Djl27 - when did you interview? Sorry about the rejection by the way... Luckily you had a back-up!

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to apply here next year and I was wondering what numbers are needed to be minimally competitive for Nova/ numbers needed to get a secondary/interview invite. I just got off the phone with thier admissions and they were not very helpful at all 🙁

Like at least a 3.3 and 26 MCAT?

The average stats last year were

Class of 2016
51% in-state; 49% out-of-state
Avg Undergrad GPA: 3.42
Avg Science GPA: 3.32
Avg MCAT: 27

So numbers around that range should be competitive.

No interview. I submitted my secondary in September. I had 26Q MCATS and 3.4 GPA. Pretty extensive clinical and research as well.

Yeah it is the Wednesday after the review committee meets so there should have been quite a few people with news today. Maybe they just are not in the mood to post or this batch was all non SDN peeps?

Oh... darn! I didn't hear anything today 🙁 Do you know if they email all people for reject/waitlist/accept typically on Wednesdays? Or do people with waitlist/reject have to wait longer? Thanks for the quick reply!

I think they usually send out emails on Friday...

Hey guys, so I've noticed some of you have been checking your status on webstar but mine doesn't seem to say anything. I interviewed last week and it doesn't even say i was invited for interview. Am I just missing where my status should be?

And good luck to everyone, hope we get some good news today 🙂

Webstar never changed for me. You should get an email with interview result

I'm thinking it's gonna be a wait list e-mail but I'm still nervous. Waiting is definitely not fun especially when the future is on the line.

I'm thinking I'll get a wait list email too. Does anyone know how many people have been accepted and how many people are on the wait list?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure mine is going to be Wait listed too. I even dreamed I got waitlisted. This waiting game sucks.

Hey hey now if your interview was really awesome they will make room for you and accept you out right. It isn't just waitlist or rejection at this point, however waitlist is more likely, some one will get awesome news.

What and how do you use the webstar account? I just got the email about my pin# but I have no idea on how to use it. All I have is a Financial Aid tab.

It seems that last round Nova had interviews all the way into May and this round they seem pretty set on not repeating that. I wonder if we will see a lot of waitlist movement after May 15th or if it will be nothing until late June?

i thought that they are only interviewing until the end of march....

also, i'm surprised that no one has reported any news today

Yeah that is what I am saying. I wonder if they will start moving the waitlist earlier then last year.

ohh i see. of course there's no way of telling but i think they might start moving it as early as march depending on if spots open up...

They could but people really don't start dropping seats until after May 15th. Last year they didn't even sit down to review anybody until mid june to start moving the waitlist. I am hoping this year it will be a bit earlier like late may and early June.

Interviewed 2/14 no email yet... I called Anastasia around 12 and left a voicemail asking if there was any "change" to my application. No call back...

I tried to go back but 60 pages is a lot. Do you need to submitt your transcipts before while your application is being reviewed for an interview?

They make a decision based on all the information within an AACOMAS application.

anybody here interview on thursday 2/28 with me?

Yeah, I'm starting my PS now and such. I will do everything in May and turn it in June 1st. Hopefully I'll have an acceptance in August if all goes well :xf: (I'd prefer to reject all DO II's once Nova comes in.

Same here Nova is my number one choice. I will send everything in ASAP and make sure I do Nova Secondary as soon as I get it even if it means delaying another school secondary.

Nova secondary is really short - no essays. It won't delay other schools.

I really don't understand this mentality of delaying other secondaries in favor of any one school. You pre write your personal statement. Why not pre write answers to the secondary questions as well? It's not like they change drastically if at all. Most of them are identical and the individual ones are usually school specific asking you why you want to go there. Don't people do that research prior to applying to the school anyways? LECOM seemed like a great catch with their proximity to my family and gf and their tuition but the moment I read about the draconian rules there they were struck off my list pretty quickly. Obviously do everything before it is due but as great as nova is, I still don't think it's wise to turn down other interviews based off of one acceptance. I will be attending nova but I did attend other interviews after I got in. The other schools didn't seem as attractive to me so I picked nova. You might not feel the same unless you go to other interviews? What if another excellent program offers you a full ride? Would you still go to nova just because?

Tldr- Weigh all your options equally well. And pre write all your secondaries as well.

Just make sure you answer the " Tell us about a medical experience Yes or no?" question correctly.

While people should research the schools, pre writting the secondary doesn't always work out, school have been known to change prompts from time to time. However you are correct most school do ask the same things from their prompts so after you write two or three you have the skeleton for the majority of the secondary. I think it is good advice to tell future applicants to reaserch the school by going to the SDN threads and the school website and writing down what they like and don't like about each school. Then when the essays pop up it is easier to write the Why X COM part of the essay. Still until one lays eyes on the school and is able to ask objective questions about things the school offers the applicant really can't make a fully informed choice about the school.

^. That's what I was trying to say but said better.

When is the next major deadline for applicants accepted to make a decision?
