Congratulations to those that got in! I know it's been an especially difficult cycle courtesy of Covid. Be proud of what you've accomplished, and take time to really enjoy this feeling. (No, really. Enjoy the heck out of it. Self-doubt and exhaustion and Imposter Syndrome hit hard once you've started in school, so you need to remember the good feeling.) I'm very much looking forward to seeing you all in the fall! If you have any questions or want any info on what to expect, feel free to PM me.

My deepest condolences to those who didn't get the news you wanted. It's okay to let yourself feel really, really awful for a while, but please... in the long run, don't let it discourage you or define you. There are a lot of fantastic people in my class who didn't get in the first or second or even fifth time. There just aren't enough seats, and there are so many amazing applicants. Hang in there. This is just one (admittedly very painful) roadbump on your journey.

I'm sorry to hear that! I was rejected the first time I applied to A&M with GPAs between 3.7-3.85. I had a friend rejected with a 4.0 GPA. I agree with @PhiloslothicalStudent. Don't give up! I was heart-broken when I got rejected and I can imagine you must feel a similar way... The debriefing report you will receive in May and the application workshop should help you identify the characteristics A&M is looking for in an applicant. The application workshop helped me tremendously. :nod:
 
Does anyone know if there has been a Facebook group set up for the incoming class or if that is a thing that will happen this year?

The facebook group hasn’t been set up yet. I believe one of officers will set it up, but I’m not entirely sure. We’re in class until 5pm today, so I don’t think it’ll be set up before then.

We did not get those last year. (I do have to give a shoutout to the fantastic White Coat who actually gave me his. That was above and beyond, and I still get teary-eyed every time I see it... framed on my wall next to the whiteboard where my studying happens.)

I don't think it did, as the class before ours received them in admissions packets shortly after the email notifications went out. There was a month between our email notifications and the first shutdowns due to Covid.

Honestly, I got the impression that it was because they're moving towards a "paperless" system with admissions packets. The previous class got an actual printed admissions packet - welcome letter, info on different colored pages, various forms, and the poster. We got everything via email.

We did complain pretty strongly during Orientation (which is why that kindhearted soul brought me his poster - I really didn't intend for him to do that, but I was very touched that he did). If given the opportunity, I wouldn't hesitate to speak up again. I'm fine with them not wanting to mail the posters if they're doing the rest of the admissions packet electronically (which I do understand), but there's no reason the posters couldn't have gone in our bags at Orientation. It's not quite as exciting as doing "poster pictures" when you get your acceptance, but I think it would still work. Realistically, none of it quite feels real until Orientation anyway.
 
Has anyone not received any updates on their application? I’m quietly freaking out here because I haven’t even received a rejection. Checked my spam, checked TMDSAS, sent an email on over asking for an update. I have no idea what I did and I feel like I’m going to stress-puke.

I would definitely give the admissions office a call since I think everybody was notified the same day!

Everybody should have heard back on the same day. Contact Yolanda Brinkman. She’s the admissions coordinator.

When I was rejected there (now at OK State) it was primarily due to a lack of interest in research. I had very similar statistics as you so maybe that?

No I have not, but if you’ve looked at our acceptance paper work it says “Must provide official transcripts from ALL colleges, universities, graduate schools and professional schools in which the applicant has attended sent directly to the CVM - Student Admissions Office at Texas A&M on or before May 31, 2021.” So, I’m not really sure.

Last year they had us sent our transcripts to the school not TMDSAS.

I sent mine to the student admissions office, I plan on checking in closer to the April deadline to make sure everything was received properly (since the link where we accept through doesn't send you a confirmation email which gives me anxiety lol)
 
Okay. I emailed Yolanda because they’ve been telling us to wait for TMDSAS but the paper said send directly to school. She replied with this so I’m waiting for now.

Can we take it upon ourselves to make a group me if we would like, or is that something that is frowned upon? Do you guys have one for the c/o 2024?

Yeah, I was a little worried about that, that’s why I asked. I guess that would mean they would discourage any type of group apps. Do y’all mainly just use the facebook page to communicate with each other?
 
The class of 2021 has a GroupMe, which is why it was discouraged for all of the classes following ours (I'm assuming). I find it extremely convenient. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Our Facebook group is where more of the "official" communication goes on. Our GroupMe is for quick questions ("did anyone else get an email that said...??"), reminders ("that quiz is due tomorrow"), and memes (normally about how bady we all failed the most recent test). From what I've seen, the other classes post all of the same stuff on their Facebook groups.
 
Not sure if there's any relation, but there was a huge cheating scandal at A&M a few years back involving GroupMe. (Disclaimer: it was an undergrad thing at the main campus, NOT the vet school.) A&M has been pretty fussy about GroupMe since then.

That said, my mentor group did set up a GroupMe, and it was an absolute lifesaver first semester. It was one of the White Coat mentors who started it, so I doubt there's any issue. But it is easier to keep things in line with a smaller group.

Agreed. I'm in a GroupMe with my mentor group and my lab partners. :laugh:

I am on the waitlist for tamu and last night I got an email from TMDSAS. They were requesting my transcript. I do not know if it was since im on the waitlist or its because tech requested it.
 
I don’t know about anyone else, but I was accepted and I have yet to receive an email from TMDSAS requesting transcripts. I also did not apply to tech.
 
Anyone here go to the perspective student meeting today? How did it go? I will be attending the one on Saturday.

I attended the panel last night and really enjoyed it! There were 14 "white coats" who serve as mentors for the first year vet students who went through a thorough list of questions as well as questions we asked live. Everyone was very friendly and honest about their experiences. It was also very organized and I felt like the time was used wisely. It made me very excited for vet school!

I just got a call from admissions offering me a seat in this year‘s class, but I declined as I have accepted an offer elsewhere! Best of luck to anyone still waiting on the alternate list, I hope you’ll be getting a call soon!

Congrats on your offer and acceptance elsewhere! I am on the alternate list, so this is encouraging to me! Has anyone else on the alternate received a call yet?

I called and they said that there was not a ranking, that they review the list each time a spot opens and pick someone. They also said the class is pretty much decided right now and the only way a spot would open is if someone backs out.
