Texas A&M c/o 2018 Applicants!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well, looking at the last two year's threads, calls went out around 2/16-2/19 for OOS. Then IS got decisions in the mail about a week after that. Eek.

Ok. Really starting to get super anxious now since this is the week that the last two cycles' OOSers heard decisions. I'm stalking this thread like a crazy spurned lover.

Also considering becoming BFFs with my mailman. That may be too creepy.

Ugggghhhh.

Really hoping the OOSers hear today! My sanity and I aren't on speaking terms right now. I don't know how much longer I can handle this wait. :uhno:

I'm right there with you.... the crickets are currently chirping and it's driving me up a wall!!

If it really does take until Spring Break, I think I'll die. Or lose my mind. I'm not even expecting good news; I just want to know!!!

Seeing from last years thread it looks like some of the currents students heard when letters were going out. Current students have yall heard any talk?

Not that this means a great deal, but I'm in the CVM every day, surrounded by fellow applicants, and none of us have heard anything yet. Also, I'm close to one of the AdCom members, but she's not divulging anything, at least to me. I also live with a 4VM, whom I pester daily. Maybe a student from one of the lower classes has heard something? Anything? 🙁

One of my professors is part of admissions, they're not on committee I don't think but they at least help out some how. I asked them yesterday where they were in the process. They said that an applicant some how fell through the cracks so an interview was given sometime after the original two days of interviews, but they didn't say how recently. Because of that, the committee had to go back through and recalculate numbers. My prof said they usually call em to go in and draw the line for the cut off, but they haven't even done that yet. That's why OOS applicants haven't been notified just yet, and why it's taking longer than it has in the past. It should be relatively soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if the letters didn't come until right before spring break though 🙁

Other than that, I haven't heard anything from current CVM students or any other profs. And when I emailed admissions to ask a while back (because when letters come out is going to determine what address I have it sent to) all they said was "we're looking at March but that's all I can tell you."

Thanks for the update! Hopefully the make-up interview wasn't too far past the original dates. I'm just kind of curious as to how a student fell through the cracks. I mean...were they never notified one way or another? In which case, wouldn't that student have been quick to tell the school that? Or were they initially given a rejection, then the school found out it was a mistake? Very strange... Somehow I feel worse now about my chances than I did before, as if that one student will be what pushes me off the "accepted" list, haha. I'm so far gone, it's not even funny anymore. Blegh. Well, Spring Break's in a little over 2 weeks...I guess it's not that much more of a wait. But I'll be out of town if letters come during break. My roommate will be here for rotations, so I guess she can tell me my fate.

I know of someone who interviewed the Monday after the interviews took place because she was out of the country, but I don't think that is the same person. That would not hold up the process this much

Interesting. I didn't know A&M would be that accommodating. Nice to know. And I broke down crying on my way to the lab this morning. I'm sitting here, trying to do a lit search on various Falcaustra species for my next research project...and I can only keep refreshing SDN. I hate that this affects me so much.

Also, just spoke with the AdCom member I know. They have yet to meet (further confirmation from what AgVetHopeful mentioned already)...I'm just going to expect the first week of March at the earliest.

First year student told me that week before spring break is earliest they said they were shooting for

Anyone heard anything else?

I'm starting to hear contrasting information about when letters are coming out.

OOSers have ya'll heard anything at all?

Curious...what contrasting info are you hearing?

A friend told me her friend (who is most likely fairly unreliable) heard that letters got sent out this past Friday, as in two days ago.

He just said he heard it somewhere floating around CVM. But that contrasts with what professors and stuff have said.

Well, as of this past Thursday, the committee hadn't met...or at least that's what an AdCom member told me. However, take that with a grain of salt. I'm also relying on past years' timelines where OOS applicants were contacted at least a week prior to IS applicants receiving decisions...I can't imagine they'd suddenly do it differently this year. If letters were indeed mailed out Friday, I guess those of us here in CS will know for sure by tomorrow or Tuesday. -shrug-

Admissions meets thursday to make the cut-off. Letters/OOS phone calls are coming soon ya'll.

Eee! That's so exciting/terrifying. Please, whoever is listening, let me make the cut!

Good luck everyone! I hope we all get good news soon!

how long after the 'cut off' day does it take in-state to hear about decisions? so stressful!

I'm rooting for y'all and hoping the good news comes soon! Applying to TAMU next year and already stalking this thread 😛

Blargh. Couldn't sleep well at all last night just thinking about the AdCom meeting today. I want so badly to hear good news, but I can't shake this sense of dread. And all my eggs are in the A&M basket! :scared:

I wonder if they'll make calls to OOSers tomorrow?

Thanks, su_grad! I really hope to add my name to that group!!!

Also, I've been poring over old A&M threads (because I'm crazy) and it looks like c/o 2015 received decisions in the mail on 3/12 and OOSers heard the day before that. So there may not be the week-long pause between the two groups hearing. I really hope that we'll hear sooner this year (like this week, plz!!!) because 3/12 is during Spring Break and I'll be out of town. 🙁

It goes without saying that I'll be stalking my mailbox like a fiend this week. C'mon, A&M! Please let us know this week! I really, really need to know now!

Last year they sent out an email with the decision letter attached about the same time snail mails went out. You should be able to find out still.

Seriously, they emailed? No one ever mentioned that before. That's exciting and terrifying. As if I needed another reason to constantly refresh my email. Thanks for letting me know. 🙂

Actually...the e-mail might be only for the interview invitation but not the final decision. Can't remember since it was a year ago. Sorry if I am wrong...

They definitely emailed for the interview. I can't speak for the final decision since it's my first time applying. I've never seen anyone mention an email, but that doesn't mean it's not true. I'll just have to be patient (ha!) and see what happens.

I'm pretty sure last year they only got a letter for admissions decisions, and the email is for interviews. My friend who is a first year never got an email unfortunately 🙁

The waiting is excruciating though. Extremely curious as to what's taking so long.

Well they did say that the faster everyone gets their fall '13 transcripts sent in the faster we would know. Maybe a few sent theirs in late and so they still had to update GPAs? IDK?

I don't think they send email notifications for acceptances/rejections.

Yeah. But with a deadline of 1/17, surely people wouldn't have sent them in that late, do you think? If the committee met on Thursday, then maybe the office is working on printing everything out and addressing stuff. Sigh. I really should stop stressing, but it's so hard not to, haha. I want us all to hear some good news, dagnabit.

Ya it's just a guess.
Ahh! I'm right there with you, this wait is making me go crazy!

Actually, they did receive emails last year. I just heard that they were received by applicants so late that they had already read their snail mail decisions. I think it is just meant to be a back up in case the regular mail is lost or something, which they can't control. Also, about the transcript deadlines...Yolanda isn't exactly strict about that and I'm sure there's nothing she can do about people who may have been up to a week later than the supposed "deadline." TMDSAS told me that she has yet to enforce her "deadline."

Huh. Yeah, I can't recall if I got an e-mail or not, but I definitely got the acceptance letter by snail mail first.

I don't remember getting an email confirmation, either; just the packet by smail mail. The only acceptance-type email I got from A&M was after I sent in the paperwork to accept my seat, and I emailed asking them to confirm they received those. I've kept all correspondence between me and the school as far as admissions went.

At this point, I just want to know my fate regardless of what the answer is. I'm not sure I can take much more of this waiting! My immune system is such a wreck, it took me over a week to get over a simple cold, lol. This forum is my only link to hearing anything from A&M and anytime I see knew posts, my pulse quickens.

Please A&M restore my sanity for me!!!

Sorry if I make anyone's heart skip a beat! I was just wondering if anyone had tried calling to see if decisions had been mailed? I'm tempted, but also scared, haha. I would like to know so I can change my mailing address if they haven't...

Yolanda just said mid march ... Meaning probably the end of spring break....great, thanks a lot. I'm actually just angry at this point. Why should it take this long

What the heck is up with them being so secretive? I just don't understand. FAFSA deadline is March 15 and I'm worried about how to fill it out. I'll either still be in grad school come the fall or vet school...so do I fill out it for grad school now? Can I change it later if I get into vet school? I'm so frustrated. 🙁

Yeah supposedly we will have the letters by the 15th at the latest.

Blegh. I guess I'll wait until this Saturday and fill it out as a graduate student. Hopefully I'll be able to change it later, assuming I even get in to the vet school. I was just so excited that we were going to hear back in February. I guess I should have remembered Murphy's Law.

At least some semi-good news. I was freaking out about the Microbiology confusion on the requirement page (I took BIOL 351 back in the day) and was afraid it would no longer be considered...but...looks like there was just an addition of BIOL 205 or whatever. The other two got removed by accident. Thank jeebus. I didn't want to try to fit that in during the summer if I didn't get accepted this round.

I'm so disappointed that I'll no longer have spring break to recover from/celebrate the admissions decisions 🙁
