Mine was a total disaster. For some reason my household’s internet has basically gone out today and hasn’t been working all morning! I was frozen almost the whole time and I only got to answer a handful of questions. So embarrassing. I am so upset because this has never happened before- I literally attend class on Zoom every day and have no connection problems, but of course Comcast chooses today to bite the dust. Like my dad is on the phone with Comcast right now trying to figure out what’s going on because we can’t fix it. I know they’ll think I just didn’t check ahead of time that my internet would support a video conference. I feel like crying right now 🙁

Omg I’m so sorry!! They said at the beginning of the interview that they were just as nervous about online interviews as us so I feel like they have to be understanding of circumstances out of your control. 🙁 online meetings are such a learning curve for everyone this year but I know that’s so tough. I’m sure you nailed the questions that you did get asked!!

Anyone know how long it was last year to hear after you interview?

I’m sure you did great!! I was wondering the same thing about how they would manage to ask multiple questions in only 15 minutes. Thank you so much for the advice!
you are so sweet! thank you!! i hope your interview went amazing today 🙂

from what i can gather, they sent out ~50 or so "early acceptances" in december, and then the rest of the acceptances were sent out in february after the last interview date. they could totally change that for this year because of covid though!

I hope so! One of my interviewers seemed to be understanding and made a joke about technology, but my other interviewer seemed really angry about it... like she was rolling her eyes and just stopped trying to communicate, which made me feel so much worse. I mean, they did have a bunch of technical issues on their end today too, so maybe they will be a little understanding?

Thanks! You’re definitely not alone in feeling rushed though because I could tell the interviewers felt rushed when they asked questions as well, so I just tried to make my answers as short & to-the-point as possible! I can’t lie, a few questions definitely caught me off guard on top of the time limit even though I prepared with practice questions beforehand. I feel like everyone feels similarly that it was short, fast, and didn’t give a ton of time to let their true personality shine! I’m sure everyone did great though, we are our own worst critics!

hey! So early acceptances go out inDecember around 50 spots and then they will either accept or waitlist you even into March. I got waitlisted in March and got pulled off the waitlist on April 16th. They did let us know when we applied after Christmas when they’d be sending out the last batch of acceptances so you knew that you were either rejected or waitlisted and those came about 1 week after acceptances.

Anyone planning on logging in for the optional Q&A tomorrow from 12-1? It looks like it’s with both admissions staff & student ambassadors so we can get a good idea of what LMU is like from both perspectives!

Where is the information for this?

Does anyone have any advice? This is my first interview for vet school! (First time OOS). Is it an MMI?

I can’t believe that they give out around 600 interviews

Definitely read over the advice I posted earlier in this thread! I had a not so great experience. Not an MMI, but it honestly felt just as fast as one, and they definitely emphasized the time limit!

i thought they would have had their zoom issues figured out by now hahaha

I can email about it but I’m sure they already know there’s an issue since the meeting probably is not showing any attendees on their end

Yeah I emailed Montana just in case, but they probably are already aware and are working on fixing it if I had to guess!

Update: they just sent an email with a new zoom link so try that one!

is anyone not able to access the tour video Montana just emailed out? The link keeps sending me to an error message page which says my email isn't in their directory

Hey y'all! I just finished my interview- the one thing I'll say as advice for people doing their interview later today or throughout the next few months- BE PREPARED TO ONLY HAVE 15 MINUTES TO INTERVIEW. I was cut off several times and the interviewers would say "hey you're doing great, but we only have 15 minutes so we need to move on to the next question." I had only practiced 30-minute interviews with my career center and this was so much different. Spend only 1 minute or two minutes MAX on your answers. It will fly by, and having your answer cut off can definitely throw you for a loop and knock you off of your rhythm. Overall, I'm feely iffy on how it went. I'm not confident they got a good sense of who I am and I felt so rushed. Definitely a very stressful interview to say the least, especially with the technical difficulties happening right before my interview started.

Hello! Did they mainly ask behavioral type questions? Like about situations with coworkers and conflict and stuff like that? And were you able to ask questions?

thanks!

Yeah, the questions I got were mostly behavioral. I was not given a chance to ask questions at the end, since it was only 15 minutes and they had already cut off several of my answers to get through all of their questions in the time limit. I would still prepare some though because you never know what might happen, especially if there's a technology issue and for some reason, you get put in the zoom early or can't leave the zoom and need to hold a conversation with the interviewers while issues get worked out. Also, there's an optional Q&A session on the Wednesday after the interview so even if you don't have a chance to ask your prepared questions at the interview, you'll have them all ready to go for the Q&A session.

Going off of this, my interviewers did ask me if I had any questions during the very last minute of my interview! Given the time limit they only had about 30 seconds to answer my question but I’d definitely have a few prepared just in case!

Thank you all who have already interviewed for the advice for those of us who have interviews coming up! so excited!!

Hey guys! 1st year vet student here. I just wanted to try to ease some anxiety. LMU is one of the first schools to start sending interview invites and one of the last schools you will probably hear from. I interviewed mid September last year and didn’t hear back until APRIL. It is a long wait, so if you don’t hear back in a couple weeks/months, don’t worry. They do quite a few interviews, last year it was around 800 and they accept 125. If you have any questions, reach out! Good luck everyone!

Hey guys!
OOS here, just had my interview today. Also felt that it was very rushed and that I did not get my personality across. The interviewers didn't show much emotion so it didn't do much for my confidence. I am sure I did much better than I thought! I have been talking to a friend who graduated from LMU CVM this year, she said she got her acceptance in March.

Hey All!
I agree with most of the above sentiments. My (OOS) interview felt very fast and overall I feel that they didn't get to know me. Almost all of my questions were professional/behavioral which was surprising. They accidentally sent me and another interviewee to the same room with the two interviewers, so that was a little awkward until it got sorted. Overall I feel like a 5/10. It wasn't horrible and I don't think it hurt my chances, but I feel like they have a better idea of me from my written app than from the interview, I wish it was longer, and of course, wish it could have been in person instead of on a laptop in my dorm.

That’s a good way to describe it, I felt the exact same way about mine! Like I don’t think it hurt me but I don’t know how much it helped me since I have no idea how they are going to judge 550 people after talking to them for only 15 minutes over Zoom.

Well at least its comforting to know that we all had about the same overall experience with the interview (kinda rushed, interviewers didn't get a good sense of our personality, technology issues) and so the interviewers probably felt the same way as well.

It'll definitely be interesting to see how these unique circumstances affect the admissions process. Maybe the interviews won't hold as much weight as they typically would during the normal admissions cycle. It's an impersonal feeling because instead of getting to shake hands and read body language you're trying to communicate as a tiny little zoom bubble in half the normal time. Good luck y'all, we're all in this together!

I do think that the interviews will be less heavily weighted as they are using the CASPER this year as well...

Hello all! Anyone know if the current interviews are open-file? Were they looking at our stats during the interview?

Thanks!

Hey guys! Just got an interview invite for November! Super excited!

If you have any suggestions please let me know!

Hi all! I took the Casper test on October 13th which was the last day that LMU was accepting it. Did anyone receive an interview before their Casper results were officially sent over to LMU or do you think it took the full 3 weeks for the results to submit to them before you were offered an interview?
Thanks!

I took the Casper test in late September, and it was definitely the full 3-4 weeks before it was sent to the schools, and a few days after I received my interview invite, so I think they have to have the scores before they do a complete review of application. Hope that helps!

I just had my interview this morning... I feel as if it could be done way better. First I waited 5 minutes for the interview to start so I was unsure if everything was working originally and then the interviewers were speaking at a volume that was way too low and I had to make sure I heard the question they asked (which ultimately cost me time). Definitely spend less than a minute or so answering questions as they will simply kick you from the meeting once you've reached the time limit.

I interviewed this morning and they were running about 15 minutes behind but I believe I was one of the last to be interviewed. (11:13 am EST was my time slot). I was placed in a room with two male professors, they introduced themselves and then i got pulled into a different interview with two female professors lol. so I'm not really sure what happened there!!!
but overall the interview flew by very quick and was rapid fire. They didn't ask me to elaborate on any of my answers. I kept my answers pretty short 30-60 secs each and they didn't cut me off. All the questions were behavioral.. "tell me a time you experienced...". I did have time to ask about two questions and give a closing statement at the end.
Good luck everyone!

My Casper test was delivered to LMU about two weeks ago, getting worried that I haven't heard anything from them yet 🙁

Did you take it on October 13th? That is when I took it and I have not heard anything..

hi guys! I applied to LMU through VMCAS and have an interview scheduled for Monday. This will be my first vet school interview! Can those of you who have already interviewed share some of the questions you were asked? I have no idea how to prepare & I am super scared I am going to blow it with the 15-minute time limit!

thanks in advance!

I interviewed today and I actually feel really good about it. I got both behavioral and ethical questions and was able to answer them fully but I am also a fast talker. Now we begin the waiting game!

Would you share if they asked any of the 'basic' questions like: why you want to be a vet?, why LMU? or the dreaded TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF. Since it is so short I would think they would skip the formalities and jump into the nitty-gritty of it. Any enlightenment would be appreciated!
