go on webstar and see what they are asking for in terms of application requirements. if you see them asking for official transcripts, then that means you are accepted!!

I called her as well today and she said the same thing about the official transcript email, im a little worried about not receiving an email at this point. If you are wait listed, are you notified by a letter in the mail or email??
 
Does it seem like most people are getting accepted now? I know in the beginning of the season almost all were waitlisted, but now everyone is looking like they are getting accepted. I have an interview here Dec. 3, will I be able to sneak in the backdoor for this class?

Yup, think you're in prime interview area. NSU waitlisted a lot early on so I guess the best time to snag an acceptance will be interviewing around now. I interviewed late Sept so just barely made the cutoff.
 
I was interviewed October 24, still haven't heard anything yet? Has anyone heard anything yet? Its been 3 weeks now. I just saw someone already got accepted 11/7. I am a little worried.
 
Interviewed Oct 24th and received the "outstanding requirements" email two days ago. I was surprised today when I received an acceptance letter in the mail because I still haven't received an email from them. Looks like there is no definite MO for sending out acceptances.

I have the same story as athom1626: interviewed 10/24, no email, then an acceptance packet today. I'm 3.6/3.5/ 30.
 
I was complete 7/1 and didn't get an invite until September, do about 2 months for me, I would guess you should hear something soon

Yep. Everyone be grateful that you applied late(r) in the cycle! Procrastination pays off apparently at NSU :mooning:
 
Maybe this had nothing to do with timing and more to do with the fact that there was almost a 2 month gap between the first and second set of decisions? They had about 8 weeks worth of interviews, 2 on most weeks, and 25 candidates in each, coming out to roughly 300-400 interviewed. Therefore, more people were accepted, but the number is likely relatively the same. I hope you are happy where you end up, but the sarcastic and negative comments about 'thinking twice' or reconsidering Nova and the martyrdom displayed are ill received.
 
also got an ii a few days ago! complete 8/26. They only have a few dates available on the website though and i can't make any of them 🙁

That being said, I have to agree with Back5's comment. Proportionally speaking, more people were accepted from later interviews than those from the very early ones. Of the 23 people that interviewed on with me on 9/10, I kept in touch with at least 5. None of us was accepted. Most were above average applicants and have been accepted to several other schools by now. That leads us to think "what was the point of applying on Day 1?".

I interviewed 9/10 and was accepted 9/20...there are potentially people not on SDN who were accepted. I would still recommend applying early and interviewing early, if nothing else you (usually) hear back earlier to make some decisions.

Is Nova on a P/F system? How are classes graded? Does Nova give time off to study for Boards??

Nova is not on a P/F system. Grades are in percentages. For example, if your average is a 90% at the end of a course, then that is your grade: 90%. We are ranked.

I'm looking at my course schedule now and it looks like we are essentially done at the end of April. So, depending on when you take COMLEX Level 1 (and USMLE Step 1 if you chose to do so), you can have more than a month.

Do you feel stressed out because of this and do you see any sort of animosity? (Such as gunners giving false info etc) or do people usually help each other? Any chance of NSU going P/F?
 
So for everyone's that been accepted so far, are most people planning on attending Nova?? I know the deadline they gave me for sending a deposit was December 14th so it's decision time!

👍👍 I'm deciding between Nova and UNE but leaning heavily towards Nova. I'm still in shock that I'll be going to medical school next year. To everyone who hasn't heard back yet/is on an alternate list I hope you guys hear back soon and that it's positive news!!
 
Can I safely assume nobody from the 10.31 interview date has heard anything yet?

To be perfectly honest I'm not too stressed out about it at the moment. There's a method to preparing for class and preparing for boards simultaneously. Some people struggle to figure out their own method that works for them more so than others. The "gunners" don't give false info, they are just more likely to not share their material with the class. It is what it is. I haven't struggled because of it if that's what you're asking. Not one bit. You do you, don't worry about what other people are/aren't doing. There are people in my class that willingly share their material regularly, and it helps for the most part. Overall we help each other out. We have a study group on Facebook and this is how we communicate about course material, etc. I can honestly say I haven't witnessed or heard of any mischievous behavior that is purposefully done to sabotage others. Take that at face value- I don't have any more than my own sets of eyes and ears.

I don't have the slightest clue about chances of NSU-COM going to a P/F system. Sorry I don't have an answer for you.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to get at here, but I hope you're not suggesting that you deserve an acceptance because you interviewed early and/or have above average stats. Acceptances are not guaranteed- people will get waitlisted and rejected; that's just part of the application cycle. Maybe NSU did not see you as a good fit, maybe the applicant pool was too competitive, or maybe it was a combination of both. Regardless, don't take it personally, and please don't think that there isn't a point in applying early. Perhaps the most beneficial (and usually overlooked) piece of advice for applicants is to apply as early as possible. I can assure you that there IS a point in applying early (yes, even to NSU), and that a post-interview decision that was not an acceptance was a result of something else other than submitting/interviewing early. You should be happy that you have an acceptance and that you're going to be a doctor. Some people are still waiting for interviews...
 
And here I was thinking the "mooning" emoticon would have conveyed the fact that I was not serious. Guess I take my leave of SDN, or go back to anonymous browsing.

I wasn't bashing the school or its students. I have nothing but respect for Nova and its amazing student body. I apologize if I offended anyone in here, but I assure you that wasn't my intention. I'm grateful that I have been accepted to my top choice and it makes me only happier to see people getting accepted to their top choice as well.

I guess I'm a little frustrated for some of my friends who have interviewed back in late August/early September and are still awaiting to be pulled off the WL because NSU is their top choice. Other two were interviewed on 9/19 and were told that they were going to hear back sometime last week, at latest, and they are still hanging by a thread.

I hope that by the end of this cycle things get sorted out and people are content with their destinations. Again congratulations to everyone who was accepted (Darklabel comes to mind) and good luck to the rest.

I'm an M1 at NSU and I can honestly say that I have not seen or heard of any behavior that fits the "gunner" mentality. In fact, it's been quite the opposite. The entire class shares materials online, bounces questions back and forth on fb, and even posts reminders about due dates, documents needed for class, notes, mnemonics, etc. Stress will be there, like any other med school, but not because of classmates.

For those that applied early and we're not accepted or were wait-listed, I'm sorry about your situation and I know it must be very frustrating. However, as was mentioned before, NSU doesn't really owe anybody an II or acceptance. Ever. It's just the unfortunate truth. It may not be nice of them to say you'll hear from us by a specific date and not follow through on that, but the complaints that people have about not being accepted even though they applied early are really irrelevant. Yes, NSU did things different last year, and yes they are having some communication issues this year, but they don't owe anybody anything other than a review of your application and consideration for an II.
 
I think people look for patterns in schools' admissions processes from year to year, inherently setting themselves up for disappointments. These (perceived) patterns don't constitute a contract to prospective students 🙂 On top of that, we are not looking at the raw data of acceptances/rejections just by seeing people post here. I will admit that I fell in love with the school when I visited and felt that I aced the interview, so it was a huge letdown to be waitlisted. Two acceptances later, I want to make it clear to people who are still going through this that how you felt your interview went does not necessarily predict the result. At that (early) point in the process for many of us, it was quite disorienting. Many had interviews coming up, so it was hard to rework your strategy for interviews when you thought you had so many things going for you, but end up with a waitlist.

I ended up get into one of my original top 3 and another one that is now my top choice of the two. It helps to keep an open mind.

Accepted!! Interview 10/24!! No email or missig transcripts email but I got the acceptance packet in the mail!!!
