How long is NYiT program?
NYIT is also a 3 year program. Both schools only have classes 3 days a week. Most of the schools that are 2 year have classes M-F all day. I know someone graduating in May from NYIT and my daughter is a current first year student at Stony Brook. She really likes the Stony Brook program. The tuition and the reputation were big factors in her decision to attend.

if you waited and reapplied im sure you'd get into NYIT, I don't know anyone who's gotten rejected from there but they are rolling and let you know within like a week or so of your interview and dont give you much time to decide, so some people turn it down just because they want to wait to hear from other schools and save the $1500 deposit

I wouldn't wait because if you add a year of wait time to the 3 years you won't be graduating until 4 years from now and that will be a year lost working and earning money as an OT. Also there is no guarantee you will be accepted to NYIT, I do know people that got rejected. I would also want to avoid the stress and expense of applying again. My daughter said there are students that commute from Queens. When you are doing field work 1 you will only have class 2 days a week. Also, looking at the tuition alone you could dorm at Stony Brook if you want and it would still be cheaper than NYIT. Some students do dorm for the first year and then commute when they are doing more fieldwork. My daughter commutes an hour to Stony Brook, you get used to it. Let me know if you have any questions, I know it is a very stressful time.

Hi! Thank you, this post gives me great relief. I do have a few questions regarding OT school. But first most importantly, do you know how many applications does Stony Brooks OT program recieve? Like how many people apply?!

I don't know how many people apply but I would think a lot do because it's a SUNY and the tuition is the lowest, so most people that get accepted attend. Can I ask why that is so important? I guess you could always ask Sarah.

Hey guys does anyone know when we receive the information for tuition and classes and all that good stuff?

Thank you!

Hi, thank you for the reply! I wanted to know because I wanted to know the popularity of Stony Brooks OT program as compared to other institutions here in New York (i.e, New York University, NYiT, Hofstra University, Touro College, Columbia University) and Hofstra University denied me! That bummed me out for a bit, so that was alittle shocking to me too

If you remember from the interview folder, there was a green sheet explaining all the tuitions and fees for the 3 years (I think the overall total for all 3 years is $55,000, including health insurance)

Hey, did anyone pay a deposit fee for Stony Brook yet? So far I accepted the offer last week but haven't heard back about paying a deposit fee...

does anyone know if there a facebook group for main campus?

I actually found a page called “Stony Brook University Occupational Therapy Class of 2022” on FB if anyone else is interested ‍♀️ it’s a group with both campuses.

Hi, I know this post is pretty old, just wondering if you ended up going to Clarkson if so how do you like the program?
