Finally decided where I’m going. Finally feel the big relief.
Excited to finally be committed to a school! I was holding out for a waitlist, was accepted off that waitlist, but ultimately decided against it. Feels so good for the uncertainty to be over.
Yeah not gonna lie, selecting the CTE for my school was exciting.

Same as all of you, I'm relieved to be committed to a school! It almost didn't feel real until I had checked off that CTE box. Now, I'm anxiously awaiting more information from my school to get settled on housing, moving date, orientation, etc. It's exciting to think in a few short months I'll be where I've worked so hard to be!

Random question but do you guys think I should go for a laptop + iPad combo, or should I just get a Surface Pro? What are you guys doing as far as using a computer/laptop?

I want a surface pro and a cheaper laptop, but I can’t afford the surface right now. I will probably get a cheaper laptop and use my iPad while I save for a surface pro.

My school issues us laptops, and I already have an iPad Pro that I love and will continue to use unless it just becomes cumbersome to juggle multiple devices.

My laptop is still running smoothly, so I'm trying to take care of it so it can last another 4 years. I've been debating if I want to buy an iPad, but my school mentioned something about issuing an university-owned iPad to use for exams and the curriculum so I might wait to see what I'm able to do with the school iPad before deciding.

Grats on finalizing everything, you guys!

I'm still waiting on one WL decision to come through. Seems like the cycle is a bit delayed this year as far as WL movement but that may just be for this particular school. Overall, I'm super happy with the cycle and grateful for the acceptance that I do have.

@Lucca, you're right, the gut feeling was a big thing for me as well. I didn't really have a #2 school but I was blown away by some places and left others knowing it probably wasn't the right environment for me. It's amazing how much you can pick up on.

I am seriously considering a surface device, mainly because I'd really like to hand-write my notes for digital storage and I've never been an Apple fan. Right now I'm debating investing in the Surface Book 2--however, I'm usually pretty cheap and have never spent that kind of money on tech before. I have a $400 HP laptop that's about 3 years old, and it's still working fine, so I'm finding it hard to justify buying a new computer.

If you already have a decent laptop, and you are comfortable with/prefer Apple products, maybe go with the iPad option. If you would be purchasing a new laptop and a new iPad, it might make more sense to just invest in a device that can take over the tasks of both. On the other hand, it could be smart to have one device for portable use (preferably the cheaper one) and another device you use mostly at home (preferably the more expensive one). Ultimately though, I think either option would work. Maybe you could also look up some reviews/comparisons of note-taking on the iPad and Surface and go from there.

Yeah, I might get a $400 laptop and then an iPad pro instead of a surface. Would still be cheaper.

Officially CTE on the one acceptance I received!! Extremely grateful, and this cycle was sincerely a humbling experience. I am sending off my SO to the Airforce next week. Feeling both excited and anxious about our different paths. 🙂 and ;(

Well my wife will tell you being a military spouse is hard but it isn't going to war hard. Good luck to both of you. You’re going to need to be there for each other!

This question occurred to me as I was doing some Spring tidying around the house. What are all of you doing with the branded 'swag' you received from schools you decided not to attend? I have totes, drawstring bags, pens, even a water bottle and a mini padfolio.

So, are you keeping, re-gifting, trashing?

We might both have gotten the same mini padfolio (is the water bottle from the same place?) haha. I gave some of the the stuff to my siblings and left some in the donation boxes we had around our campus for recycling.

Kept the pens, trashed/recycled the rest.

The water bottle and padfolio were actually from two different schools! I'm thinking about keeping the bottle and just buying a koozie or something lol. Keeping the pens too.

As for everything else, I'll probably recycle as well.

Donating all of it and throwing away stickers and stuff like that - even though some of it is nice socks, hats, drawstring bags, blankets etc (some from a school I went to 2nd look at but won't attend ).

I have way more water bottles than I can count, but I am keeping them lol. A few of them are vacuum insulated, and I lose bottles pretty quickly. Also got 2 notebooks and a bunch of pens.

Currently doing some pre-matriculation shopping.
Super random question and not sure if it was previously discussed (sorry in advance).

Thoughts on iPad Pro 11" vs iPad Air? Leaning towards the Pro due to having the second generation pencil and a better keyboard.

I like the pro personally. I’m going to get one as soon as the officer pay starts.

I bought a pro, and happy with it.

I start orientation Monday 😳

I'm on my way to the airport right now to move to a new state for med school and it still doesn't feel real!
That feeling continues, at least for a week. We moved last weekend, and it still hasn’t set in that we really moved 1,000 miles and 6 states away from where I was born and raised. Orientation starts in 18 days.

I’m sure the reality will all come crashing down on me during the first week of lecture. 😵

Moved to Arizona from NYC a week ago, and it just feels so surreal. Orientation is in a little over a week. I’m excited about this new chapter in my life.

What are people doing/did in the last month before school starts? I'm so anxious/excited. I'm a non-trad and left work at end of May. Having the first real vacation of my life since high school (though there's family chores) and don't know how to spend more time.

Besides necessary moving/family obligations daily, I’ve taken the kids to the apartment pool every day, we’ve been hiking, and yesterday I took them ice skating.

For the next 2 1/2 weeks until orientation I hope to:
1. Completely unpack
2. Change over vehicle registration and drivers licenses
3. Get the kids’ school paperwork settled
4. Lay by the pool every day and read books.

We are going to take the kids to the pool as much as possible. We are moving at the end of the month, so there is stuff to do for that. Mostly we are just going to try to enjoy the time.

Sounds fulfilling!

For me familial chores/etc has mostly means tending to chores since I've been spending time with my parents the last 6 weeks. but I'm going back to my studio and my city soon and even though I'm planning on enjoying some summer hangouts with friends, instead of relaxing my brain keeps on getting anxious...med school scaries indeed

Will be moving at the end of july so have some packing to do - but it's within the same city so nothing too intensive.

I start next week. Of course, when I interviewed, my school didn't start until August but after I was accepted they changed it, lol.

A friend of mine got accepted to a school and decided to matriculated. During orientation, they told them that they changed the attendance policy to mandatory attendance to all lectures.

Now that is a bait and switch I would absolutely support.

On a side note...who else is low key nervous for the start of med school? Feels like it's coming up too fast like a train
I heard there was a school last year that matriculated an entire class and then went entirely tuition free overnight. I forget what it was called. SUNY or something?

I'm high key super excited. I've been waiting for this for like 15 years.

I've been distracted with trying to finish up my projects at work, but the moment I have even a bit of time to think about it, I feel some low-key nerves and lots of excitement. Though pretty sure I'm still half in denial, so all the emotions will prob flood in during orientation week, haha.

Me! Already getting high-key nervous. But, also really excited to hit the books and be a student full-time again
