**Official PASS 2024 Endodontic Residency Interviews/Information

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone gotten confirmation of a complete application from UNC, Temple, or Pitt?

Of all those that have gotten interviews: are you a member of the AAE?

I'm a member. I don't know how much weight that holds though.

anyone who got an interview a new grad or still in dental school? what is your gpa and adat?

I'm a member. I don't know how much weight that holds though.
I was asked at each of my 4 interviews whether I attended the AAE and what I learnt / liked the most at the conference. If you didn't attend or aren't a member, I wouldn't stress over it too much cos a lot of candidates that make it to programs have never been members or attended the AAE before.

Did anyone upload both dental school and undergrad official transcripts to PASS? I found out today whichever was processed/uploaded later replaces the previous one. So it looks like the programs had access to just one of my transcripts, and they don't even know which one. I'm so frustrated 😶
what do you mean? If they’re official transcripts then the schools have sent it directly over to PASS. Have schools marked your applications as complete ?

If I'm not mistaken, you received an interview based on this thread which likely means everything was uploaded as needed. Perhaps I'm wrong to assume that, but I hope everything was received that the programs needed.

If you got interview to San Antonio, what are your stats?
600+ adat, p/np grades, gpr, tons of extracurricular stuff(lots of teaching activities) in dental school. Did no research in dental school but got a publication in a prestigious scientific journal before starting dental school

Hoping to hear of some more interviews before the week is finished. Good luck everyone!

I graduated with a 3.7, a publication top 26% of my class, doing a GPR this year and have a ton of extracurriculars....havent gotten 1 interview... Idk what more I could have done

Keep applying, every year until you get it and expand your application pooI. I should have done that. My stats are listed above in thread. Only difference is I’m 20 yrs private practice; I must have waited too long; but, family hits and things get complicated at that point with a practice to run and family to support. My advice, start applying Early and Keep applying. Until then, take endo CE, impaction and implant, along with IV, if your GPR does not cover these. It will broaden your scope and keep you thriving until you get in. Best of luck buddy.

You might benefit from a few years of practice experience then. I had worse stats than you but 5 years of GP experience and I got quite a few more invites than I thought I would. Only one of my co-residents came straight from GPR, and she was top 10% of her class, and it is her alma mater (aka she knew the endo PD personally). The others are 2 years out, 5 years out (me), and 7 years out.

Those are definitely competitive stats. Unfortunately, unlike dental school, good stats do not guarantee anything. My class had those stats but also a combined 15 years experience and other unique qualities that made them super impressive. So on paper you are probably checking a lot of boxes. Some programs are going to really want more experience than just a GPR, some probably won’t care. It’s still fairly early on. You could easily still get more interviews. Just know you have the grades to always be competitive when you apply. Building experience is the easy part.

Woot woot, got an interview today!
Does anyone know usually how many applicants there are per spot?
I heard usually 1:4 once you have an interview.

Which school did you get an interview?

Hi docs, can you please share your profile who got invites …. It’s devastating as days goes on without a single invite ….Highly Appreciate your time and response . Thank you

If offered a spot at a program but you have another interview two days later, is it reasonable to ask for 48 hours?

Hey,

I am 1 year out of school, 3.5 GPA, ton of research (5 publications in dental school), lots of volunteering (I volunteer almost every Friday at our community health clinic and really only do endo there), and also work per diem at different Forts doing SRPs. I really didn't think I was going to get any interviews but I believe I did because my application is different (I've gotten 2 so far). I am not top of my class but I have a lot of research and have been working my butt off since dental school trying to get better at everything I do - and it shows on my app. I also attended an endo CE course, a lot of endo CE on AAE, and went to the AAE conference. So don't get down on yourself, just try to find ways to get your application to stand out from others IF you don't get interviews this year. There are still lots of schools to go and a lot of people are going to start turning down interviews once they start excepting positions! So don't lose hope yet!

Most directors will give people 24 hours to think it over. I know some people that got to interview for another week and were able to attend much cheaper programs. You can ask politely but be humble about it. Wouldn’t you be offended if you told someone you really wanted to be with them and they responded with wanting to date someone else in a few days and get back to you?

Keep in mind your odds of getting into the first program were low, your odds of getting into a 2nd program are still low. I know some people with lots of interviews and only one acceptance, and some with one interview one acceptance, but very few with multiple acceptances.

Interviewing elsewhere without telling your new program director can also get you in trouble theoretically. It’s a very small field.

Problem is that next interview may take several days to offer you a spot. IMO it’s best to just take the first offer you get. If you put the work and effort into the program you’ll come out very skilled and ready to practice. Some programs will prepare you for board certification better than others though. Which doesn’t matter except for personal goals. But I do understand you have to consider family and tuition as well. It’s a tough situation. Again, it’s just easier to accept the first offer and be done with it. You are set with your dream career. And your family will be too.

I know of many people who "risked it", didnt take their first acceptance as they had interviews coming up from better/cheaper/closer programs, and they got into their top choice. Sometimes it could work out for the better especially if your app is solid
