Nova Southeastern Univ (NSU-COM) Discussion Thread 2013 - 2014

I've been getting emails today from nova saying I have outstanding requirements ... But these letters were all dated a month ago. Weird. I know I got accepted but these emails are strange, especially the date it was issued

SoFlo stands for South Florida, however, it is also a band from Southwest Florida. And the HPSP scholarship can be inquired about through various military branches.
 
I had an interview back in early September and was placed on the wait list. I've heard it's a smart idea to email the school and let them know I still interested. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what I should say and who I should send the email to.

I sent a letter of interest, but before admissions made a decision. I talked about how my activities and qualities fit NSU-COM's mission statement. I talked about what my plans and goals were in medical school, and the fact that I want to live and practice in the Miami area. And the reasons why I want to attend NSU-COM. I also talked about my current activites. It was about a 1.5 page letter single spaces.

I would suggest you send in a letter by snail mail, and maybe overnight it..or fax it. A personal hard copy seems more sincere, especially if you personally signed it. That's what I did at least. I sent my letter to Linda Ferris, but Pamela Merriweather is also another person to send to. They're both awesome!

WOW! September and they are already setting up a wait list?! I was just finally complete in September and am still waiting for a single word from them since submitting the secondary. Anyone else in the same boat? Im getting a little worried... do they do silent rejections??

Their admissions office really messed up big time this cycle.
 
Has anyone who was accepted on 12/20 received an acceptance packet in the mail? I got the email and it said the letter was mailed out that day, but still nothing

Received my packet yesterday and live 20 minutes from campus. Acceptance email on 12/20. I also contacted the admissions counselor to verify my acceptance.

Called school to confirm acceptance. Got disconnected after 45 minutes of waiting. Lame. Haven't gotten a packet yet. Paid deposit, sent in forms.

two people interviewed me at the same time, the interview was laid back and very chill, conversation like speaking about yourself. i was complete nov. 14 and received a call on jan 3rd
 
I am freaking out a bit that they arent acknowledging the letter of intent and tech standards that i turned in and are due in a week.
 
sooo.... I just got an email saying that they sent me an interview invite and I did not respond within the given time frame and are pulling my application... I NEVER RECEIVED AN II EMAIL THOUGH ! 🙁 I am so rattled right now, I am waiting in queue on the phone to try and sort this out idk what to do 🙁

The same exact thing has just happened to me. I have been waiting fro this interview since August!!! I replied to the e-mail immediately but she didn't reply back. this is crazy!!!

Shoot! I am so sorry for you guys - that would be the worst. I am a little worried I am going to get an email like that or something soon too. I hope since its happened to multiple people they would be willing to compromise and help you out. Best of luck and keep us posted!

So I talked to them on the phone and they said that it has happened to a few people today already and they are looking into the issue, and they will call me with resolution next week some time. I definitely suggest giving them a call, it is a long wait-time but worth it obviously.

Thank you. It happened to me also with Touro-CA but they immediately recognize it was their mistake and they sent me another e-mail. I hope NoVA will do the same

That is unfortunate luck ! I had some issues with MSUCOM's waiting list a few times lol. I really hope Nova resolves this and we get an ii, my top choice by far. I love Ft Lauderdale.

The way the woman said it was that I did get an interview, but never got the email. So she said they will call next week to "reschedule and resolve the situation"

Call Pamela. They haven't acknowledged my intent letter but she said they have it. Although I did get an email that they acknowledged my tech standards letter

They probably won't ever tell you 'Hey, fyi we got your stuff' unless you specifically get in touch with them and ask.

I remember turning mine in and not hearing back from them. I only found out they received the forms when they called me in April or so to ask me for my final transcripts and I asked the person to check my file for the forms. Sometimes the admin is kind of a pain during the app cycle, but I swear it gets much better when you're actually a student!
 
Got my acceptance packet. So for Rolling Hills, why does Building C cost more than Building A?
And does any place have a full size bed? I get the feeling they are all twin size beds.

I mean, I'm an adult, so I expect to sleep like one...on a bed that's at least full size.
I have the right as an American to sleep diagonally, or to have room for a companion :grumpy:😉
Might have to look at off campus housing options.:arghh:
 
I dont want a twin xl either, and for 1300 a month it just seems like a waste compared to apartments

EXACT same thing happened to me! I called as well and emailed Linda Ferris. I've searched through my junk mail and trash like 5 times and I'm 100% sure I never got the email for an interview invite. Judging by this forum this has happened to others as well, so I'm hoping they still give us the ii.

For anyone wondering, I called today and was told they are hoping the white coat ceremony will be August 3rd, but they're not sure yet. If it's not August 3rd, it will be August 10th. They are also hoping for the first day of classes to be August 4th but will let everyone know once they've figured it out!

Does anyone know how we go about getting the on campus housing for rolling hills? When do we apply for it?

Same story here. Called them Friday, so hopefully we will all get good news soon.
 
Hey there, new to SDN. So I had a bit of a late secondary application submission (November) and have an interview with Nova scheduled in early February. I wanted to know how much I hurt myself by applying later on. Pretty decent stats. UF grad with overall GPA was 3.91 and 3.89 science. 31 MCAT (11 physical, 10 verbal, 10 biological).

Well you are doing better than some of us...Been waiting to hear back since September - no interview yet, but hoping for good news soon!

I am constantly checking my email now as well as my phone, hoping to hear something asap. Everyone who had this issue update the rest of us as soon as you hear anything 😀

LOL with your stats and if everything else is ok, you should be getting ii soon.
 
Does Nova accept application updates? If so, where can I send them? Should I send them an update or just wait till my interview?
 
Got an ii last week! Interview set for Feb 6th. Anyone else have it that day? For those of you who have already interviewed, please share any tips or most interesting questions asked. So excited about Nova! I hope they don't make us wait as long as some of you had to.

Also, there is such a thing as SoFlo, but its SoFla 😉
