Happy Hump day. Great posts heyya, avenger and happy bird. I think the majority of people who have 0 or 1-2 interviews have been "extra" stressed since this year does not seem to be mirroring last years trend in heme onc. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with us submitting on July 15 rather than the first even though programs still were able to download on the 15th. I think this is only the third year of the July submission, I can only imagine that programs are still adjusting to orienting the new fellows and now receiving a bolus of 200-400 applications. While the logical part of me knows that happy bird and avenger are the exception and that people like them will likely have to cancel a lot of interviews and create a nice 2nd and 3rd wave of invitations, the irrational part of my brain thinks that I am screwed lol. Anyways, hopefully today brings more news. Good luck everyone!

Do most programs send rejections or can we assume silent rejections ?
Assume several silent rejections... as tacky as it sounds, a lot of programs have plenty of applicants to be concerned about apologetic messages. I'm not sure that getting a silent rejection is better than getting a generic: "thank you for your application, this year we had very competitive applications like yours..." at the end you're just not invited.

Just updating the list.

Waiting for interviews is like waiting for someone to deliver. Just give the pitocin already.

Mug up the "Rai classification" for the interview. the famous Kanti Rai works here!!! ;-)

rejection NSLIJ as well!

Quick question: Have people recieved any "generic" email from uni of Washington?

NSLIJ is a clinical program. No - you will likely not see Kanti Rai.

Credentials plese ?congrats !

den

I'm not sure what proper etiquette is but to echo another previous poster I think asking everyone who posts an interview for credentials is... inappropriate. I may be wrong but just my thoughts.

USC also this afternoon!

Nivi, how did you like NSLIJ? OOC, do fellows qualify for the housing and/or housing stipend? Seems super expensive to live near the hospital.

Are you talking about University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center ??
Generic email received saying "Thank you for your interest in our fellowship program. Your application has been received and will be reviewed by our committee. Our goal is to notify you no later than Monday, August 10 "

I think Monday is 11th. Kidding

Share your view on these two program
University of Florida, Gainsville,FL
and University of Rochester

What do you guys think of the program?

All I know is many in house candidates every year... Overall the program is strong. More focus on solid onc.

Solid program with a demographic outside of the other big names in NY. Also 2nd largest in NYC, so I'm sure support is good. Very exciting!
