****The Official Midwestern University Class of 2016 Acceptance Thread****

Also got a call from Dr. Polk at about 9:30. Somehow my phone managed to put itself on vibrate (after I distinctly remember putting it on LOUD!) and he called during the 2 possible minutes of the day that I wouldn't feel my phone vibrate, so I got a voicemail... but I'm IN! And now I'm going to radioshack to get a cord to hook my phone to my mic port so I can record his voicemail and save it forever. Obsessive, perhaps.

Good luck to all those still waiting!

congrats man! imma do the same if i ever get my phonecall/email. The email will be my background pic lol

Call from Dr. Polk at 8:55 AM PST! I waited until 4 am last night to check my portal. It is still not updated yet. This is my only interview so far, I feel so blessed.

I have the accepted student checklist on the portal, but no phone call yet...Anyone else with this situation?

Hopefully I'll be in the next round! 🙂
Congrats everyone!

Call from Dr. Polk around 9:30, he said "we want you!" I'm pretty sure he meant only as a student, cause now my Midwestern portal is updated

Do you think Dr. Polk is done calling for the day? 47 predents members were accepted on Dec. 1 last year. Only 16 so far for this year... could be that no one updated yet. lol

I'd like to say there should still be more phone calls because of the predents comparison. I'm crossing my fingers for you Nguyen!

My portal DOES have the accepted student checklist, but when I click on it it says for accepted students only. It also has a link for matriculation too. But no phone call yet, as of 5:09 pm eastern time. Also, I interviewed yesterday with Zais and it went very well. Where is my phone call?? Any feedback?

Congrats everyone!!! woke up to the best day EVER 7:45am!! 🙂

I got a call from them this morning. Couldn't be happier. I loved the school, I just wish it wasn't so expensive. It would make this decision way easier.

Congrats Jedi!

One word -- military. Then again, it's not for everyone, but it certainly makes the decision easier for me 😀

I'm in!!!! 🙂

Dr. Polk called my house and talked to my mom, who subsequently called me during my Physics class bawling lol.

For some of you, the stress of waiting to be granted admission to dental school is FINALLY over. Congrats! For others, you're still in the waiting game: don't lose hope! A lot of my classmates didn't get in on December 1.

If you got into Midwestern, AZ and you have any questions to help make your mind up if it's for you, shoot me a PM (as most of you know, I'm a D2 here). In the meantime, go and pig-out at your favorite expensive restaurant and CELEBRATE!

Was this just recently? Or earlier this morning? Just curious.

It was at 11:15am over here on the east coast; so I am assuming it was around 8:15am (on the west coast) when he called. Hope that helps! I also joined your facebook group, so excited for August 🙂

is it safe to assume that they are done sending out acceptances for dec? =( im so bummed i really thought i did superb on my interview even the student interviewer said i did fantastic =( well i guess my first choice is gone =/

I wouldn't be so sure about that... keep your hopes up

There's always waitlist hope, or even just getting notified tomorrow! You never know but what they didn't have time to call all the accepted students? You could get accepted at any time. If you haven't got a rejection, I'd say your still in the game... although I know that doesn't help ease the frustration you're feeling right now. Sorry.

Got the call yesterday morning from Dr. Zais. Now time for decision making, but I will most likely be opening up a spot for someone else.

Can't say for sure 100% yet, cause there are a few other tempting choices too. I am totally in love with Midwestern's clinical stuff though, I can tell you that. You already deposited 2th?

Called admissions n they said to wait till jan now 🙁 I really want to go here 🙁 so disappointed

No, I haven't deposited yet only because I'm waiting to hear back about the HPSP when I go to the board on Dec. 6. I'm almost positive I'll have a scholarship, but even if I don't, I'll be doing everything possible to make it to Midwestern. I guess when it comes down to it, I'm just waiting because I can... just in case anything weird comes up between now and the end of December. I don't see myself going anywhere else though.

I got accepted here too!! I'm almost positive that I'm going there! So hello to all my future classmates 🙂

I am in a similar situation. I absolutely love Midwestern and want to go there but I am waiting to put my deposit down for the time being. I am going to finish Finals this week and then go home and work my butt off to get the $1,000 and pay it probably around December 25th. It will be my little Christmas present to myself

I'm holding on to that 1g for another month so it can yield a dollar worth of interest.

I interviewed on Nov. 30... Haven't heard yet. Did anyone get in who also inter iewed so late? Literally having the latest possible pre-Dec. interview? I interviewed with Zais and the feedback was very positive. No news yet, though, but I am thinking that this could be due to having such a late interview.

The University that I attend offers one 3 credit anatomy course which includes the lab. Midwestern requires 4 credits of anatomy. How am I supposed to get one more credit of anatomy? Is anybody else running into this same problem? 😕

I know at my university (BYU), the department for our anatomy class (3-credit as well, with lab) has a letter that they'll send to MWU that describes the curriculum of the class and demonstrates that it is on par with a 4-credit anatomy class (why BYU can't change it to 4 credit hours, I'll never know... unless I ask maybe, but I won't). This has satisfied MWU's anatomy requirement for all the BYU students that I know of. See if your university can do the same.

I actually go to BYU as well. Thanks for letting me know that! I'll have them contact MWU.

Any idea if we will be receiving a physical packet from Midwestern? Or will all of our business be conducted online? And - one last question - on the matriculation agreement on their website they mention that our GPA can't fall below the required minimum or something like that. Any ideas as to what that means?

Yeah I have been wondering the same thing, and calling Midwestern only left me more confused. The guy said I just can take 1 credit worth of anatomy at a community college; seems silly to me. Thanks 2th for the BYU solution, do we need to ask them to send down a letter in our behalf or will Midwestern just know from others' experience?

Yeah, ask the PDBio department about the letter that explains anatomy as a 4-credit equivalent (I don't know what they call it, but that's how I'd explain it?). I'm not sure if they'll send it or if they give it to you to send off.

I know one student who matriculated this year that had to get a letter still. They may or may not be familiar with BYU anatomy now (by your phone call response, I'd say no), so it'll probably make the process a whole lot smoother to do the letter thing.

I called Dr. Kaiser today, and he said he'd be willing to send a letter to Midwestern if they said that was alright. I'll have to contact the PDBio Dept. I had a similar experience when I called Midwestern a few days ago. They told me to take 1 credit of anatomy at a community college. I'll call them tomorrow though in regards to the letter. That would be nice to avoid having to go to a community college.

I'll call them

By them, you mean the PDBio dept. and not MWU, right? I wouldn't even concern Dr. Kaiser with it (at least not yet), because several BYU students have been in the same situation over the last 4 years, and really I'm sure the PDBio dept. would be the most current with the situation and would be able to help you the most since they've done this numerous times already.

If you need a lab or the course from an accredited four year college I know of one that offers A&PI (3cr), A&PI Lab (1cr), A&PII (3cr) and A&PII Lab (1cr) online 🙂 The class can be a lot of busy work and the lab it conducted on your own.... you purchase a lab kit and have to do the labs on your own while taking pictures and answering questions throughout the labs.... I'd highly recommend doing the labs if you only need 1 credit..... here is the link.... best wishes.... hopefully I'll meet you next August in Glendale.

For those who didn't receive an acceptance on Dec. 1, did anyone ever call in to check their status?
