*****Official PASS 2026 Endodontic Residency Interviews/Information***

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
5 years out and second time applying this year! fingers crossed. Anyone hear anything this week? was really hoping to hear something this week.

Sent from my SM-S906U using SDN Forums mobile app

Did you learn anything major about applying from this year compared to last year?

Besides the posted interviews, I haven’t heard anything. I wonder if Einstein sent out interviews because their interview is in June. Most programs send out by last week of June, so I’m sure we’ll see the big wave these upcoming 2 weeks.

Wow lots of people here with a good amount of private practice experience. I’ve done an AEGD and been practicing for a year. First time applying to endo. Knew it was for me when I got to experience some complex cases during my AEGD.

San Antonio sent another round of interview invites on 6/11. I believe they are finished because the deadline to reply was 6/11!

Has anyone heard if the nyu langone or Oregon OHSU are good programs clinical experience wise?
There are very few programs that are in the realm of "not good". If they provided inadequate training, CODA would delist them. Of course each program has it's own strengths and weaknesses. You just have to make sure those align with what you're looking for.
These are good programs.

Gotta appreciate the courtesy of a rejection letter. It’s the little things!
I know it’s still early in the cycle but man has my confidence been shaken! It’s my first cycle and I applied quite broadly thinking I’d probably land somewhere. Now I’m already contemplating what another cycle would look like…

I felt the same way last year, trust me. But you’ve got to remember. it’s not you. The whole thing is trash. Hang in there.

I feel the same exact way. I have been practicing general dentistry for 5 years. Applied very broadly and so far nothing. Thinking about what to do for next years application.

How many schools did you apply?

It’s a humbling process. I had the same thought process as you and was like wtf. Was accepted on my 3rd cycle. 😐. It is early though and you just never know. Everyone is so qualified I don’t know how these directors can even narrow anything down. Throw a dart on the board

Not much different than last time I applied. I actually applied 3 years ago and again this year. No interviews last time and so far still nothing. Very demoralizing but its all good. Lets be hopeful. This week's done, but on to the next!

Agree on being hopeful! Yes, this process is very hit or miss. No one quite knows the algorithm unless you’re in the minds of admissions. Again, there’s still the 80% of programs whom haven’t sent invites, yet.

At least we know there is nothing more we need to do now except to carry on with life as normal.

Just to give everyone a little bit of hope, I was invited a week before each of my interviews last cycle, even the program where I ended up getting in. Each of these programs had already sent out their first invitation weeks prior. The board was updated here on the forum so I counted myself out for these programs. I don't know if I was maybe an alternate and someone cancelled their interview and it gave me the opportunity or what actually happened. As many have said, there is still a lot of time left in the cycle and just because a program has sent out invitations, it doesn't mean you are out of the game. There is still a chance!

Looking through last year's thread, who is "conebeam guy?"

Question, when sending transcripts from dental school and undergrad is it best to send them directly from a place like "parchment" to PASS or order them to your home and then send them yourself. What is the turn around time of these companies and how early before the application opens can you send them? Do you have to wait till the app opens to send them?

Just send it thru parchment. Its faster and usually will get delivered within 48 hours

Before the application window I sent transcripts to myself, opened them, and scanned them into my computer as “unofficial”. I send official ones through parchment service, it’s a lot faster.

Thank you for your responses!

If anyone has applied to Columbia how strict are they about actually getting letters of recommendation from previous faculty members? It says their requirements are 1 deans letter and 3 faculty members instead of just letters from endodontics and other professional colleagues.

If faculty letters are required that's a no go for me! I only have 1 for sure, its been four years!

Are there any schools that are not on PASS?

Reach out to your school’s endo dept. They usually help in these cases especially if you have had a semi good relationship with them.

Also Columbia is generally strict about their requirements. Feel free to email the admissions office and ask, but have this in the back of your mind

When I applied I asked programs about this. I was 5 years out. I would get the deans letter and the other best letters you can. And then submit the app and call each program who has the “Columbia requirement” that you didn’t meet and just state your case. Every program I called that I can remember was pretty clear that they didn’t need faculty letters since I had been out for so long. They wouldn’t reflect who I was as a candidate.

Tell me about your self?
Why endo - especially those still in dental school? Hard to know you want to do something after 5-10 cases... just my 0.02
What are your strengths/weaknesses?
Why XXX program?
How many programs did you apply too? Reapplicant? (don't think it is their business but I was asked that)
If you don't get in this year what will you do?
Was military so some questions were about my time in the service.
What makes you think you will make a good resident?
How local anesthesia works? (dick question I know lol)
Ethical scenarios and how you would handle them.... dental assistant placing dental dam and is on wrong tooth with tx rendered, perforations, file fx and how to handle them, ****e dental work from GP and how to not throw them under the bus
Where do you see yourself in X years?

Mostly questions to determine your ethics and overall character.

Just some I could think of that I have asked and or had given to me.

Edit: I might add that if you less than less-than-stellar grades to talk about that.

Do they send emails after hours??

Does anyone know if St Louis or Oregon sends another round of interviews

My best guess is that most programs will send out one round of invites but when people cancel they will call additional people to fill in those spots.
