Can anyone share insight they might have on non-match programs and how they operate? For example, after the interview, do they offer positions right away or do they offer around match time?

I have a friend who interviewed at a non-match on a Thursday and the next Monday they offered her a spot.

Has it happened to anyone where you sent supplemental application or GRE scores back in June and July and the programs message you a day before the deadline that your packet is incomplete?
Happened to two programs.

This very thing happened to me with Iowa 🙃. I submitted all of my information back in June and for whatever reason they didn’t have my GRE scores.. I got an email the day before applications were due in August that my application was incomplete.

Regarding interview invitations, do schools send out an initial batch and then more later? Or is it just one batch of interview invitations that gets sent out?

Has anyone heard any responses from Oklahoma? or when their interview dates are?

Normally one batch. There are schools like Nova, BU and Tufts that do several rounds though. As the cycle goes on people will drop interviews due to conflicts and a few more invites will go out. I had one invite last year two weeks after it was posted here.

If anybody is interviewing at Tennessee on 10/10 and willing to swap to 10/13 please send me a message! Thanks!

I’m applying for the third time this cycle. Last two cycles had one interview each. This time I applied to more schools but haven’t gotten a single interview so far. Think it’s time to focus on being a GP 🤣. I even work at an ortho office part time. I’m done after this cycle.

Did you apply to the same schools you interviewed at in previous cycles ?

As someone who is also applying as a general dentist who has been working for the past five years, I’d love any guidance on how to make my application stand out.
I graduated with honors and don’t have any research.

I’ve gone to dental school twice. Once overseas where I was top of my class and then I repeated dental school in the US. I do not have any research on my resume. I have shadowed many orthodontic practices and worked as an ortho assistant in the past.

I would be grateful for any feedback.

I've been told that research is important, especially for 3-year programs. They'd want to see some indication of that. Either through a master's program, published papers, or research involvement. How to do that (and whether it's worth it or not), being a GP, I'm not sure. But that's what I've been told.

You will get it by God grace . You are very persistent and that is amazing

Hi everyone,

I’m curious to know from your experiences—has anyone here gotten into an Orthodontic Residency without having prior U.S. credentials? Specifically, I wanted to ask if there are applicants who applied internationally, with little or no prior U.S. experience, and were still able to get in.

For context, I have a few hours of shadowing and have completed two externship programs in the U.S., but I’m wondering how crucial extensive U.S. exposure really is for acceptance. Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences on this.

Thanks in advance, and best wishes to everyone preparing for interviews and the match!

has anyone matched with only one interview lol

I applied in 2022 and did not get a single interview. Now I’m finishing advance standing and getting a DDs and still have not gotten any invites. I wonder what they want from us 🙁

approximately how many students are interviewed at each school? 30-50? Or more

I think it depends on the program but for a program spot of 4-5, I'm estimating about 50 candidates. But I could be wrong. I also heard the school usually holds 1 spot for the person who attended their dental school. Like for example, if you graduated from Oregon dental school, you might have more chance matching with Oregon orthodontic residency.
