Essay Questions/Personal Statement:
Talked about how my prior career was the most straightforward pathway to financial security but it was not the right fit for me. Then how an emergency with an exotic pet compelled me to start shadowing. Then, I mentioned a story of how I was able to deescalate a situation with a client. Talked about how I enjoy working with difficult clients and finding ways to connect with them.
Cornell essays:
- Wrote about a time I almost automated myself out of a job
- Wrote about a mistake I made with a patient and how my mentors in this field have helped me learn resilience
- Wrote about how a family road trip that had several disasters along the way ended up being one of my favorite experiences ever
- Wrote about what I learned as an exchange student. In the follow-up essay I wrote about having zero regrets over my mistakes as an exchange student since it taught me lifelong lessons.
Minnesota essays:
Diversity essay: Honesty, it was pretty bad. In one part I talked about a time when my culture conflicted with American culture. Also described my volunteering experience and what it meant for me. It wasn't executed very well but I still landed an interview anyways!
- Wrote about a mistake I made with a patient and how my mentors in this field have helped me learn resilience
- Wrote about what I learned as an exchange student
Post-Application Reflection
There were several grammatical errors in my application essays and under the experience section explanations. If you look over your application and notice mistakes after submission please don't sweat it.
I'm a big believer that having a strong narrative in your essays is the most important part.
