There are only 6 schools, of which one is 100% french so it leaves you with 5 school to apply to. (assuming you don't speak french fluently)
Most Canadian go to residency in the States, I never heard of an American coming here so I guess it's not that easy..
Perio doesn't participate in the match here though, this is nice.

Canadian programs are generally harder to get into (so few spots, high GPA cut off) and more academically oriented than clinical. All programs in Canada have a mandatory masters component. If you can stay in the US and pay in state tuition vs. international Canadian tuition, no point to coming North unless you have a weird fetish for the Maple Leafs who can't win the cup 😉

Great explaination. I've heard they are very strict when it comes to a GPA and I know for a fact that the two residents admitted to Dalhousie a few years ago had extensive perio experience prior to being accepted so fresh graduates don't stand a chance. More of a Habs fan myself though

Yes, no one (or almost no one) in canada get into a specialty straight from dental school. Most residencies ask for a GPR or at least a year of PP.
I will apply to the US next year if i don’t get in this year but i would rather stay home hence why my weird « canadian programs only » choice 🙂

I'll be trying my luck as well. Good luck everyone.

Hello all!
I'm applying this cycle and this is my preliminary list. If anyone knows anything good or bad about any of them, I'd appreciate help narrowing it down! Bonus points if you're a current resident and don't mind me picking your brain. I'm looking for a good balance of clinical to didactics and hopefully a city that's family friendly.

Are all excellent programs as well I heard. A lot of those schools you selected are very expensive. I have not made up my mind but initially those 6 are on top of my list

Thanks for the info! I know some on my list have tuition, but for a good program I think its worth it. BTW, Harvard is about $65k/yr, UCSF is about $50k/yr if you're out of state and NYU is about $35k/yr. I think it's more common to have to pay something, rather than go for free/get a stipend.

Best of luck friend!

Same to u. Hope everyone here matches.

Did anyone hear about a virtual tour from NYU and did anyone get the chance to attend it?

Anyone familiar about the program at Tennessee? There are only PGY-1 and 2 listed on their website under current residents. Is this a relatively new program?

Does anyone know anything about interviews? Will they be online?

Anyone have any details about what happened to mayos program? Just got an email from pass that my application wouldn’t be sent to them due to the program closing

Same here. I will call them on Monday. My guess is they will not be part of PASS. But who knows?

Does anyone know if there are any current unfilled residency programs for 2020 post match?

Mayo Clinic closed their program

Wonder what happened 🙁, their perio and prostho program seem like a good environment

Is there any advantage in submitting an early application (like in endo?) or are interviews generally only held after the program deadlines?

Definitely submit early, some schools have rolling interviews and will invite you well before the deadline

thinking far ahead. You listed
UCSF
UCLA
NYU
HARVARD
ROCHESTER

If you were listing colleges, that would be a pretty wide list. Same law. Harvard and NYU way up there in law ratings.Rochester not even a law school. U can look at various lists and know Who's turning down Harvard law for Pace? So how can u orda these 5?

Some old threads I saw July invites

I submitted today. Good luck everyone.

my #1 program postponed its application deadline from june 1st to september 1st.. wow, that's annoying, there will be so many extra applications.

I didn't notice any application deadlines for June 1st.

Maybe it's to early to ask but have anyone received any interview invites yet (especially for the one that not participate in Match)?

Hi guys,
I'm considering applying to Nova. I really don't know anything about the program (its strength, etc.). Any inputs are greatly appreciated.

hi all, can you advise me nice pros programs which also give us good/decent experience in implant surgeries and implant restorations?

Nova is really great clinically because you each have your own bay so you can do surgery whenever you want. But its an old building, not a ton of sedation, and lit review is intense but good.

Hi aporzio.me
Thanks for the info. How do you know about the Nova program?
I wonder if programs would not go heavy on applicants who are not familiar with their programs since most would not have the opportunity to intern/extern because of Covid situation?

A classmate of mine just graduated from Nova. I'm not sure about interning/externing.
