**Official Class of 2021 Thread** !

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I had planned out everything for my move at the end of June. And then they call me off a waitlist yesterday. Now the scramble to figure all this new nonsense out.
I am appreciative surely, but this process always keeps me on my damn toes.
congrats on the second option! so you're considering Gtown??

I'm currently looking for housing and trying to get classified as "in-state" at the school I'll be attending. A 50% reduction in tuition would sure make paying a bit more on housing hurt less.

Thanks! It really caught me from left field.
I'm thinking it's pretty much decided for Gtown. My other offer is from ETSU, and there's just so much more at Gtown. But man, so much to figure out logistics-wise.

And rent. Holy ****
yah shiz will be expensive, but worth it since you'll def have more opportunities at GT!

I am currently missing my rent in Georgetown. Trust me it gets worse! Some of the ads I'm seeing here in SF is atrocious!

If you want to walk/bike to school I'm sure you know burleith, foxhall, west etc. But also look at the GU shuttle line might make living north (closer to cathedral), Rosslyn, and DuPont no biggie. And if you want to commute for cheaper rent, Silver Spring, Arlington, Adams Morgan/Columbia Heights are all great options.

Currently looking for apartments and the rent is terrifying! I'm checking out 2 or 3 apartments this weekend right by the Parnassus campus, amazing locations but double the rent I'm paying right now!

I guess you were right, your avatar will always be stressed.

Yea I can't even imagine rent in SF, us ATLiens are spoiled by the cheap rent, but we pay for it every year when a highway collapses #RIP I-85 or it snows.

Lol I remember house hunting and comparing ATL and Texas to the DMV, absolute insanity. Mansion vs 2bd rambler

what should i do about a school i'm waitlisted at?? it would be a dream come true but i feel like i need to get a move on and sign a lease for the school i am going to as of now (which I am incredibly excited about as well but would prefer the WL school...)

Depends on the schools, I think. Does the one you are WL'd at have a lot of movement for people in your situation (IS/OOS)? Maybe browse old threads and see when WL movement happens and then set yourself a deadline when, if you havent been accepted, you'll sign a lease for the other one.

Maybe a dumb question, but once I sign is there any way out or should I give up WL hope?

You mean once you sign the lease? You should ask the renter what the terms are for breaking a lease if you want to hang on to that WL until the very last moment. Usually if you want to break your lease, you'll have to pay a certain amount of money and/or find someone else to take your apartment. Personally, I would just set a specific date when I would withdraw from the WL and then find an apartment from that point on.

ack! this situation sounds so stressful and would have me looking like @wanderingorion everyday!

I'd hold on. I was ready to go until this week. Just wait until the end of May. I think that's when most of the WL traffic has passed.

"The forums will be down for maintenance on May 3, 2017 starting at 9 PM Pacific." ...just got this alert. uh oh, that's in 5 minutos peepz. Time to continue watching 13 reasons why.

It's amazing what you can earn when you're tutoring a third grader with a mom who wants her child to be valedictorian. In elementary school.

(Hint, a boatload)
Seriously. I just read more on her website and apparently she tutors four year olds for pre-k entrance exams. Why does that even exist?!

So that they can go to best montessori and then to the best HS, attend best undergrad and then BMS (best medical school) to complete awesome residency training for excellent fellowship so that they can die just like the rest of humans eventually do but with a smug look on their face.

joining this thread today after being accepted to med school this week. I've been trying to get into med school for three years now and I started to think that it would never happen. I keep rereading the acceptance email and making sure the deposit's been sent because I'm still paranoid this is still a joke. Sorry for sounding so lame, but I really can't believe it. We're going to be doctors guys!
And for everyone else still waiting, don't ever give up. Good luck!
K cheesy lame-ness over. Going to be drinking margs from now til August :soexcited:

Joining this thread I guess. I had forgotten about this account b/c my applications were going pretty badly and I needed to regroup. But apparently that won't be necessary, because the one school that I hadn't heard a definitive 'no' from accepted me this week. It came as quite a shock, personally. Don't really know what to say. Congrats to all y'all who have known for longer! XD

Hmm... okay. I don't consider myself all that funny. But I did work in a clinical lab running tests for the local hospital, and thus got to see all the technical difficulties they have behind-the-scenes. Coworkers liked to share this one quite a lot:
