ok because

1. no one's made a convincing argument otherwise besides them and
2. I might have just signed myself up to work an overnight tonight.... and
3.frankly I just really like sloths so.....

vote slothy.

This night is from 9 PM - 9 AM, right? And the following day will be 9 AM - 9 PM, and so on until Christmas has a 24-hour day (and 12 h night? Or 24 hour?)
Correct, though in general if we get all night actions early (as in before midnight) we will close night early because ~I hate mornings~

Christmas day cycle will run from 9am EST Christmas Eve to 9pm Christmas Day and then there will be a normal night cycle. Same for New Years if by some curse this game goes on that long.

I'm not sure I believe in anyone who is a front runner for mayor at this point. My initial support had been for Lawpy as a person that might know what they are doing. It's appears like Sloth is coming out very far ahead, however, by doing little other than saying they want the job and have lots of time.

I'm not against giving the time to someone that can put in the time, but I'm having a hard time casting my vote that way without any real evidence.

It’s going to be difficult to provide or deliver solid evidence so early on in the game.

It’s day one and very few people are engaging. It’s hard to make an evidence based vote.

Hello! Jumping in after sleeping all day from my overnight shift!
I appreciate sloth as a fellow newbie taking the jump to be mayor.
Sloth has my vote!

Sorry, was lost in chores all day, I feel like PhiloslothicalStudent will take his time to think things over if a tie needs to be broken. I also do not know what I am doing in this game yet either but it already looks like it will be getting pretty fun!

So I will Vote Sloth

#####Vote Supershorty#####
I commend your commitment to trusting no one and especially not authority, but I think that’s enough tinfoil on your hat. Come on, being elected because they’re enthusiastic isn’t evidence of wolfie conspiracy.

And we're back... I'm sticking with my vote.

For the noobs, from a humble grasshopper, the first couple of days are hard to get a feel for anybody, esp in noob games (though in retrospect some people will give themselves away early. But you can't really read that at this point.) So don't stress about it, just throw out a vote and see what happens.

🤔 explain softly 🤔

Why you do this

I'm not sure I believe in anyone who is a front runner for mayor at this point. My initial support had been for Lawpy as a person that might know what they are doing. It's appears like Sloth is coming out very far ahead, however, by doing little other than saying they want the job and have lots of time.

honestly, because they/you supershorty seem completely noob. And this point without much information I would rather give it to unknown/uncertain noob then risk giving it to an effective wolf accidentally.

Villagers, let me point out we are playing WEREWOLF *NOT* CLUE. It’s important that we don’t give the wolves any more power. The goal of the game is to flush out and eliminate the wolves, not pick an effective mayor/detective.

Please please please do the right thing and give it to someone random and unsure. I am willing to vote for others besides Supershorty but not the super majority vocal crowd. Pick someone else.

Sigh. I feel I am fighting an uphill battle since you all jumped on the sloth vote. Interesting how much support they actually have given that only wolves know each other...

Can i pick you? 🤔

I understand your frustrations, but we are all noobs here. Technically anyone we elect will be “random” unless you have another method in mind.

Unless you think that almost everyone in the game is a wolf, most of the people who voted for sloth in the beginning did exactly that: they picked a random person. The other people just bandwagoned on. No one knows anything yet. We’re all just guessing.

This could be true, given the 15 votes. Wolves probably want to hide in the majority so they don’t reveal themselves.

This.

I think the first couple votes for sloth were just because he nominated himself (that’s why I voted for him...her?). If sloth is a wolf, then it’s likely the wolves just took advantage of the bandwagon to get him elected. If he’s not a wolf, then they are probably just bandwagoning to avoid scrutiny.

I truly don’t understand this argument. Anyone with majority support is suspicious because they have majority support and thus probably wolf support? So do we just keep deciding to support a random person, voting for them until they have majority support, then picking someone else because they’re now suspect?

I also just jumped on the bandwagon because I don’t know better.
It seemed better to have someone who said they have time vs others?
Am I wrong?
I’m off for the next week and I guess I could do it, but I have no idea what im doing and its too late at this point to throw my hat in the ring.

People just don’t want to pick a wolf. But statistically that’s unlikely. Even though sloth volunteered, that doesn’t make it likely they’re a wolf. If we want to pick a completely random person who hasn’t really posted, that’s fine but like you said, one person having the majority doesn’t make them automatically suspect. Someone will have to have the majority.

I have 2 points:

1. The vote isn’t like 8-6-4-4-2-1 for different people, it’s like 16-3-2-1-1.
2. without much information I don’t want to give someone who could be effective as a player in general + wolf role any more power.

That’s what I’m saying. The argument for voting against whoever has the majority just because they have the majority doesn’t make sense to me.

I think the argument is that overwhelming bandwagons usually mean the wolves are content.

It might not apply as much to the mayor vote, but is definitely something to keep in mind once we start voting people out.

Your second argument is a very good point. I can understand the argument for having someone who might not be the most active, but at least isn’t a risk of electing an active and effective wolf. I disagree with the premise that how active someone is right now is a good measure pf how likely they are to be a wolf with an effective strategy. The wolves could be keeping quiet or could be starting out aggressively active - we have no way to know.

Everyone else just followed suit. So either sloth is a wolf and the wolves were just happy with the luck, or sloth isn’t a wolf and they are just hiding in the bandwagon. Basically the odds are even. But since sloth didn’t originally have the majority vote, it makes me less inclined to think that’s a wolf power grab.

Very good point.

In summary: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You’re campaigning pretty hard for sloth...
At this point I don’t think it matters much. It’s so split with less than a hour to go he’s gonna be mayor. We just gonna make sure we pay attention to what he does.
I’m just acting like this is an intense prolonged game of Among Us.
