Ah... Didnt know about other packets.

I am actually staying right on the ocean (below sunset area?) for two nights. Got a really great deal (70/night) through expedia booking it with my flight. I am thinking about possibly driving down to key west and also see some swamp. Might also hit some night clubs in ft l or miami. So ooooooo exciting. Tropical paradise vacation!

Take advantage while you're out there. I would have LOVED to drive to key west. I've always wanted to. Plus, seeing some swamp, and maybe a gator, would have been awesome!

I drove through alligator alley. I even stopped at some of the rest stops along the way to look at the boat ramps down into the swamp. I got some cool pics of birds and dragonflies. No gator sightings though. 🙁

I would have loved a gator photo. My wife is obsessed with gators. She thought I would get ate by one if I got out of the car in the rest area. Ha ha. Her irrational fear of gators is second only to her fear of sharks when I SCUBA dive. :smack:

Hey everyone! Congratulations to everyone who has gotten an acceptance! =) I'm a current OMS-II at TouroCOM in NYC and am scheduled for an interview with Nova as a transfer for 3rd year in a few weeks.

Can anyone whos already had an interview provide some feedback or insight as to their interviewing style as well as questions they ask, any other advice? Thanks everyone and good luck! =)
 
I just found out today that about 75% of the AOA residencies available in the state of Florida are directly affiliated with Nova. And Florida has over 80 residencies available.

This is one of my major draws to the school! As I see it, more residencies = more opportunities to succeed and get your foot in the door.
 
Interviewed sept. 27, just found out wait listed this morning. Anyone know when nova wait lists usually start moving? Isn't it really early to be put on wait list?

I'm pretty sure that none of the waitlists move until April or May (when they're completely done interviewing and whatnot). People get waitlisted as early as the first interview. Good luck to you.
 
I interviewed on 9/20 and no response yet. Called them and they told me that there are no further updates as of yet. Good luck everyone,

That makes the 14 people who didn't match into a residency last year even more of a mystery.

Hmm, yeah. How do you go all the way through med school to the match and then...nothing? Could it be people who wanted into something real specific and weren't about to settle for anything else? I don't know how that works.

I have an interview on the 25th (EXCITED!!). I'm a female and was wondering if anybody(female) wanted to share a hotel room and split the cost with me at Hampton Inn Plantation? I arrive 24th and will leave at 8pm on 25th after the interview. PM ME! Thanx!

Sure! =) I am from Florida originally and couldnt apply to Nova beforehand due to having to retake 1 course and I would really like to be back in the area as well as always loving the school. I have friends that go to Nova and truly love it. =)
 
Soooo they told us we'd hear if we were accepted or not by the 26th (interviewed Oct 4). That makes it 3 weeks and a day of waiting. In the experience of those who interviewed earlier and have heard back, was the wait time less than their projected date? Less than 3 weeks by chance? How long did it take people to hear back? Just wishing I knew already!

Look at my MDApps. I interviewed on 9/11 and heard back on 9/21. I was in the second or third interview group, and in the first batch of students that heard back. They said it took so long because the Dean was "out of town" for a while and couldn't sign our letters.

If your stats on MDApps are correct, you should have no problem... Unless you don't interview well or come across as arrogant. (I am not saying that you are!) You should have several acceptances by the end of the cycle to choose from.

Sorry, the mcat and GPA are not an accurate representation of me. I just put random numbers in there because everyone was talking all about anonymity and whatnot. If any adcom TRIED to identify me in here, I'm sure they could with ease, but I didn't want to just hand it to them with those stats.

On the other note. It appears everyone has received notification from the school before the estimated date so things are looking up for me!:xf:

Hi everyone, I booked a room with 2 queens for the night of 24th at Hampton Inn Plantation. If anyone (female) is planning to stay one night too for the interview on the 25th and would like to split the cost of the room, please PM me! It would be nice to meet a potential classmate and calm some nerves and go to the interview together. BTW, the total came out to be $110 ($109.89 to be exact). Feel free to ask any questions! Interviewed 09/25, no email when everyone got acceptances, voicemail last week giving me a number to call to find out about my admission status. Several attempts at calling, many transfers, and a couple of hours on hold, attempting to call Anastasia directly several times, finally got an answer of "you didn't get an email? I'm surprised, you should have. A decision has been made and you will be notified by mail because I cannot give that information out." I understand it's a big school, many applicants, ect. But why waste my time like this? Why even bother with a phone call telling me to call so that I can find out that a decision has been made?

I was assuming rejection. My interview went horribly and frankly the interviewer was plain rude, not only to me but the other interviewer as well. She was aloof and asked questions that I had already answered, which seems like an utter waste of time in a 15 minute interview. Come home tonight to find an acceptance packet mailed from NOVA :laugh:. Time to celebrate but boy did this school play with me.

To everyone with future interviews, good luck and I hope your experience here will be better than mine was. If you have to call the school for any reason, get ready for a world of frusteration.

I just sent an email to withdraw from nova. I got into my top choice at western comp-NW. It's also arrest school and just fits better for my family.

Nova is an awesome school and I'm gonna miss it!

Haven't sent in my deposit
Haven't withdrawn from KCUMB yet

but I am about to get the t-shirt from the bookstore which means I am in.

Now I just need to figure out what to do until next summer.
 
I am withdrawing my acceptance soon. Hopefully those of you that really love the school can get the opportunity to attend.

Leaving tonight for florida. I got two full days there besides the interview. Anything I should see, eat and/or do while I am there? I am planning on driving down to the key west
