Yea I am. I just graduated from the University of Arkansas this spring. Are you from Arkansas? I like Erie so much better than Fayetteville
just got the interview invite - anyone going to be there on 10/1?
I just got my letter an hour ago, and...
I GOT ACCEPTED!!!!! 😀
Anyone else hear yet??? This is so exciting!!!

When was the letter postmarked? Since I am from Utah it may be an extra day or so for me. I was in the same interview group with you so I hope we all have the same fortune as you!
yeah I just saw my email with the invite. I'm excited.
cool. i'm a little worried about the group interview thing. let's be nice to each other , mkay? 😀
I got my acceptance letter yesterday too 😀 I scared my neighbors when I opened it - I was jumping around and screaming like a crazy person 😛I just got my letter an hour ago, and...

haha i agree. i will be nice. group interviews would be kinda weird. Although there have been a couple posts on here about the group interviews just being an experiment for the first interview group. We shall see.
The matriculation fee is due October 1st, so evidently LECOM is *not* giving accepted students until mid-December like the AACOMAS guidelines state - They're using their 30-day schedule for it. I'm sending in my payment today to secure my spot - I know I won't be interviewing anywhere else before October 1st, and I can't afford to lose it.

Yes, my name is on the the sidewalk!!!! (For those who don't know, University of Arkansas puts your name in the sidewalk once you graduate. It's a longstanding tradition that seems odd but it is really cool to see all the names of those who graduated from there. My name ironically is in front of the building where I took my first class my freshman year.)
Why do you like Erie so much better? I thought it was a great place when I visited and it felt like Fayettteville.
My invite came less than a month after I submitted my secondary, and I actually received it almost a month before my letters were received by LECOM (They didn't receive *any* of my letters until the day before the interview! My pre-medicine committee procrastinated on writing them thinking that nobody would start getting secondaries until August or September...)How long after your applications were complete did you guys get interview invites?

My name will be on the senior walk next May. I am pretty excited about that. I think Erie has more stuff to do on the weekends. The bars are ridiculously cheap and they are much more fun than Dickson St. I felt like Erie was more like my hometown I grew up in (Omaha, Nebraska) then Fayetteville. The weather is much better here too. It's not over 95 and humid everyday. Anything specific you wanna know about the school?
Whoa... not cool. This goes against what they put in the College Info Book on the AACOMAS website, which says you have until December 14th. I would call the admissions office. There have been enough hiccups in the process from what you and the Bradenton applicants have been posting (mostly due to an overhaul of the computer system all Erie campuses share) that I'm guessing this is an error.
Apart from that... congratulations on your acceptance!
I hope so because i just got accepted too!!! I will see you there next year!!!!
Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀
We have to hangout sometime when I get there!
Yep - It's $1,500, which is pretty steep. It was my first choice school though, so I'd been putting money back for it in case I got accepted.how much is the matriculation fee?
edit: nm i think i just found it, its $1500.... thats no joke! gotta think long and hard about holding spot.
Congrats! 🙂I got in as well!!! Glad to know I am going to medical school next year!!👍

The october 1st deadline has really thrown a monkey wrench into my application process. While I liked LECOM very much, I would still like to evaluate other schoold and have a chance to interview and visit before making a final decision.... unfortunately it does not seem like LECOM will budge on their deadline. although it does say under the aacomas traffic guidlines that accepted applicants are suppose to have until dec. 15th to make their final decision. any thoughts on any way to handle this situation... i would just hate to end up losing 1500 dollars
Our day started at 8:00AM and ended at 1:00PM after lunch (There was an optional PBL presentation that ran from 1:00PM to 2:00PM if you were interested.)I do have a question though. I was scheduled to interview Oct. 8, but I have an interview with KCOM on the 9th. Tight. How long does the interview day go for LECOM? I will need to buy a ticket on the 8th after the Erie interview in order to quickly get to Kirksville, take a quick nap and look fresh and energized for my interview on the 9th. Yikes!
I know last year that AACOMAS said most schools generally follow the guidelines of December 15, but they didn't have to. I'm not sure how it is this year. It sucks having to lose a deposit, but what's $1500 in the grand scheme of things? Also, what would happen if this was after Dec 15th and you only had 30 days while still attending interviews? 30 days should be long enough to decide on a school.
My take on the matter is that they felt like the applicants who applied to LECOM really early on were genuinely interested in attending the school if accepted (Kind of like an unofficial early decision type of deal.) Then again, it seems like they're breaking all the norms this year, what with the early interviews/acceptances and surprising their interviewees with group interviews.
I agree LECOM is going about things quite differently this year. After talking to some of my friends who are either just finishing secondaries (and even some who are submitting Primary apps this week), I like my position. I would rather pay $1500 knowing I will be able to attend a good school next year than still anxiously checking my email everyday for invite, etc. Its a price you have to pay to be in a pretty sweet position. I will be mailing my $1500 next week and eating cold cereal for the next few months.

Sorry to sound like a d*ck but a lot of ppl would kill to be in your spot this early in the game. Most of the ppl in my class didn't get accepted until after the middle of January. Imagine not knowing if you will be going to med school next year for 4 more months. The wait is the worst
I just got an invite to interview with LECOM. Very exciting. However, It looks like I might be part of the second or third round of interviews since some of you have already had interviews, and even acceptances. Congrats, by the way.

Yah I know how you feel. I decided to hold off on Touro interviews b/c of their 2 weeks deposit time. 30 days is a little more manageble for me but yeah I would've liked advance notice too for this school. But at the same time I would love to have an acceptance here or somewhere already! CongratsI just wish we would have know ahead of time. I would have pushed my interview date back some. I have done that for other schools. Another school I interviewed at let me know to be aware that the money will be do within two weeks of an acceptance, so I knew that going in. A lot of this whole game is strategy and that change in date without early notice threw me off.
Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know that if you are interviewing and need a place to stay for the night, you can look me up on couchsurfing.com (Annie Griswold - Erie, PA) and request to sleep at my house.
I am a first year at LECOM and live with 3 other first years.
Hope this helps and makes it a little less expensive/stressful experience!
