Does anyone here have any info abt the WL movement at utmb? I was told they overaccepted ppl this yr, and still require around 13 ppl to withdraw before they would dip into the alternate pool
any other info?

where did your hear that the number is "13"? other than that, all the information i have is same as what you wrote above and no more (i know, we have A LOT of info).

I have been reading SDN for a while. I feel what you all are going through. I was wondering if anyone knows about the UT Houston alternate list. I called them and I think they have not accepted anyone yet. I was wondering if anyone had more information.

I e-mailed TAMU two weeks ago and still have yet to hear a response. At this point, I am not expecting one. 🙁

My roommate who got in and cannot join this year has asked for deferral and it got approved today. My roomie is out of town and had asked me to open her mails. The deferral was approved by UTSW.

"UE" is indeed upper echelon. I'm not sure if they have done it in the past, but this year, George Washington sent out two letters. One was the regular, "Thank you for interviewing...but..." type of letter. The second one was a bit more upbeat. Kind of, "Thank you for interviewing. You are still waitlisted...but you are in the upper echelon" I as lucky enough to have received both within two days of one another. Gotta love our mail system over here 🙂

Yea, from everything i've observed, this seems to be the most likely scenario. I don't blame them, I loved my Galveston interview.

On a side note, I finished my last final today!!!!!!!! School's out!!!!!! time for the real world 😕

Yep. Things are pretty much set for San Antonio. Our white coat is 24 July, Orientation week is 25 July 29 July, and classes begin 1 August. I'll be moving in July.

I mentioned earlier about the UT Houston alternate list. I would really apprecitate it if anyone could give me any info at all about what is going on with that school.

UT Houston refuses to give out ANY information about their alternate list, from the size to whether anyone has yet been pulled! They won't even let you update ur application anymore, since they require you update it thru TMDSAS, and as we all now know, our app has been erased from TMDSAS.

All we know is that the original alternate pool size was around 100 or so. I've just about given up on UTH. Hopefully UTSA will give me some Love!

Sorry for sounding cynical! Waiting makes me sad. I guess I'll have to start working on my App for next year... 🙁

call and ask to speak to dr wright (the dean of admissions), introduce yourself and ask. he's a VERY nice, laid back, funny guy, we've had many phone conversations in the past. 🙂

Go to Tech. Start your career now. You may not have the same opportunity next year. TMDSAS asks if you've ever been accepted to a school and they may ding you on that if you are interviewed again in the next app cycle. What the heck! At least you'll have an extra degree and it'll make you look really smart. 😉

June 1 is the first day that TMDSAS will begin processing applications for the new application cycle. June 15 is the day the med schools pull you off of their waitlists if you are already accepted to another Texas school.

I am a little annoyed with waiting as well as schools not having the courtesy of replying to e-mails. I know the schools are busy but I don't think it is too much to ask to have a response within say 3 weeks. 😱

Are you going anywhere this summer or doing anything fun? Anyone on the waitlist should plan to a) do something major to help their application and b) go someplace exotic and learn a new language or culture so you have something new to talk about during your next application and interview cycle.
