Purdue c/o 2018 Applicants!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I wonder if all this snow is going to slow things down at all. I hope not. I'm too impatient.

Ok so it looks like last year they called with acceptances the 8th-12th (this year would be 7th-11th) and then e-mails were sent out shortly after either rejecting or wait listing. It would make me very sad to be rejected after all of that 🤔

I'll be at auburn and Illinois those days, sure wish we heard tomorrow instead so I could maybe skip those interviews and as of right now Purdue might actually be my #1.

Interviews were a week later this year though. So acceptances could also be a week later if they keep the same timeline.

They said at interviews "Mid-February." So I was thinking that it would be closer to Valentine's Day or the week following that.

I was going on that was told as early as the 8th from whomever at the school THIS year. But we really have no way of knowing. Especially with all the crazy weather and other possible factors that could change the dates.

Purdue had a snow day today. Hopefully this doesn't slow things down if we really are going to hear as early as this weekend

Well there are supposed to be horrendous storms this upcoming weekend, so I would not bank on getting phone calls so soon =/

Unless maybe all the admission committee members get snowed in together in one room. Then they would have nothing better to do but make decisions and phone calls!🙄 We can only hope...

If they don't do the calls this weekend, I hope they don't do it the following weekend and ruin Valentine's day. :flame: (I chose flame princess because I think its completely random/awesome that she is an icon)

My valentines day is going to be ruined by studying for an exam anyways...

I have a date on valentines day... with three Minnesota admission interviewers. :smack: I was hoping I would hear from Purdue before then... but only if it were good news, bad news can wait.

Boo hiss!

I work all day but I will probably spend the evening with some intense snuggling and stuffing my face with chocolate. The usual.

So Purdue gives you a phone call to let you know of acceptance, and email for wait list/ deny? No official letters first?

Yup.
Phone calls first, then emails a few days later.

So weird! That is the first school I've applied to that does that. Being OOS I'm not super hopeful for a call but would be nice. I feel like they interviewed SO many OOS people.

They did. The really, really did. Didn't seem to make too much sense to me.

Yeah it kinda ticked me off :sour:. They should have interviewed half of that or less... Interviewing at most schools I feel like I have a pretty good chance of being accepted, but with them I don't even feel like I'm ACTUALLY in the running..

We should all be super hopeful for those phone calls!! They will happen!! Remember we were invited to interview, there's something they like about us! 🙂

Ps I'm not usually this positive, but if we don't try to be positive we will all go crazy!

Sorry for being such a negative nancy 🙁 It's just looking like I'll have to reapply next round from the looks of my other schools. So I'm not feeling as optimistic as a few weeks ago. I'm alternate at another school and only have Purdue left to hear from. I feel like every time I got optimistic things fell apart and it was way worse than if I wasn't expecting anything.

Oh I don't blame you at all!!! I'm usually along the lines of be prepared to be disappointed and then when you arent it's a great surprise and can be even more excited! I'm usually a complete pessimist so I'm with you.

My interviewers really emphasized to me that they are truly interested in each student they invite for an interview - they wouldn't have offered an interview if they weren't already impressed with your application. So don't give up yet!

I hope you all hear some good news soon!!

Hey, it could be worse. I interviewed as IS an I feel like I blew it and the odds were in my favor! I mean 42 of the ~60 IS interviewees will get in, but my sorry ass couldn't put the words together like I wanted to so...😡
We'll see I guess.

It's okay, I was so sure I would get into my IS school and I got denied after my interview :/ huge wakeup call. I know how you feel

Thanks for the encouraging words!! Hope to hear good news from everyone as well!!

It's OK, we can be negative nancys together. I can't be optimistic because it will crush me just that much harder. I just really wish they would have made the interviewing more even. Now there's going to be A LOT of disappointed people who spent a lot of money to travel to those interviews =/

PS. I'm going to stalk this thread like nobodys business since I'm going to be a receptionist for the first 7 hours of today haha. Soo hopefully somebody gets a call!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give all of you a little hope.
I am sure a lot of OOS'ers applied to their IS schools, and if accepted IS, that may be their first choice. Look back on the thread, and you'll see already that a few OOS have declined their interview because they have been accepted IS. Also, many people apply and get accepted to multiple schools. Maybe Purdue isn't at the top of their list, and they'll decline acceptance. So I can understand why Purdue interviewed so many OOS, because half of us may leave. My point is, you have a better chance than you think!

Yeah that is what ticks me off. They would have been just fine with 150 interviewees even with declined interviews and declined acceptances. Oh well. Hoping to hear back if someone gets called!

Do you think they will actually make phone calls on a Saturday? I hope!!!!

Well if they did them on a Sunday, I don't see why not. I mean, they probably won't be doing the calls until later since the dates were later/weather issues this year....but I can still hope lol. I would rather they did them this weekend rather than next weekend.

You have a fair point. However, I ran into several people I went to school with and other people from New Jersey (and other states with no IS). The people who I went to school with already got rejected by their IS (Cornell, Upenn) soo Purdue is their last chance. I know negativity doesn't help, but it makes me feel more comfortable. Like a nice little blanket of sadness, haha. I do like the fact that there are a handful of current students I went to school with as well. Gives me hope.

Lol what you said about a blanket of sadness made me think about when spongebob knit a sweater with his tears XD don't even ask how that came up. I think a long day of work has made me go crazy.

Thank you, that was an insightful outlook. Thank you for the encouraging words.

With my luck, it will be crappy. My boyfriend is not very romantic, and being OOS odds are against me. It would be nice if they did the calls/e-mails at the same time tho. That way we wouldn't have to wait a half a week to hear back while other people know.

I hear you sister! My boyfriend is not the most romantic either... He figures since he got me circus tickets he will not have to do anything. All I am asking for is a card!

I am OOS too!

My boyfriend for valentines day has a mane a tail and 4 hooves! I'm sure he will try his best to make me smile but I really wish they would start letting us know because I seriously jump anytime my phone rings and it's just depressing!!

at least you guys have boyfriends on valentines day! Haha foreveralone..but I'm sure we'll get these phone calls soon!!

I feel your pain!! Mine basically ignores valentines day, even though I always do the sweetest things :/ I'm not doing crap this year and not expecting crap. Maybe good news will make this year a good one!
