LMU c/o 2022 applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone have any stats on the admittance rate after an interview is offered?
If you go to their website this page called "By The Numbers" under their menu has a bunch of stats, but that's the only thing I've ever found that they have. It says the number of apps but nothing like those offered admission and those attended from that number 🙁 they didn't say anything at my interview either about those numbers.

Ahh, heart attack email:

"Thank you for your interest in LMU College of Veterinary Medicine. We are currently processing applications and are still in the process of inviting applicants for spring interviews.

You will be notified of your admissions status in March. Please note that we take a holistic approach in reviewing applications, and each applicant is given a thorough review, which means this process does take time. The decision you will receive will be one of the following:

  • Accepted: Per AAVMC policy, accpeted applicants have until April 17, 2018 to notify schools of their decision to attend.
  • Waitlist: Competitive applicants not offered a seat will remain on the waitlist. Applicants on the waitlist may receive, upon availability, an offer of acceptance up until classes start in August.
  • Deny: Non-competitive applicants, based on the total applicant pool, will be denied a seat.
Every applicant will receive an email with the LMU-CVM decision.

As a reminder, the FASFA is currently open and can be completed. I encourage you to complete this application now. Please note that if you took classes this fall you will still need to send us your official transcript no later than January 31st.

I look forward to working with you throughout the remander of the admissions process. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me."

I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, but I'm a bit surprised that they haven't started accepting some people (especially considering some interviews like me were back in October). I do appreciate that they will notify everyone, regardless of status.

Did everyone get this e-mail? I was waitlisted last year but haven't heard anything this year.I got that e-mail but nothing for an interview.

Maybe email the woman who send the email and ask? I don't think it would hurt to ask.

Last year, I interviewed in early November and received my acceptance in mid-late December. My friend interviewed a week after me and wasn't accepted until Janurary-February. Keep your head up! The waiting game is the worst part.

Did you receive an email like the one above also?

Last year I didn't get my interview invite until January, hang in there everyone!

I will absolutely share my stats. I'm actually in Disney World right now (so magical!), but I will post them tomorrow for sure!
Ahh! I found out I was accepted to a school while I was at Disney World last year too! Haha, seriously... the most magical experience. Congrats!

28 years old, Male, Georgia resident. First time applicant.

Applied: UGA, LMU, and VMCVM.
Interviewed/Accepted/Attending: I have interviewed at LMU and will interview at VMCVM in January. UGA does not do interviews.

Overall GPA: 3.19
Science GPA: 3.49
Last 45 GPA: 3.63

Degree: Biological Science, B.S. (UGA, graduate next May)

GRE (Q/V/W): 148 (30%) / 154 (65%) / 3.0 (18%) I am a horrible standardized test taker.

Veterinary Experience
Small animal technician (10,000 hrs)
Large animal (primarily cattle, small ruminants, and swine) technician (5,000 hrs)

Animal Experience
I have been a cattle and goat farmer most of my life.

Work experience
Veterinary technician (three different practices, spanning 10 years)

Research experience
Research assistant in meat science/muscle biology (about 400 hours)

Extracurriculars/Awards
None.

LORs
Three mixed animal veterinarians
One researcher in animal science

I hope everyone can take comfort from my stats that academics is not all that matters in the game of veterinary admissions. I feel my most competitive asset was simply experience and good references. I have been doing this work for a very, very long time and have continued to fall in love with it even more with each passing day. Also, I made it very clear in my application and interview that I plan on practicing food animal medicine. There truly is a shortage that they are trying to fill and I believe this might have helped their decision.

Thank you so much for sharing those. My stats are similar so I should probably just take a deep breath and relax. But it's so hard:nailbiting:

Congrats!! How did they contact you? Also would you mind telling us when you interviewed and maybe some of your stats? How exciting for you!

What area code of phone number did they call from if you don't mind sharing?

Unrealistic to think they'll call people over the weekend?? Hahaha I interviewed 10/23 and I'm going crazy waiting for a response!! Starting to think maybe I didn't interview well enough even though I know it's still early on :/

Does anyone know if they are done offering interviews?

Hey guys, I know it's hard waiting for interviews/waiting for acceptances. But try to enjoy the holidays and you can start worrying after new years again haha. I know last year I spend my whole holiday sick to my stomach and I really wish I hadn't because it all turned out well in the end. Good luck to all! I survived my first semester of LMU and hopefully you will all be in the same position next year.

Looking through last years LMU thread before I applied here I was totally rooting for you the whole time! So thanks for taking time to write something so kind, it definitely isn't easy being patient but it's nice to know it's temporary either way. Happy holidays and congrats on completing your first semester!! 🙂

Hey all,

Does anyone have any advice or prior experience about getting to campus from the Knoxville airport if you can't drive? I don't have a license...haha. I've been looking around on the internet and I just have no clue whatsoever...

Does anyone know if the interview slots are full?

I don't think there's any kind of shuttle or anything but I think maybe you can try to get can service but it might be expensive (I think I looked into it and found a company but it was over 100 one way). Any shot you have a friend or family member with a license who can tag along?

Uber!

If we haven't received an invite for interview by now, should we just expect it to be a rejection?
