Sent in the deposit and my portal status changed today. I guess it's official now....I'll be in Erie, PA next summer! I'm a little nervous though...the Eastern United States scares me a bit

I got my LECOM secondary on 9/22 and thought it had an essay and all so I waited and decided to do it today...10/11...took 5 min...damn. wasted nearly 3 weeks. ugh.

We started a thread for LECOM-Erie Class of 2016 if anyone is interested. Its under "Medical Students" and "Class Threads"
What do you guys think? I'm from a bordering state 3.5sgpa 3.51 cgpa PS-6 VR-6 BS-8 tons of research, volunteering/shadowing and other excellent extra circulars. Undergrad is a top 50 school. Great Recommendations as well (Including a pre-med committee letter from my school) .LECOM is my #1 choice, I've always wanted to go to LECOM (even when I was in Middle School). I already have an acceptance to VCOM. Do you think my MCAT is much too low for LECOM? I plan on retaking the mcat in January but still want to see how competitive I am as of right now. Thanks!!!!!!!

look, i've seen people act like jerks on here but another OP called you out on two identical posts where you simply swapped the names of PCOM and LECOM and cornered yourself in a major and unnecessary lie. SDN is an anonymous board and a great resource, I don't know why you needed to lie so blatantly. Stuff like this by pre-meds eats me up because it speaks to the larger dishonesty I have seen over the years (lots of cheating) and fudging or overstating involvement on their apps. It's wrong and in the end, there are only X number of spots for all of us which means it's a zero-sum game. Enough on this tangent.
Even if you had made the posts and said you were simply interested or one school was your number 1 and one was your number 2, fine. I don't tend to respond to people asking for their chances because there are like 2 admissions people on all of SDN and rarely do they post. Everyone else has, at best, anecdotes and the same statistics that everyone else has. If you want to know so badly call the admissions directors directly and ask them. Otherwise, wait for a decision like everyone else. It looks like you are already golden with VCOM, anyway.

I heard that they like to see at least 7 on each section. But if you have an above avg GPA, then they will still consider you.
In my first MCAT score, i had a 6 in verbal and I still got an interview..idk if there is any cutoff- may be you are right that GPA can compensate for this

Question...just got an email saying I was complete today (10-12)...how long do they take to get back to you with an interview date/is this too late?

I completed my secondary a while ago and have yet to send my LoRs but on the admission status it says the committee has made a decision and I'll be receiving a letter in 30 days. I am guessing was rejected. Can anyone confirm this? I rather not send the LoRs if that is true.

So, I interview on the 7th. They sent me an email asking a question. When I called them to reply, I also asked them when the decision was giong to be made. She said, "most likely it has already been made".

Ah, well not a big deal I guess. I knew my chances were slim since I applied late. LECOM wasn't my top choice anyway but it does suck not getting an interview.

I had an interview on the 7th and I have the same message, if you feel ambitious you can search through the thread for the early interviewers to see if that held for it only applying to people who were rejected/waitlisted...
From what I understand from past cycles, if you haven't received an interview invitation (which you will be notified of through e-mail, but you can also check the portal), then any decision made beforehand will be a rejection. You won't be accepted or waitlisted without an interview.. That said, they might have changed their policies and could be doing a sort of "on-hold for interview" status that they could be notifying people of through snail mail.
Were you notified of the interview through email then?
I think I'll call them and see if they can tell me if I'll be given an interview or was reject.

My current status on the portal is that My file is under the review. How long did it usually take for you guys for this status change to either completed review or interview decision?
I think it took about a week, give or take 1 or 2 days. Cant give a more accurate answer since I wasnt checking every day.
I'm deficient 2.7 hours in Biology and I interviewed on 9/23, was placed on alternate list.

Hmm, there was a guy (Cornell08, few post above) with slightly higher scores than yours and was rejected without an interview. Did you apply early?

I interviewed March of this year and got in for the class of 2015. Also, there are at least 3 other people here that interviewed the same day I did.
They did however seem to start waitlisting more people starting January, but I don't think November will be a problem.
I would encourage you to know history of D.O. field and who established it, where was its first campus, etc..we had the surprising question based on this!

It's hard to say for sure what your chances are just by looking at your GPAs and MCAT scores. As you probably know, some people have higher stats and were rejected, some have lower stats and were accepted. I was accepted and here are my stats just FYI:
cGPA 3.47, sGPA 3.41, 28Q (12 PS, 10 BS, 6 VR).
The PhD in neuroscience is awesome, and I think that can only help. GPAs are not very competitive. However, your MCAT score, especially the sciences, may make up for that. I would say go ahead and apply. Good luck!

Seriously, call them! That happened to my husband and his application just slipped through the cracks. It happens, people are humans. It all worked out in the end and he is at LECOM now. Take fate into your own hands and good luck
