Alright, it is that time of year again. Once schools begin the acceptances, so to come the rejections and, almost emotionally more taxing, the waiting game of the waitlist. Come here for comradery during the wait if you are on a waitlist, whether in general, for your top choice, what have you, and support others in the waiting as well. Insert Goro quote about patience being a virtue....

Edit: Coming off the waitlist? Congratulations! Come report your acceptance here!

Didn’t memelord make a waitlist thread?

I may be going crazy tho I can’t keep track of all these threads

@Sunbodi sorry, I beat you to it with this one:

@gyngyn @Matthew9Thirtyfive can we merge threads?

+2 Albany got me
Eh, is Albany's UC really a WL (I count it as one, but still lol) if they're continuously pulling people off for acceptances? Better than a stratified list that doesn't see any movement whatsoever until April.

Now that the MAR/NAR has been hidden for a cycle, was there any observable difference in WL behavior last cycle?

2 post-interview waitlists checking in

It looks like my app as a whole isn’t crossing the threshold to get an acceptance. The only part I can improve for the rest of the cycle is my interview performance. I’ve practiced with some M1 friends, but I might need to see some drastic improvement in order to get accepted this cycle. I’m waiting for decisions for two other schools I interviewed at. I also have what could be my last interview in a month at a private OOS school. However, this school accepts about 25% of OOS interviewees. I’ve read the long essential SDN interview guides.

Can anyone who’s been in my situation before offer some guidance? Should I consider paid consultant mock interviews (my undergrad’s career center doesn’t offer this for alumni)?

Do you have areas of your interview or specific questions/topics that you think you've struggled on? I've practiced and prepped like crazy, would be happy to offer more feedback if you want to PM me. FWIW, I did one paid consultant mock interview with medschoolcoach.com and I'm not sure it was worth it.

Did you ask the schools and they told you that your interview was the cause of your waitlist?

Thank you for offering to help out. I took notes about what I could work on after each interview, and I’ll PM you after I review those again.

No, one school said in the WL email that they do not offer feedback. I called the other school after being prompted by your comment and they also told me they do not offer feedback.

Oh, lame... you can definitely work on your interviewing, and I recommend that because it is one of the easiest things to improve right now, but just know that it could be another part of your App. One of the schools I was waitlisted at said my interview was great, but my GPA was low.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll keep that in mind. Sorry to hear about your WL. I hope everything works out for you in the end.

Yes --less visibility gave schools less confidence in their yields, which led to fewer As and more WLs. People waited all spring and summer for a burst of WL movement that never quite occurred, because the fewer As apparently led to fewer applicants holding fewer multiple As, which led to less opportunity for WL movement.

Bottom line -- fewer As caused yields to rise, resulting in less WL movement while relatively more people being WL as compared to prior cycles. It's a lot to go through, but, if you're interested, just look at the 2018-19 WL Support thread.

I'm in a pretty similar situation. Right now, I have five II, have attended three, and heard back from two which are both waitlists. I felt good about the two interviews that I got waitlisted from, and didn't feel so great about the third that I haven't hear back from (I hope that I'm just back and judging my performance and maybe I'll get in there haha). The waitlists hurt pretty badly, especially knowing the most likely won't hear from them until May at the earliest. I was really hoping for an early acceptance (I mean who isn't?) because I really don't want to have to think about reapplying.

Similar situation here. Fortunate to get one A but WL at interviews where I felt like I performed the best/favorite ones so far. Bit of a bummer bc it makes me 2nd doubt if maybe I’m doing something wrong

WL at in state school and pretty upset about it. I was waitlisted last year and got released a couple months after, so it's hard to stay optimistic. I had the chance to talk with them and they offered feedback, but I feel I addressed everything they brought up (main thing being applying earlier, and I interviewed the first day this cycle) and yet it seems to have changed nothing. I've had two other interviews and haven't heard anything yet so at least there's that, but I was hoping to stay where I've lived my whole life and all my family/friends are.
