Welp its official the "Accepted" Mentality has kicked in

Just bought a 43" TV along with PS4 and several shoot em up games

Gonna be a great summer 😎
I'm guessing Battlefield 1? or Overwatch?

Horizon Zero Dawn is great! I've only played 8 hrs so far but I love it.

Guys, the current SDN med students are going to hate this class XD

I can tell. They already don't know what to do with us. Might have to get our own playground there because I don't think any of their "bullying" or hazing is going to work on this class. Not there for any of it. If they didn't want us to get into med school, they should take it up with the schools/adcoms/aamc/lcme

Hey guys got a gamer related question. So I finally played online for the first time in a while and I realize a part of my house is a big WIFI dead zone. Its too far (~20Ft) from the router so I can't connect directly to console.

Any suggestions to reduce dat lag for a new gamer.

Right now all I got is COD and rainbow 6. PM me if you wanna link up but I'm down to ply Amy strategy games

Get Overwatch! Me and my friends play that in the evenings. Its such a good teambased shooter

Get a long ethernet cable? is that feasible?

Or move your router closer to the ps4?

Get a powerline adapter. Easy setup and you can connect the Ethernet cable into the adapter.

I have the one above and it completely eliminated lag on Rocket League (and every other game) for me. I'd already tried wifi extenders / boosters and such prior, which didn't work (for obvious reasons).

Thanks for the suggestion!! I just bought that this morning because I was so fed up haha. I've noticed its upped my speed a huge amount 30/10. I'm trying to figure out the right way to connect the ethernet because the power line sweet spot isn't perfect to the living room. I lose good connectivity between router when I get it close enough for ether net cable.

Hmm.... that's odd. I'm a little confused though. So it's two pieces. You've got one connected directly to the router correct? Then the other wherever your system is. I guess I'm not understanding how you'd need to find a sweet spot.

And yes, @Astra118 that was the case when I bought it too. But I wanted it immediately and just ran to the store. I couldn't remember the model so it was easy to find where I bought it.

Welp I feel ripped off. I ran to walmart and bought one for $80.

I might be reading too far into the owners manual on the thing. I thought you wanted the power line to be at a halfway point between your router and console. I figured you wanted a consistent path for the power line to console but i'm reading on it and apparently it utilizes the circuit in your house to distribute wifi so distance from router to power line shouldn't matter much i guess.

I'm still tinkering with it and looking at connection speed on the console to find the best solution.

Check out the return policy. If they allow returns on opened items, I would order it off of Amazon and when it arrives, return the one from walmart.

My internet actually sucks pretty bad haha. Should I get one of these? It takes me like 40 minutes to watch a 30 minute show on Netflix because it buffers so long 🙁

Yeah because I am extremely far from the router at my house.

You're fine return wise, it's Walmart... you could probably write the name of the product on a brick and almost get away with it.

Do it. It saved my life lol. Unless your connection speed is actually not great, then it won't do much.

I'll try it out!
Its really worth it. Unless like @SydSing mentioned you have a bad connection to begin with but this thing is legit for wifi dead zones.

Just completed comparison
Without power line my download/upload was 5MBPS/380kBPS
With power line and no ether net 28MBPS/5MPBS

I noticed an inconsistent bandwidth fluctuating ~5MBPS. The power line is designating that there is an inconsistent sync with console. So i'm buying an ethernet cable right now to clean that up.

Best solution is always an ethernet connection. Buy a 100ft cable (or longer if you need) and run that stuff underneath the edge of the floor or buy come cheap clips from Lowe's or HD or something to pin it to the wall.

Hii this is a very random switch to the conversation... but has anyone "played" acceptances against one another to try and drive down tuition at one school? Like say- "I really love your school but I have alternative offers that are less expensive, can't go unless I get more aid"... I've heard rumors about doing it, but it seems kind of awkward to do lol so I don't want to try unless it's a common practice!

I think a page or two back this was discussed. And earlier in the thread as well. You can search here, as well as pre-allo in general.

I did this - they emailed me back basically saying "Thanks for letting us know. We will be releasing aid packages on MM/DD and we wish you the best of luck." I will update this forum close to that date to let everyone know if I was successful.
