For the secondary question is it one page per question or is it one page total with the answers to all three questions?

It's one page total with the answers to all three questions. I went over 1 page with font 12 times news roman, so I fixed it to 11. I hope it's okie. Has anyone ever done that?

I'm changing mine to font 9 to fit it. I almost always write everything in font 10 so I would doubt they would care if you went to 11. Plus, I did not see anything about font size. I'm definitely not an official source, though, so if you are worried about this call the school before submitting.

What did everyone put for the "government id" section? I'm not sure what they are asking for.
 
anyone having problems with the 2ndary application and the drop-down menu in the Activity section? my drop down shows no options to pick and it is a required field. anyone?

I just called them and the activities section is a mistake and they are trying to take it off. When you mentioned it I realized that when I filled it out last week I never had an "activities section" and I freaked out and though I missed a section.

So, it is really irrelevant and they are trying to take it off. Debbie told me they were just trying to use it as a sort of survey? So don't stress 🙂

so, you were able to submit your 2ndary w/o filling out the activities section? or, it wasn't a part of your 2ndary? thanks for the reply btw.

You're welcome🙂 It was not part of my secondary, so I freaked out when I saw you talking about and went and looked at the secondary again and saw it, but I was able to select something from the drop down menu. So, I called and she said they had put it up earlier today, but it was not working right so they were taking it off ASAP.
 
Hi guys, I just got my score back and hated it. I didn't improve on VR. I thought I did much better on VR but i guess not. Do you think I have a chance at PNWU?

Shadowed DO and MD
Been in US for 9 years (English as second language).
Medical interpreter right now.
Acknowledged on 1 published article.


Please, any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

It seems that some people have already received secondaries from pnwu, because there is some discussion about it.

when did you receive your secondary and when did you send your primaries? PNWU is either my first or second pick school, and I haven't received a secondary yet. ahhh

I had my primary complete in mid june, and got an email saying the secondary would be available in a few days early last week. I got the secondary last week Thursday.
 
i think you have a shot, especially since you live in the area. you have a unique backstory and decent ec's. your mcat isnt setting any new records, but hopefully it would be enough to interview you. fwiw, if i werent a lowly applicant and was on an adcom, i would want to see what you were about in an interview.

The "medical interpreter" part of your app is really impressive. If you interview well I think that you have a shot. I would apply broadly though just in case.
 
guys, thank you so much for the encouragements. I deeply appreciate them. I will definitely finish my secondaries as soon as I can and keep my hopes up by telling myself that it only takes 1 acceptance to make my dreams come true. will keep you updated!

Paid on Tuesday morning and sent application and letters on Sunday afternoon. Still nothing that states I am complete and the charge has not shown on my credit card. Anyone been charged the fee yet?
 
I was charged 2 days after I called and gave them my credit card # but they haven't sent me any email saying that I'm complete. Has anyone been invited for an interview yet?
 
i just got an email for an interview invite. the person who sets up interviews was currently out of office, so i will be calling in an hour to set that up. for those interested my primary was released the last week of june. and i submitted my secondary and fee this week along with letters and all that good stuff. good luck all, will let you know what i find out when i am able to get a hold of them.

Does anyone know what the cut-off scores (gpa & mcat) are?
 
I just got an email saying they got my supplemental application n ask if I got an userID and pw for checking my status. Do you guys have that? 'cause I haven't received it. Also, Once my application is complete, it will be reviewed by the Admission Committee in approximately two to three weeks. does it take that long? hmmm.....

and interview invites are through email, not phone calls?😕

It depends. Sometimes you can get Federal loans...sometimes you can't. It has to do with whether the medical school is affiliated with a larger campus I think.

I got the same thing, not sure what the user id and password thing are but hopefully we will get another email explaining?

yeah, wierd. I got the same e-mail. I am sure that PNWU will soon send an invite.
 
I called last Thursday to check on my status having just sent in the secondary. They told me my file was complete and this upcoming week they would make a decision for an interview.

may I ask What's ur stats? n they called u?

I was complete on the 18th, and my status says "committee/ 9-21-09". My stats is not that good, but I'm still keeping my hopes up.

I was actually complete 9/17 according to their website.

3.5 GPA (science/non)
29 MCAT

Good luck to you. This process is certainly a crapshoot.
 
I toured a few weeks back (the day they sent out secondaries) the woman from the admissions office said that they had faculty and rooms scheduled for later October.

That school is my #1 choice. If you are from the northwest, they try to have you do your rotations near where you are from. I was planning to drop off of the face of the earth for 7 years to get my education but it may only be a few years with that set up. It was a very nice school. It felt small compared to others that I interviewed at but in a good way.
 
i have an interview date set up for october 16th. it was also mentioned that they will be interviewing on october 30th, those were the choices i had. i was invited for the interview on sept. 11. however, i am a reapplicant, and they already had my letters/file from last year. i was verified shortly after paying/submitting secondary. hopefully the rest of you hear about interviews soon. i was waitlisted last year and loved the school. best of luck.

As a current PNWU student, here is my understanding:
The do screen. I don't think there are any hard cutoffs. I think the screening is more of a qualitative thing. e.g. gpa + mcat + "do they want to practice in the pacific northwest?" + etc.

Remember: The mission of the school is to produce primary care docs working in rural/underserved communities in the northwest. That's what I want, so it made the school a great match for me.

BTW the website is a little basic, but it has improved since I applied. I was worried about it when I applied too. Don't worry - the internal technologies that we use for class are polished and well thought out. As stated in previous posts, the family feel here is amazing. The teachers are incredibly helpful and open, the students are like a collaborative (as opposed to competitive), and the staff are some of the friendliest people I have ever met.

Plus there is a ton of community support. Everyone I have talked to in Yakima has been genuinely excited that the med school has opened and were really pulling for the students to do well.
 
has anyone got new interview invites yet? I've been completed for awhile, even followed up with an interest letter. still no news. I'm so anxious now. :scared:
 
yeah they have extended some interviews. i posted that i have one, and i think that 2 or 3 post up somebody else posted that they have one. best of luck getting an interview, this is a great school.

Just got one. Sent in my essay a while ago, only sent in my check last week though.

Relax man, it's still way early. Anybody with as crazy/compelling a story as yours who shows THAT much interest in a school has to get a look. If not, I'll have lost all faith in this system.

Good luck to anyone interviewing tomorrow and next weekend. Let us know how they go and if you got in. I just sent in my $1000 deposit last week and the check was cashed so it's official... I'll be in the class of 2014!
 
Has anyone heard if ground has been broken on the classroom for the second year students or does PNWU plan on continuing the online lectures and meeting once a day for a Q&A session?

From what I understand, most of 2nd year is independent study on assigned topics with some lectures tossed in. The 2nd years meet back on campus several times a week to go over the assigned readings and projects. They are frequently called on in class and told to explain why it is they think a certain answer is correct/false to help prepare for our inevitable pimping in the future.

Quite frankly, I am looking forward to not having so many required lectures.
