....anyone else know anything?

yes, philo. I'm one of those border people. If you call the school, you can talk to the dean to be certain. He's really nice. But he said it could take up until April until you hear anything. Nice of them to let you know, huh?

Does anyone have a recent update on when the accept/reject decisions from the January (7th adn 14th) batch of interviews are going to be mailed? They have been pushed back due to the weather problems, but I figured we would have at least heard something by now???

Hi rtha06 - don't know if this helps, but i had to reschedule my interview for this friday. I think this might be the only day to interview for those who couldn't make it due to the weather, but i'm not sure. anyway, i get the impression that we might all have to wait until the end of next week to hear...

I just called the admissions office today and someone there said that the letters went out yesterday so they should be in our hands by the end of the week. Good luck all!

ARARARRARAGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared:

hey everyone, check your mail boxes! acceptances and rejections finally came in! Good luck everyone!

Alas, my mailbox remained bereft of a Kansan letter....I'm one of the unlucky few. How can it take SIX DAYS to travel to the DC area?? What on earth has happened to our mail system??

Another TWO WHOLE DAYS of TORTURE....anyone else out there suffering, too? Grrr....

I interviewed at KState Jan 6, and received an acceptance letter today! Note - it came regular mail, not certified. Good luck everyone!

I'm with ya, Alliecat. :scared: No good mail today.

FYI, the postmark on my letter was 1/31 (Wednesday), so it took 4 days to travel 500 miles.

congrats coprevet--was the acceptance letter for KSU large or regular sized?
Thanks!

Thanks for the comisseration, cookie and philo. Glad to know I'm not the only one! Thanks for the info from the people who've heard....very helpful.

A huge congratulations to k9, coprevet and everyone else who got accepted! Here's hoping we'll be classmates! 🙂

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's fairly obvious, but I'd love to hear from anyone who knows the envelope sizes for accepted and/or waitlisted!!!

So, yeah, I haven't heard yet either! I'm out of town for Superbowl, so I even had my friend check my campus mailbox today--yes, I am that desperate to know!!!!! My stomach tightened when I heard my phone ring since I was really was expecting to get it today, but that was when I thought they were postmarked on 1/30, so I was disappointed to hear my mailbox was empty.

The really frustrating part was that I got a letter from KSU about 1.5 weeks ago, and got really excited, but then it was just my transcript from the online nutrition course I took there, but at least I discovered from the post-mark how long it took to get to NY (which was 4 to 6 days for those who live around there and haven't gotten the letter yet--I can't remember the exact number days).

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting!!!!!!!

Hi,

I got an alternate position at KSU. Does anyone know how many ppl they accepted right off the bat vs. how many are alternates? And if they usually even go into the alternate pool at all?

I know they interviewed about 240 (?) ppl for 50 spots.
and last year they ended up offering ~180 ppl.

I was just wondering if they send out like 50 acceptance letters and all the rest (non-rejected ones) are alternates....or is more like they sent out 100 pr 150 acceptance letters and the rest (non-rejected ones) are alternates?

okay, i'm really bad at explaining. haha. sorry, any info may help me feel better!

I too am on the alternate list. Hopefully I'll get the call. I was on two wait lists last year and did not move off of either.

i'm paranoid that the silence can't be good...

RazrDoc,

No worries on the silence--when I spoke to the dean's office on Friday, they said that ALL letters had been mailed the exact same way--i.e., first class mail. Nothing certified, nothing priority. The time difference is merely thanks to our wonderful postal service. 🙂

A vet I know was wait-listed for KSU, and she said she was "far down" on the list, but she ended up getting accepted. She was also accepted to Penn, however, and that is where she went. She graduated about five years ago now, though, so this is going back a number of years.

Congrats to everyone who's gotten good news, and good luck to those of us still waiting! :luck:

Thanks. The letter was an 8 1/2 by 11 manila envelope.

Oh boy! That would be the first really big envelope I'd be getting from a vet school. 😱

All along, it's always been a slender sheet of paper in an equally slender regular sized envelope!

Except for Colorado, of course. That plumped envelope was such a let-down! 🙁

Alright. Let's all be hoping for the giant envelope!!!!!!! 😍

ok guys, still waiting...why does it take so freaking long???????
ugg....
at least we don't have to sign for them and they will be left if we aren't home...
good luck to all who are still waiting :luck: and for those who got in congrats😍

:scared: now I can join the list of all those who have been waiting anxiously for the past few weeks :scared: For those of us who had make up interviews, they said we should know either way in two weeks at the latest!

Now I am trying not to pick apart every little aspect of my interview...does anyone know if it's really bad that I couldn't quite answer all of their clinical questions???

Good luck to all! (keeping my fingers crossed for good mail, Cookie Bear!!)

I got the big envelope!!!! 😍

I love Kansas!!!!!!!

Yay, Cookie!!!

Yay Cookie!!!!
