Lake Erie (LECOM) Discussion Thread 2015 - 2016

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I interviewed at Seton Hill a month ago but my required letters and credits still have x marks on it. I called and emailed but I'm still waiting for an answer. I am guessing this is just a portal issue but still is making me worried. Anybody experienced this also? Also, if you interviewed at Seton Hill, who makes the final admission decision? Lake Erie ADCOM or is there a specific Seton Hill adcom? thanks...

I interviewed on February 12th and portal just changed today. Can you please reply about how long it took for you to receive your letter? Thank you
I interviewed on Feb 25, my portal changed on Feb 29 and I am still waiting for the letter to arrive :/

I apologize if this has already been answered, but if I am interviewing at SH, am I interviewing for both Erie and SH? I read on last year's forum that you rank which campus you prefer at the end of the SH interview.

I know personal preference and passion about the campus is most important, but are there any pros/cons to picking one campus over the other, specifically does picking one campus over the other increase your probability of acceptance, especially so late in the cycle? - I figure this would be useful if I like both campuses equally and figured I ask. Please no haters respond.

(I posted this last week)
After your interview you rank among LDP at Erie, PBL at Erie, PBL at Seton Hill, the PA acceleration program, and a direct approach (most independence in learning).

For you it will come down to whether or not you like PBL and/or Seton Hill. I'm not sure a specific ranking will give you a strategic advantage. If you're "acceptable" then they'll try to place you at your 1, and if not, 2, etc.

Anyone know if this school is receptive to pre-interview updates and how I can send it if so?

I apologize if this has been asked before. I just couldn't find the information. Thank you.

I believe they are! I sent one in and had an interview invite in the following weeks. I would just give them a call asking who to send it to so that they keep an eye out for it

Not an inclusive list:

Pros for Seton Hill: smaller class size, more relaxed atmosphere, easy access to Pittsburgh (for significant other jobs, "city life" and the airport), all-PBL curriculum, calmer winter. (I also really like most of our faculty, so I'd list them as a pro, but I can't really compare them to the faculty at Erie)
Pros for Erie: multiple pathways, easier to access some faculty/admin, access to big-campus "perks," multiple pathways, Erie is a much bigger town than Greensburg

So yeah-- mostly personal preference. I don't have any insight into probability of acceptance between campuses so I can't help you there.

This is an DO thread, so I'm not sure how a pharmacy interview would be like.

For any pre-interview lurkers like myself:

"The last interview date is May 6th. We will be scheduling interviews into mid-April."

This could have been asked/answered but I couldn't find it.

Any idea if that's for a specific campus or both?

Hmmm I knew I forgot to ask something :smack::thinking:

Well I believe the person I talked to is at Erie but at the same time they didn't say which so I would assume all? Don't take my word for it though.

Seton Hill class of 2020: Really excited for the start of classes guys! Just throwing out good vibes to everyone here and looking forward to meeting my classmates.

As for anyone who is still applying/waiting, keep trying...it took me two cycles and two mcats to get in. If you lose hope, keep trying anyway. Believe me, I've been there. It can be expensive both financially and emotionally. Be your best advocate. Best wishes!

I also called myself and they told me they will interview thru May, but they didn't say when they will stop scheduling interviews. So, they seem to be inconsistent with the info. Also, when I asked they said the times goes for both the SH and Erie campus. And I also asked if the class is currently filled, she said no (another inconsistent answer compare to what earlier posters said when they called). Just something to keep in mind...

Putting my two cents in regarding the class being full: they cannot officially say whether the class has all seats filled until April 2nd, the date after which the final seat deposit is due to confirm your acceptance into LECOM. At that point in time they can gauge how many vacancies there are and move through the alternate list accordingly.

Hi all,

I have an interview April 15th. I know this is very late in the cycle and am wondering if they are now only interviewing for the wait-list like some other DO schools. I see above that after April 2nd they may have seats filled, but if not, will know how many they need to fill seats... So I guess I will have to wait and see?

FWIW, one OMS1 at Seton Hill told my group before the start that he finished his application March 31, interviewed, and got in without going through the waitlist. The situation may or may not be different this year, so take that as you will.

Would you please share when was your application complete and what are your stats, if you don't mind? Thank you.
my application was complete 2/4/2016, my MCAT is a 30 and my cGPA is 3.8 with a 3.87 sGPA, as well as >300 hours volunteer work.

interviewed on 2/15 and still no portal change. Is it supposed to take this long?

what change was it like? I want to know if im missing the change but it seems the same

It should go from something like thank you for interviewing to

"The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days."

I believe I also interviewed Feb 15th and my status changed as of last week as well....hopefully its good news, but I have yet to receive my letter.

Hi guys, I have been wait listed here late January and wanted to ask if anyone knows when the wait list starts to move and how it's ranked or what chance does anyone have of being accepted from the wait list?

I would think after April 1st when the deposit is due and some people don't cough up the dough.

A decision has been made and I interviewed on March 18th.... I hope this is good news that I'm hearing back so soon. These next 30 days will be torture

i interveiwed early feb, maybe first or second week, status changed last week on wednesday and got my letter today - waitlisted.

Has anyone else interviewed 3/18 that has heard back yet other than the one post from above?? (btw good luck)

Can any current students comment on DSP? Do they literally just give you textbook pages and say "Go learn this. The test is Friday"? What kind of guidance/structure does it have?

Hiya all.
Interviewed on mar 15 and got my letter saying i was waitlisted at SH (the highest possible thing I could've gotten considering the dean told us they had given out the max number of acceptances)
hoping to see how others from that date did!

Hi all,

Interviewed on 2/5 and got my acceptance letter three days ago! LECOM Class of 2020! For anyone who is going to ask here are my stats:

cGPA: 3.7
sGPA: 3.6
MCAT: 502

FYI: This is proof they aren't just waitlisting everyone right now.......
