Independent study pathway. It was my first choice. Have a Bachelor on biology. So, I figured good enough sci background. Also, I hate waking up early.

If anybody has any question about interview exp, application please let me know.

My stat: 3.5 cum 3.4sci mcat 27n with 12 in bio section.

Do you have to choose what learning pathway you like to do during the interview? I only applied to LECOM-Erie and I am waiting for the interview invitation at the moment. I personally like class setting and PBL, though.

What frequently asked interview questions did they ask during your interview?

Yes, you will have to list your preferences in order as to which pathways you prefer. I *think* they said that the pathways with fewer spots don't really start filling up until January/February or so. Then again, I can't say I am 100% certain of my recollection on that.

I'm interviewing this Friday, I'm staying at Days inn if anyone needs a ride...

Interview on Nov 10. Still need to get a DO LOR.

If it's like Bradenton, you may be able to meet with a faculty DO and have them write the letter, not sure if Erie does the same thing

Hey guys,

I just had my interview at LECOM (bradenton) today and was wondering what some of you others who had interviews thought of it. The PBL program seemed interesting but was anyone else a little turned off by the fact that you would be paying 27k a year in tuition to teach yourself? And did anyone else think it was a little fishy that if you don't pay them the $1500 nonrefundable deposit, you won't hear back for an extra 2 months (compared to students who did)?

Thanks in advance guys,
And good luck to everyone with interviews there.

Really? Could you elaborate, either here or via PM. I would appreciate it.

I visited two DOs today, and left a brief portfolio for them to ponder. I really just need them to write a couple paragraphs in exchange for free labor; makes sense to me, hopefully it'll make sense to one of them.

For those who are interviewing in the future. Do not take a cab ride to the hotel if it is by school. Just spent 200 dollars to get out here... yeah 200 dollars.

^

Appreciate the heads up. This whole process is frightfully expensive, and I'm not rich. I'll be sure to book a rental.

Hey! Congrats! I'm an OMSI and we didn't start getting stuff until mid-January last year...so don't freak out if you don't get anything for a while. I got accepted last year in July and didn't really receive any communication until mid-January when they send out a matriculation packet. Your portal status will change to reflect that they have received your deposit though.

Sweet, thanx. I'm def. Attending. Looking for places to stay and such. So pumped!

Received interview invite for Jan 20th today. Do you guys think it would be possible to get an earlier interview if I called?

I mean the staff had the people who didn't have DO letters meet with a DO faculty member and that person wrote them a letter. I have no idea if Erie does the same thing or not... I would call/email and tell them you're trying, but ask about other options...

When were you complete? Did you have to wait a long time to hear from them?

Any physician assistant applying to LECOM-erie under APAP pathway interview on 11/11?

Got denied here pre-interview, but received interview invites from both NSU and KCUMB, and even an MD school. Weird. Still kind of bummed 🙁

Do you mind saying your stats? Congrats on the other interviews. It only takes 1 to get in!

Strange. I wonder if there was something in your application that didn't "fit" with the Adcom.

Yea, they probably just didn't like me for some reason. I think I'm going to contact them about it, just to know how i can improve my application for future reference, if needed. I find it odd though, because I have tons of research experience, shadowing & volunteering. Oh well, just goes to show you can't win them all. Best of luck to you all though!!

That's weird, I was rejected from KCUMB, & I'm on hold @ Nova...
As for tomorrow, my flight is delayed out of Denver, if I'm lucky I'll get to Erie by 2am... F U united airlines! I guess PA isn't meant to be...

Just catch some serious Zs on the flight, and you'll be good to go, bright and early, at 7:45! 👍

Yeah, im not pleased, I'm flying into Cleveland, so once I land, I still have a drive to make... SO irritated... Not to mention I'll need to shower!! UGH!!!

It won't be tooo bad. 😛 They keep you pretty busy, with presentations and stuff. Not a whole lot of just sitting around, which is good. That's when I always start to get super drowsy during interviews after traveling lol.

All checked-in at Days Inn here..just reviewing some papers, preparing my answers mentally and ironing the clothes 😀

And here I am at La Quinta enjoying Transformers. Yup, that's how I prep haha.

Hey guys, so I need some advice and feedback from people who have been interviewed/accepted. I got my interview invite from Erie on 08/08, but scheduled my interview in November because I had received interview offers from 2 other programs I was more interested in (NSU and KCUMB). I'm largely weighing on my decision to cancel or go through with the LECOM interview based on the other schools' decision. Also, we all know how expensive the interview process is for us out of state kids, and I'm hoping to hear from some other midwest programs, and save my money for those. Obviously, if I get a rejection (tears), I'll happily go interview at LECOM, but I'd really like to hear what made this school stand out to you guys, especially from those not from an east coast state. I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, it's just such an expensive process and I am still waiting to hear from quite a few programs (MD and DO)..I feel like I have to be 100% certain before I make the interview investment! I've obviously done my fair share of research on the school, but there's only so much information I can wean from those sources. 😕 Help please and thanks! :biglove:

I am currently stranded in Cleveland... not sure if I'm going to make it... 3 hours of sleep or so... not going to be good...

I think u were in my group today lol..hope it went well! Your answers, experience definitely showed that you will be a great doctor! All the best! 😀 I hope I wasnt too nervous..I was not nervous, but it was freezing cold in that room! did u feel the same?

Did you guys interview at Erie or Seton Hill? I was at Seton Hill on Tuesday and am curious how many interviews they have held there so far.

I believe your group was the 2nd group to interview at Seton Hill... and at the very most it was the 3rd.

Well, I had my hair in a ponytail, and I think I'm the only one who only had 2 hours of sleep and was stranded in Cleveland because of weather 😉 and yes I was freezing the whole time!

We'll see what they say I guess...

Any other interviews coming your way? Good luck with LECOM Erie!!

I have one at SOMA, and I have to schedule one at LMU-DCOM... Good luck to you as well! I'm waitlisted at Bradenton, so I am expecting the same at Erie, but we'll see...

The school is really nice. The actual only drawbacks from me are the weather and the distance from home (from California). Otherwise, the facilities are pretty nice, the faculty is helpful, and I like their numbers 😉 . The different pathways are really cool, too, because you can pick which way you want to study. I'm even ok with the military-schoolesque atmosphere, with the dress code and no food/drink rules.

You should hear their decision first, and if you've been accepted then you can choose to pay the deposit to lock your seat or wait for 2 months and risk not having a seat then. At least that's what I remember them say. It's not that you pay first and then find out whether you're accepted or not. That's why it's a security deposit. It makes sense to me.

As for paying a large sum of money for PBL (and any other pathway), that's how much med schools cost (and LECOM is actually the cheapest DO school in the nation). The purpose of having different pathways is to offer students the options to choose one that best fits their study habit. You're not paying just for the lectures, but also the resources, i.e. professors' help, library, books, etc. LECOM also emphasized that PBL students tend to do a little better on the COMLEX than students in other pathways. This, of course, doesn't imply that PBL is better than other pathways. It only says that it works for students who are motivated and learn most effeciently in a group discussion and independent study setting. PBL is also becoming more popular in other medical schools. I wouldn't think of it the way you were describing. We are only trying to achieve one goal- obtain good education so we can do well on the board. If a pathway does that for you, then choose it.

Fixed for you 😉 TCOM has 12k tuition for Texas residents.

After doing much thought and research I am realizing I would prefer the Seton Hill campus. However, on my secondary I specified my campus of choice as Erie. Currently, my status on the web says my file is "Under Review" (has been for several weeks now). Do you think it will be a big deal to change campus preference now at this point?

During the interview, you're able to rate the learning pathways in order of preference, and you can rate PBL - Seton Hill (as opposed to PBL - Erie) as your number 1 pathway.

Thanks for the info, that is good to know. I did hear that some people were interviewing directly in Seton Hill though and I would prefer to do an interview in the actual location. I suppose it can't hurt to call them and ask if they can update my app.

That's weird. I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that all Seton Hill and Erie interviews are done on the Erie campus.. I could be totally mistaken, so double-check that!

Hello everyone! I have an Oct 21 interview. I know it's a group interview but am kind of clueless about what else is scheduled for the day and what to expect. Can anyone talk about the interview and your day on campus? I appreciate it!

presentation in the morning about lecom and area. then interviews. then presentation about financial aid. then tour. then lunch . then go home its a quick day

Those who interviewed on Oct. 7th, were the questions similar to the ones from earlier interviews? Proudest accomplishment, where do you see yourself in 20 years, inpriational professor, not seeing eye-to-eye with a professor, etc. ?

Not in my group. We had not seeing eye-to-eye with the prof, but none of the rest of those, we did have the "student cheating" kind of question, I was the only one in my group who answered differently than the rest of the students... either way, the questions were pretty standard, just not the ones you listed...
